Sometimes you throw the bait out and never get a nibble and sometimes you throw it out and the fish fight over it.... For the record if you read my first post in it's entirety you'll realize I'm being EXTREMELY sarcastic. As a Lawrence County fan my opinion of Highlands dominance is very well formed after the BEATDOWN we took in 99(??) at Highlands. Yeah it's been 10 years but it will never stop hurting. As for some of the Highlands fans that don't understand the backlash you need to realize that if you are the Yankees of KY Football people will either LOVE or HATE your program. It's doesn't mean anyone disrespects your team or coaches it's just that just as much as you want to see your team win every week we want to see you lose! I don't know why that's hard to understand. Every time you win someone else loses. Your celebrations ALWAYS cost another team their dreams. Your 500 Championships and your Theoritical Greater Cincinnati Championship and claim to the "Best in KY" ALWAYS costs someone else their dreams of doing the exact same thing. So in closing I will just say that Highlands is without any doubt the best team in KY and truly has some of if not the most devoted fans, but myself and thousands of people would be more than happy to see you lose in the next round and go home to stare at all your trophies and banners and start getting ready for next year. Just like they were going to get humiliated at home against the birds last year? I think that's what most people were saying and I seem to remember a great effort by JC. Just like they were done after their 0-4 start? I believe they won the district? Just like they had NO chance against Ashland this year? Beat'em. Just like they would never beat Belfry because they never have before? Beat'em. The only problem with all these predictions about Johnson Central is that this team just don't care and refuses to do what everyone thinks they should do. Do I personally think they can beat Highlands? Well let's just say If they both get that far I hope everyone keeps telling them they have no chance to win.

My cousin is J.J. Jude, one of the RB's at JC. His dad gives me a hard time for watching LC instead of going to JC and watching them, but school pride never dies so I will be watching my dogs as long as they are playing. Thanks for the kind words. I try hard to be a nice person but my mischeivous side makes me occasionally say something I shouldn't. A good example is the current "who will win 5A" thread. It's just fun messing with the Highlands fans.

Boy this is easier then I thought it would be:thumb::thumb:. I don't think they deserve any more credit then they've earned:rolleyes:. So they beat a team from Ohio and one from Louisville?:clap:?:clap:?? Does that make them unstoppable? I don't think so. They play a more finesse style game then we play in the mountains. Once they play a hard hitting team we will find out how good they really are. Some times it's just too easy to yank a chain:popcorn::popcorn:.

I think highlands is overrated:ohbrother:, overhyped :ohbrother:and will not make it to the championship game:sssh:. They have won some good games but some of the teams coming up in the playoffs aren't afraid of them :irked: and will walk right in and play some real smash mouth football :madman:. I seem to remember this team having a tougher game or two in last years playoffs then they thought they would. Hey if the bird fans want an argument I'll give'em one. A very weak, far-fetched, non-believable argument based on no facts or observations other than being contrary but an arguement none the less. :popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Congratulations to the dawgs. Great Game. Second half got a little out of control with some after the play stupidity leading to some unsportmanlike plays from both sides. I think the coaches on both sides got the players calmed down and stopped it from getting ugly. I was very impressed with the McC players not giving up. Even when the game was not in question they played hard and showed some heart. they've got some talent just not enough size on the lines. Their RB and QB would be very scary behind a bigger line. Congrats again to the dawgs and to their coaching staff. All the hard work is paying off.

Johnson Central was completely written off by some people after 4 weeks. I think a few people came to their defense on this site and said that it wasn't as bad as it seemed, they just needed some time to gel. Leatherneck specifically defended them despite their record. I think they are a really good story of how 1 season can tell 2 different stories. Congrats to JC. (I would throw out a good natured jab at those that wrote them off, but you know who you are:sssh:). Also as a Lawrence County fan I obviously think they are not just the best story of this year, but one of the best stories ever in KY high school ball. These players are truly hard working and incredible athletes. The coaching staff is not just talented as coaches but they are really genuinely good people. Had to edit after re-reading the original post.

I have watched LC all year and I only know what I've seen online about McCreary. I have to say that LC should win this one by at least 2 TD's. I do think that this may be the best running back combination that LC has seen this year, but LC has a few backs that I think are even better. With that being said I have to say that if LC doesn't bring their A game this game could be closer than it should be.

Lawrence will really be an unknown until the first week of the playoffs. Then we see how they do against some of the same competition that Bell has played. Until then the Lawrence County faithful will remain as proud as can be of our team but understanding of the rankings due to our complete turnaround from last season. We know that it's hard to think that a team can win 1 game in 2 years and suddenly be a top ten team. With that being said I really believe that everyone will really see how talented this team and this coaching staff is in the playoffs.

GCHS, I know this is not how you intended this post but I can't help but see this as kicking a team while they are down. First off the players and in some cases the coaches are already :puke::puke::puke:. Then they lose a game they didn't even get to play and now you want them to :isurrender: the playoffs. Man your mean :cry::cry::cry:. just messing with ya. I know your just pointing out what seems to be a very clearly written rule.

I wasn't giving them much of a chance of finishing this regular season undefeated a few weeks ago when I started this thread, but now I'm starting to get optimistic? I think Boyd County will be a tougher test then most people give them credit for. They always play with pride and have a good coaching staff that will have them ready to play. Someone mentioned to me that they thought East Carter had a winless to undefeated regular season in the 90's but I don't remember that happening? Hopefully an East Carter fan on here can help with that info? Even if we lost the last two games it seems to me that this has to be one of, if not the biggest turnarounds in state history. I can tell you that these kids earned it in the weight room and the offseason work they put in. Some friends of mine that know a few players said that most of the players really put extra time in this offseason on just strength and conditioning. I think that the coaches had preached to them that they needed to stay in good shape and I think they took it to heart and motivated themselves to get better. I've also mentioned in another thread that another big factor is that the schedule this year is NOT comparable to last year. These kids needed this type of schedule to get things turned around here. It was a great move on the part of the coaching staff. GO DAWGS!!!

Like I said, we'll know more after the second game of the playoffs. After that LC could possibly be getting ready to face Bell (assuming they get there) or we'll be sitting at home realizing that an undefeated record or a top ten ranking doesn't scare teams in the playoffs. With that said the coaches at LC are so talented that I don't expect to be able to retain them all for very long. Quality coaches are hard to find and this seasons record is evidence that we have an abundance of them in my opinion.

As a Lawrence County fan I have to agree with these rankings. After last year the coaching staff made an effort to water down the schedule a little and therefore you can't demand respect from beating what is a mostly weak schedule. The coaching staff made the right decision because we now have confidence and a winning attitude again. I would put them in the top 15, but we'll know more after the first two weeks of the playoffs. That's when real respect is earned.

With all the knowledge floating around on this site I wonder if anyone knows if there has ever been a year that all the state champions were undefeated? It doesn't sound unlikely?
