  1. Perhaps you need to understand that Raceland is Class A school and Class A schools go through cycles of talent due to limited numbers. Raceland has had alot of success in sports the past 3 years, especially in baseball, football, softball, and girls basketball. The baseball team is just at a point where they have graduated alot of experienced players from the 2006 and 2007 classes therefore alot of young players are having to step in and take on roles that they might not be completely prepared for. I agree with Statmaster about how Raceland has always had experienced, prepared players on the varsity level which gave Coach Hoof the luxury of not having to teach varsity and junior varsity players basic fundamentals. This year that luxury is not there and the coaching staff may need to focus more on fundamentals but by no means do they need to replace the coaching staff. Coach Hoof is an excellent baseball and football coach and a member of the KHSAA coaches hall of fame. He did not receive that honor by just simply showing up and filling out a line up card. He is a very qualified and experienced coach that gets the most out of his players. For such a small school Raceland is always able to compete and win against the larger schools in the area. It is hilarious that you would even consider saying that Coach Hoof needs to be replaced. One below average season does not justify replacing a coach, especially a hall of fame coach that has produced numerous district championship teams. I wish the people who think that the coaches need to be replaced would get out of the bleachers and try to coach a high school baseball team and see if you can do any better. The players and coaches are trying their best and the young players on JV and Varsity will continue to improve as the season progresses. Coach Hoof and the Rams have my full support and if you were a real supporter of Rams athletics they would have yours too.:thumb:
  2. Mr. Rose always made it a point to talk to all of the Ram players and to see how they were doing. He was a great supporter of Raceland athletics and was widely loved and respected by the Raceland community. He will be greatly missed and my prayers go out to his family. R.I.P.
  3. Great job girls! Keep working hard and bring home Raceland's first All "A" state championship!
  4. Best of luck in the championship game Rams!
  5. I heard Matt Thomas from Ashland has recieved a partial scholarship offer from EKU to play football. Havent heard if he has accepted that offer or not.
  6. I think it is a combination of everything right now for the Rams. You have to remember that the 2006 and 2007 teams mainly consisted of players who had started for 3 and 4 years on the varsity team. Raceland has lost those players and right now they are trying to develope some of the younger players that are inexperienced due to prior success by the Rams. I think they will get better as the season goes on. As for a quick fix, I think the Rams need to establish a pitcher they can coun on every time he goes out to the mound, in order to gain some team confidence, right now they dont have a pitcher like that. IMO Wilson could/should be that guy but it just hasnt happened yet. Lastly, the Rams have a great player in Peyton Martin but he is not necasserily the type of player to step up and vocally lead his team. From what I've heard and seen he is more of a leader by example, therefore someone needs to step up and get this guys in gear. Sometimes that is more effective when it comes from a player than a coach. But I am confident things will improve as the season goes on.
  7. I think they are looking around to find the best fit for him. I dont know why any QB would turn down the chance to play at Raceland, that offense is perfect for an passing QB.
  8. I have heard that a certain QB from Lawrence County could be transfering to Raceland....
  9. Do the Rams have any more games before the leave for Cocoa?
  10. Last I heard they werent going to have a spring game due to the amount of players participating in spring practice. I heard only 18 players have been there the past couple days. But not to worry because some players were out of town and several are playing baseball.
  11. I agree Blazer! Carver and Martin can both knock the ball out of the park at any given time.
  12. Great post. You can never count out the Lions. They have one of the top teams in the state of KY year in and year out. Also they have put together a tremendous coaching staff. You must respect their tradition and passion for the game of baseball at Boyd County. They will be in the running for the 16th region championship again this year.
  13. Congrats to all the players and coaches. IMO Coach Floyd has the potential to do great things with Raceland basketball. I look for him to make the Rams a regional contender for years to come.
  14. Petrino is gone and Ammons has been moved to WR. Salin Simpson and Scott Grizzle both transfered in this semester.
  15. Cograts to Elliot Co. and best of luck at the state tourny.
  16. Former Raceland assistant coach Gerad Parker is heading to the University of Tennessee Martin to coach running backs. Gerad played high school ball at Lawrence County and then spent his college years playing WR for the University of Kentucky. After college he came to Raceland where he was a the WR and DB coach. I talked with Gerad the other day and he has accepted the job offer from UT Martin and will be starting immediately. He did an outstanding job at Raceland and was a huge part of their district championship team in 2006. This should be a great starting point for him to begin his college coaching career. UT Martin is a D-1 school that plays in the Sun Belt Conference. Best of luck to Gerad and his wife Candy (who can play a little ball also!) and congratulations!
  17. Great post Statmaster. I agree with you 100%. If the Rams get the call in the regional finals, I think they make it to Applebee's Park for the state tourny.
  18. what other qb's are there from the east schools?
  19. Congrats to the Lady Vikings! Sounds like it was a hard earned victory, a job well done.
