  1. Rams win this one by as many as they want. But after this game they have some work to do before they get to LCA. I think Russell displayed a few of the Rams weaknesses on both sides of the ball. Coaches and players need to keep improving and not be satisfied with a 10-0 record. I know they have what it takes to make it to Louisville but nothing is written in stone. Keep working hard and use this week to get better. Raceland 46 West Carter 12
  2. Wow I have gotten so into reading these posts that I almost forgot to put my 2 cents in...I have a feeling that this game is going to be a classic. Raceland needs the win to nearly secure an undefeated season and boost their momentum going into the playoffs and Russell needs this quality win in order to save their season. As far as my predictions goes, IMO I just dont think any team in the area prepares for games like the Rams do. The coaching staff does and outstanding job of getting these guys ready and scouting up the other team. Therefore I dont see Russell having alot of success moving the ball against Raceland. On the other hand, I look for Racelands offense to face a tough challenge in Russell's defense. But in the end, Raceland pulls away and scores enough for the W. Im going all out for this one... Raceland 17 Russell 0 !!!! Shut em' out tonight guys!!!!!!
  3. Another good win for the Rams. Offense started out a little slow but eventually picked it up. I thought the D played outstanding and special teams turned in a nice performance as well. Congrats! 7-0!!!
  4. Great post! Thats a true sign of a special team. I have all the confidence in the world that these guys will remain focused throughout the whole season, regardless of hype, records, and what not. Best of luck tonight Rams. Get the job done.
  5. Bath Co. in a close one... B.C. 23 Fairview 18
  6. When is Tolliver expected to be back on the playing field?
  7. Raceland looked dominating last week against Paris. I dont see things changing much for this week....if the Rams come focused and ready to go they will name the score. Raceland 42 Paintsville 16 On a side note; I never thought I would see the wing t at Raceland....I shouldve known TJ couldnt stay away from it forever. lol.
  8. Sounds like an outstanding game. The tomcats seem to be lookin strong with the new QB under center. I think he's gonna be a good one.
  9. Good luck to both Paris and Raceland tonight. I know Hoof will have the guys ready to go!
  10. Looks good to me. I havent seen Paintsville play so until then I cant judge whether they should be above Boyd or not. Looks about right though.
  11. I have a feeling this is gonna be a good ol' fashioned slobber knocker! Tomcats are gonna have their hands full but I think they gut it out in the end. Ashland 20 Woodford 16
  12. I've had the chance to see Boyd play once this year and have not yet seen G.C.. When I watched Boyd, it seemed there were several coaching calls that did not make any sense to me. They have a good athlete in the Wilson kid but they try to move him around too much...the kid cant get in a rythm at QB because he is changing positions every other play. The B.C. offense looked confused against Ashland and I just dont see them making big enough strides in a week to bounce back and beat Greenup. It wont be a high scoring game either way but I think G.C. can come out on top. Greenup County 17 Boyd County 7
  13. I agree with you OldRambler, Paris always has the chance to upset any team in this district on any given night. They have the potential to be dangerous just because of their overall team speed and athleticism. However, Raceland has not had a problem beating Paris as of late, I may be wrong but I think Raceland has beat Paris 5 straight times, twice in 06'. I look for the Rams to show up and put it to the Greyhounds early. But they need to remember that, you cant let a team like Paris stick around for the fourth quarter, you have to put them away early and shut down their confidence. Raceland is on a mission and the Ram coaching staff will have the guys ready to go for victory number 6. "DC Express" rolls on behind that big O-Line... Raceland 41 Paris 15
  14. Nice article in the Daily Independent. Wish I would've been there to see big #63 run that punt block in for six!
  15. Did not attend this one but sounds like the Rams showed up and got the job done tonight with no problem. Congrats on the win guys. Any stats? Injury report?
