nWo Posted March 2, 2012 Share Posted March 2, 2012 The entire state is in for a major outbreak of severe weather today. Everyone should have their disaster plan ready now. Please don't wait until the severe weather is approaching your location. If you wait until then you may only have seconds to react. Also, keep an eye on the cities and counties to your southwest. The prevailing winds in Kentucky blow from the southwest to the northeast. Most tornadoes will follow this track. Here are the maps for today. The greatest threat will be this afternoon into the evening. Some of the the storms that form will go quickly severe. Significant tornadoes are possible with these storms. The prevailing winds with these fronts being southwest to northeast the greatest threat area will likely be east of I-65 and south of the Bluegrass Parkway. Governor Steve Beshear today warned all Kentuckians to prepare for those storms, and promised the state’s emergency management system would closely monitor the severe weather as well as remain in close contact with local officials.
