  1. Congrats to Coach Hoof and Bret! Coach Hoof has now won district coach of the year two out of the last three years and Raceland has had two of the last three district players of the year! Not to bad!
  2. They usually have a weight lifting and special teams practice mid-day during team camp. About 45 minutes of lifting then on the field for special teams.
  3. haha I think all of us BGPers need to start a "Feed Sebastian" fund... I think it would be worth it to keep him around...lol!! But seriously, the kid is a great lineman. I would have loved to have him blocking for me!
  4. Also any word on what Sebastian's status is for next year?
  5. Great news! From what I have heard the kid can flat out play some football. I believe we have another boy who had to sit out this year but will also be a new addition to the team next year. Having Jeremy and the Troxler kid playing will help tremendously. Things are already looking bright, no more "rebuilding" seasons in Ramland... just "reloading"!!!
  6. Another great season for Raceland football. I really thought this was the year for the Rams to make it to Louisville. I've always said its not how good you are, its when your good. The Rams were in a great position to make it because not only did they have a very good team, they also heavily benefited from the 6 class system and the fact that they did not have to play a northern KY school until the finals. It really seemed like this was the year that everything lined up for the Rams. But it just wasnt meant to be. The 08' team gave it their all and I still think they deserved to make it to the carpet. Both Raceland and LCA were outstanding football teams but someone's gotta win and someone has gotta lose. I dont think by any means LCA was the better team, they just had a better night that night. If those two teams would've played ten times this year, each time probably would have won 5 times. Raceland has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. This years team is among the best all-time in Raceland history, no doubt about it. It was alot of fun watching them play and Im proud that they carried on the Raceland tradition.
  7. If UK was going to offer they more then likely would have done it by now. Robby is a great lineman, especially for this area but he is not an SEC caliber player. Most of the big D-1 schools have offererd there prospects by now. Not taking anything away from Robby but I just dont see him playing D-1. I think he would excell some place like Thomas Moore, Georgetown, Morehead and maybe at EKU but honestly I just dont think he has the size to play at UK. But I wish him luck and I hope he chooses a school that allows him to showcase his talent.
  8. I was sitting right beside Bill Farley ( Rams PA announcer ) the entire game and never heard him say that. I doubt he would have even said that with the mic off because LCA's athletic director and radio crew were right beside me and could have easily heard Bill say such a thing. Im not calling you a liar, all Im doing is presenting my side of it. There is a possibility you heard something I didnt but I honestly never heard him say that. Bill is a classy guy and although he does get rowdy up there from time to time, I dont think he would take it that far. Just my side of the story... As far as the game goes; IMO Raceland played way to conservative on offense in the second half. To me it seemed as if they were content with keeping the lead and consuming the clock instead of attacking LCA's defense with some different plays besides running leads and traps the entire second half. I thought the Rams abondoned the pass in the second half a little to much. LCA put nine in the box and we still continued to run it right at them and try the same play action pass over and over. I wouldve liked to see us spread them out a little more and allow Boyles to make some plays with his legs and arm like he did on the first drive of the game. which we did not do until late in the fourth quarter. Also my prediction that the Rams secondary would come out and play much improved was somewhat wrong. They did a nice job as long as Witt stayed in the pocket but once he broke the pocket the Rams secondary didnt know what to do with themselves. So thats my take on what the Rams did wrong. Not bashing them but thats JMO on why we lost. However its not every friday you face a QB like Lucas Witt, the kid is outstanding. On the other hand, Raceland, you guys had a great season. You all raised the bar for future Raceland teams and continued our great tradition at Raceland of being a hard working, successful, and classy program. Good luck to all the seniors, I played with alot of you guys and I have tremendous respect for all of you. Congrats on a good season and enjoy the rest of your senior year!
  9. Great article on the Raceland coaching staff in the ADI. It just dont get any better then Coach Hoof and Coach Maynard! TJ is one of the best defensive coaches in the state and he has been a huge part in the Rams success the past 3 years.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving BGPers....one more day!!!