  16. This game may be close for the first half just because of the emotions that typically come with a rivalry game but you can only play off emotion for so long. Greenup is going to have to put up alot of points to keep up with Raceland in this one and with the offensive struggles G.C. has been having all season, I just dont see them doing that friday night. Raceland 35 Greenup 16
  17. Great post Painter....alot of good info. in there. Thanks.
  18. These seniors were sophomores the last time Raceland beat LCA. Therefore they have had the experience of beating the eagles for the district title (which is what is at stake in this game), they know how intense this game is going to be, they know type of playing envirnment to expect, and they know how hard LCA is going to fight friday night. The seniors must get the rest of the team ready for this game, and they cant wait til friday evening to do so. They must be playing this game in their mind over and over during the week. Im more nerveous about this one then when I was playing...atleast when I was playing I knew I could control the outcome. Im helpless in this one friday. Raceland has to be hungry friday night and take this game from LCA because they sure aint just going to give it to us. Go Rams!
  19. As many have previously stated, this will be the hardest game for the Rams in the regular season. But once again I think that Raceland will have an excellent defensive game plan, I've said it before; Coach Maynard may be the best in the area if not the on of the best in the state when it comes to scouting oppossing offenses. Raceland will need to control the ball and allow Denton and Carver to set the tone early. Its going to be an exciting atmosphere in Ram Stadium friday night. Last time LCA came to Ramland, there wasnt an open seat, or spot around the track in the whole place. I cant imagine what this friday is going to be like. I like my Rams in a very close game. Raceland 27 LCA 23
  20. Congratulations on the win Rams! I thought the defense looked excellent tonight with the exception of Fairview's first drive. Logan had several nice plays from his D tackle spot. Also I thought the DB's looked much improved last night for Raceland. An impressive defensive performance once again. Offensively, Denton is an absolute man amongst boys out there. He can run through, around, and by any player on the field on any given friday...he's just alot of fun to watch. Carver had a nice 25 yard TD run as well. Like I've said before, those two backs complement each other perfectly and really put alot of pressure on the opposing defense. My only criticism for the night is that I thought the passing game looked a little weak. Thats not a knock on Boyles, Im not saying he played bad, Im talking about the passing game as a whole; qb, receivers, line, backs...everyone. It just looked to be a little out of rhythm and some-what sloppy at times. Its nothing that I dont think they wont fix before playoff time rolls around, but from my observation it needs a little work; timing with receivers, route running, things of that nature. With that said, the Rams did make some nice plays through the air, Boyles hit Selvage with two good balls and Selvage was able to take one of them to the house. Good win, still room for improvement but a good win nonetheless. Time to get ready for LCA!
  21. Fairview has played a very weak schedule thus far compared to Ashland who has played a very good Raceland team close, scored 40 in a win against Pikeville, and played Ironton to the wire also. Im sorry but I just dont think Fairview has proved anything yet; no offense to Lewis, Nicholas, or East but by no means are they on the same level this year as Raceland or Ironton. Fairview moves up when they beat a more quality opponent, which they have that oppurtunity this week against Raceland. But as some people said in the above posts, the Super 7 is gonna change alot after this week, so we'll see.
  22. Its not that I think Fairview has bad coaches, but IMO they have not proven anything in this area or in their own district so far. They have a solid coaching staff but IMO they are not on the same level as Ashland, Russell, or Raceland's staff. You cant argue with statistics and Mcglone and Vanderhoof both have the district titles (not sure how many McGlone has total but Hoof has around 6 or 7 since he has been at Raceland) and in Mcglones case, state titles, to prove that they are very good high school coaches. McPeek may reach that level one day and I hope he does, but he's certaintly not there right now.
  23. I agree you have to have playmakers in order to have a great football team but a great coach can take an average team and make them outstanding over time. IMO Raceland has those type of coaches and at this point, I dont think Fairview does. And as far the predictability of Fairview's offense. I meant that they have alot of tendancies that are easy to pick out on film. Yea, obviously Raceland has two good backs in Denton and Carver and they are going to get them the football but its how they get them the football that makes Raceland's offense difficult to defend. Raceland is anything but predictable, they came out in the wishbone against Ashland, ran some power I, some wing T, and some spread and then did the same against East. Coach Hoof does a great job of avoiding tendancies such as always running the ball to the wide side of the field, or always running the ball on first and second down (not saying Fairview does those things, just giving examples of some tendancies high school coaches often have). Getting the ball to your playmakers and being predictable are two completely different things.
