I know some of the Highlands faithful have the stats from the last couple meetings between these two teams. Would someone mind posting them? I would actually venture to guess from my experience with the Highlands faithful that a couple of you could recite the stats and give a pretty good play by play from memory. I think the fans from around here quickly forget that Highlands has seen JJ already and they know what they are about to run into. We ain't going to suprise them. He is definitely better this year then last year because he's getting older and that means he's gotten bigger, faster and most importantly stronger. For Highlands fans that haven't seen him play I would say that he is not a huge physical looking young man nor is he a real small back. What he does that makes him special is the well rounded game style that he has. He really is strong enough to break tackles and run over people when needed. He has AMAZING balance. This is the part of his game that will immediately stand out to those that really study running backs. I think that's from all the wrestling experience. Then of course you don't get over 3,000 yards without break away speed. With all of that said you have to look at how highlands matches up against him. Highlands always seems to have LBers that have the speed to make turning the corner or bursting through a hole hard on backs like JJ. If he does get through the hole or turn the corner Highlands always seems to have safeties that aren't afraid to hit yet still have the speed to run with players like JJ. I haven't seen them play this year but it sounds to me like some of these key pieces of "Highlands type" defense may be injured this year and that my friends is what gives me hope that while NOONE with a bit of football knowledge expects JJ to get 400+ against highlands they do think JC's other really talented players might be able to put together a team effort that can capitalize on and expose what might be a chink in the Highlands armor. What noones talking about and is can JC's D stop Highlands. As I found out in 99 as a Lawrence County fan. A great running team can score 40 on Highlands but it really does you no good if Highlands scores 70! If they win it will be one of if not the biggest victory in JC history and if they lose then you just scratch your head and say "next year we'll definitely get'em!"

I would like to remind you that JC played Boyle this year. I was at the game and I can say that if there is a better LBer in the state then the one from Boyle then I've not heard about him. That kid was great. There were a few head to head encounters with him and JJ and lets just say that both players left the game with much respect for the other player.

Highlands is the favorite and has earned that title with great play this year. However the injury bug may really hurt them. I don't think anyone expects JJ to have 400+ against Highlands but he doesn't have to. They need long sustained drives and try to wear down a defense that's got some key injuries. This is how I think JC can win against Highlands. If JC wins time of posession they win the game. And before you even say it I know it sounds crazy that a two-way playing team can wear down a one way playing team but if JC wants to win that's exactly what I think they need to do. JC 28 - HHS 21. That's just my opinion Some of you Birds fans could help clarify the injury situation if possible. Do I understand correctly that they lost one LBer for the year earlier in the year and another is banged up?

Highlands has had JC's number the last couple of years, but even Highlands fans have to admit that they haven't exactly been able to shut JC down. Highlands has over the last couple years just wore JC down over 4 Qtrs. This year however the injury bug may even that out just a little bit. Highlands has also been a much better passing team then JC. This year however I don't know how healthy the HHS passing game will be? So It basically boils down to two questions. Is Highlands healthy enough to utilize their advantage in the passing game, and can they limit JJ Jude to a reasonable amount of yards? I have been picking eastern Ky teams over highlands since 99 and as Dr Phil would say "How's that working out for ya?" I'm 0 for ?? in that time frame! This year I'll once again take what even I consider to be an upset and say JC 28 - Highlands 21. What? It could happen???

Against Highlands you don't take a single yard for granted. LOL

As a Lawrence County fan I would just like to say Congratulations to Bell! You have proven all year that you are a force to be reckoned with and we wish you the best of luck next week! As far as the teaching a lesson thing goes. LOL LOL LOL..... I don't believe for a second that any coach thinks that running up the score on a team of high school football players that are already soundly defeated teaches his team anything worth teaching!!! The Bell County staff has allot more class then that. They are not that petty and childish. Shame on you for even suggesting that they would lower theirselves to that level of classless behavior. The simple fact is that Bell could lay 70 or 80 on allot of teams this year and they didn't so I for one would like to think that tonights score was simply the result of an overmatched team just getting beat and not the result of pettiness from Bells coaches. This team, and it's fans can handle getting beat. We've been beat before, we'll be beat again. But what we won't do is quit. We'll see ya next year! Till then good luck and go get that state title. You deserve it!

Not bad for a Junior. If I'm correct that puts him at around 5,200 for his career. If he could match this pace next year(VERY BIG IF) then he could break the all-time yards rushing mark for KY (8,224). That is if my math is correct? With a good game (130+) next week he could push ahead of the mark for #2 rushing yards for a season ahead of Shaun Alexander (3,166). If they could pull off the upset of Highlands he could concievably break the single season mark of 3,361 in the next game. And yes I would consider beating Highlands an upset even though I am a JC fan and firmly believe they have the ability to pull off the upset.

Commander - I'd like nothing more then to be at the game but my 2 year old daughter has an event that I just wouldn't miss for anything. I'll be taking pictures of her and listening to the game with the headphones though. Henry - The Bulldog faithful will be proud to have you cheering with us Friday night and we appreciate the support! We'll need it! Stew - I love to hear things like this about our boys. I have talked with Coach Preece many times about how this coaching staff isn't just here to teach these boys football they are here to help the parents teach these boys to be men. Allot of working parents can't be with their boys nearly as much time during the week as these coaches are and we trust these coaches to teach proper tackling and proper manners with the same amount of emphasis. Being completely honest though I've heard a few times about the young Mr. James doing classy things like this and even though I don't know him personally I'm very proud to cheer for him and I'm sure his parents are proud of what kind of young man they've raised. Winning a game is always important, but this year for some of us LC fans it's more important that our kids show that last years off the field "issues" was not a representation of who we really are. I was not there and I DON'T CARE who started it or what brought it on. It was not the impression we want to give of our town, our school, our coaches or our kids. They are really great young men! This coaching staff is an excellent group of leaders and they will have our kids ready to play and represent us the way we expect. My prediction is this. 100% effort 0 ejections An entire town proud of this team Hopefully an upset of an incredible Bell team.

I wonder why JC reports to MaxPreps but not to the KHSAA? I've never really heard anyone say why?

If my calculations are correct J.J. Jude has 2700+ yards this season. MaxPreps shows him with 2240 after the Montgomery game. I believe he got 180+ against Belfry and 280+ against Scott. If all this information is correct he has 2,700+ yards this season. MaxPreps also show him to have around 330 as a freshman and 1900+ as a sophomore for a total of over 4900+ as of now in his career. With the same pace next year he would be in the top three all-time rushing in the state.

Being a Lawrence County fan I am all too familiar with the consistent talent that Russel brings to the table. For some reason I just don't personally think of them as a potential "suprise" team this year. Sorry, just my opinion. I wish the best for them though.