  11. Burnout, your not telling us anything we didnt already know. The Rams pass defense was weak against LCA but missing a 3 year starter back there sure didnt help. The point is, Raceland's coaching staff will work extremely hard on their defensive game plan this week and will put an extremely strong emphasis on the play of the secondary. The coaches will be riding those DB's all week long, making them better, practicing them harder then any other position on the field. I expect Raceland's DB's to be better then they have been all season this friday night due to an intense week of preparation. They have good athletes back there. I think last game Raceland was so focused on stopping the "D-Train" that they did not prepare for the passing game as well as they should have. Now they know, and the problem will be fixed, I guarantee it. It will look like a completely different Rams secondary with Tolliver at the corner and another great week of practice.
  12. Those funnel cakes alone make the concession stand one of the best in the state...they are delicious.
  13. Weather is looking to be descent for friday night... I think a wet field would heavily benefit the Rams in this one...Maybe the Rams coaches will break out the water hoses before the game...jk.
  14. All I know is, the lucky guy/girl who wins split the pot this friday is gonna be rollin' in the money if everyone in the crowd participates...I say if any of us BGP Ram fans win then we should all go out for a victory dinner on saturday after the game!
  15. Personally I would like to see Coach Chad Tackett get the job at GC. He did a very nice job while at Fairview and in return the Fairview administration treated him very poorly. I know for a fact there were alot of people that disagreed with the way Fairview handled the situation and how disrespectful it was for them to pretty much push Chad out the door, so to speak. He is young and deserves another chance at a head coaching position. Granted the GC job might not be the best position to take right now, but I honestly think with the right guy taking the head coaching position and some outside support from the fans, school board, and some good assistant coaching, that Greenup has the athletes to have a successful football program. I think Coach Tackett is just the spark that the GC program needs. He has proven he can win and has had a year to learn under another great coach in Leon Hart at Ashland. I dont know what direction GC in leaning or who they are considering for the job but IMO I would be making a strong push to get coach Tackett down there in on the side lines. The next task the that GC needs to take serious is forming a good staff around whoever they do hire as head coach. This means not allowing JFL and middle school coaches to hold important positions on the coaching staff, such as offensive and defensive coordinator positions. There are several good assistant coaches floating around the area that I'm sure are looking to move up in the coaching ranks. For example, although I would hate to lose him at Raceland, I believe Coach Gary Fannin is ready to take a job as a full time defensive coordinator. He has been at Raceland for several years and has coached DB's and linebackers and done an excellent job. He has learned under Coach Maynard and has developed into a very good football coach. I would hate to lose him at Raceland and I dont see him leaving the program but outside schools would be making a mistake if they overlooked him as a possible assistand head coach/d-coordinator. Lastly, I just dont think there is any chance that TJ Maynard is leaving the Raceland program. He has it made in Raceland, he gets to run his defense his way and is winning alot of games doing it. Plus I've heard the pay isnt to shabby either. IMO I just dont see any chance of him going back to Greenup. But I hope GC finds the right guy for the job, best of luck.
  16. The atmosphere at Ram Stadium should be like never before. I hope the cold weather dont turn to many people away because the team needs as much support as they can get friday night! Hopefully the LCA fans will travel well and everyone will have Ram Stadium rockin' for the regional championship!
  17. Yea I noticed LCA picking on that corner a few times last game between them and the Rams. Tolliver will make a big difference over there.
  18. Congratulations to Highlands on the win and best of luck the rest of the way. Also congrats to the Tomcats on another very solid season. You all have alot of young talent and Im sure will be reloading next year for another successful season.
  19. Tolliver has been back in the lineup for the past couple weeks but why was he so limited last night? Injury bothering him again or were the Rams just playin it safe and making sure he was 100% healthy for the LCA game? Anybody got any info?
