mcpapa Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Mayfield - open Crittenden County - @ Fulton City (1-6) Prestonsburg - open Murray - vs. Caldwell County (2-4) Fort Campbell - vs. Hancock County (5-2) Somerset - vs. Wayne County (2-5) Mason County - @ West Carter (4-3) Lone Oak - vs. Hopkins County Central (3-4) Lawrence County - vs. Rowan County (5-2) Allen County-Scottsville - vs. Logan County (4-3) West Jessamine - @ Boyle County (7-0) Anderson County - vs. South Oldham (2-6) John Hardin - vs. Waggener (1-6) Highlands - @ Covington Catholic (4-3) Obviously there will be one less unbeaten (WJ @ Boyle) after the weekend. Any others? Who's flying under the radar? Allen County-Scottsville, West Jessamine and John Hardin come to mind for me.
DragonFire Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I think AC/S will finish the regular season unbeaten. Monroe County is the only team left on the schedule that I think could beat them, but I don't think they will. Lone Oak will likely be unbeaten as well.
Commander 25 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 WJ will fall from the unbeatend this week as they take on Boyle. I think that after that the only chance that Boyle has at getting beat will be the last game of the regular season when the go to Christian Co.
UK fball fan Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Mayfield plays Crittenden on 10/23, so, one or the other won't end undefeated, plus Murray plays Crittenden the following week, so, at least one of those 2 won't end that way.
jude Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 A script even hollywood wouldn't believe is unfolding in Louisa Ky. Our Lawrence County Bulldogs are writing a storybook fantasy about a team that went 0-11 in 2008 and after opening with 7 straight victories in 2009 is now 3 games away from taking a team that was WINLESS last season to UNDEFEATED this regular season. I capitalize that because it just can't be overstated. At a time when our country and for that matter the entire world is recovering from an economic freefall that many believe will take years to recover from, a high school football team is showing it's fans and community that just because you hit rock bottom doesn't mean you have to stay there. Losing a football game can't be compared to losing a job or a home, but every week that they lost a game they had an opportunity to lose something more important, hope and confidence. This team and these coaches didn't lose hope or confidence. What they did lose was any sense that victory can be acheived through anything other than hard work and dedication. I still see the lost jobs and recovering economy in the Appalachia area just like everywhere else in the world, but what I don't see here is anyone hanging their head and feeling sorry for theirself. I see a community of people that are working hard every day to rebuild their lives because we have been given a life lesson by a group of high school kids and we are proud to follow their lead.

Great story, thanks for telling us about it. :dancingpa
jude Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 With all the knowledge floating around on this site I wonder if anyone knows if there has ever been a year that all the state champions were undefeated? It doesn't sound unlikely?

It doesn't sound unlikely? Good question but I don't think that it will happen this season IMO.
