Well, it looks like we need a miracle now to not be the best 0-6 team in the state. As I keep saying, at least this team never quits.

I think this is where Lawrence County breaks the winless streak. The Dawgs are a solid team with young talented players and young talented players eventually get hungry enough to take bite out of someone. I think this is the week LC's talent and hunger overcome inexperience. Go dawgs.

Sorry I mis-spelled Russell, but also wanted to note that their only loss came at 5A Ashland, so it REALLY looks like traveling into Russell looking for your first win is not a good position to be in. I don't know what these coaches are saying to keep our kids heads up but I hope they can keep them playing as hard as they have been and we will eventually get our first win.

Lawrence County's opponents have a 14-3 record. With that kind of early season schedule it's unbelievable that these kids haven't given up, but they just keep fighting. BC took advantage of every LC mistake this week. That's what good teams do. Congrats to them and Good luck to LC next week. Next weeks opponent Russel is 4-1 and has beaten two of our three district foes. Things just don't come easy this year!

I know that my Lawrence County Bulldogs are not as bad as their 0-4 record implies. I actually think they are a pretty good team, they've just had one REALLY tough early season schedule. I don't believe they are in the same league as Bell or some other 4A schools but even at 0-4 I'm very optimistic that they will win their District. How good is your 0-4 team?

Did last weeks opponent run the spread? I thought they had one of the top QB's in the state? Maybe they didn't run the spread though? Just curious?

I believe that besides Highlands Lawrence was the winningest program in the state in the 90's. They had arguably one of the top 5 running backs in the history of the state and unarguably the best reciever ever in the state. They do not however have that elusive state title that so few schools actually have. So as far as tradition we believe ours is rich and we believe that we will get back to were we want to be. The majority of LC fans really understand what the program is going through and we appreciate these underclassmen that are out there right now taking their lumps and playing their heart out to get the program back to the top. The seniors we have are playing with all their ability but we all know that ability isn't enough. The underclassmen need experience and this year they are getting it. Winning or losing this has been the most enjoyable team to watch in years.

Tough game against a good opponent. Close losses while still losses are cause for optimism to a young talented team. They will keep their head up and they will get a win soon.

Yep, that 4 game stretch will show how accurate that average really is. From what your saying about the past opposition I don't see how those stats can hold up. He could drop down to a paltry 5 or 6 yards per carry?:lol: With that being said it still sounds like he would be a fun player to watch.

I like many on here use my real last name and openly give my real first name. I guess the real question is why wouldn't you? I don't know about you but I try to teach my children that you shouldn't say something about someone that you wouldn't say to their face. I may purposely leave out a coaches name when discussing a past call made so as to discuss a situation without picking on a person, but in general my comments are pretty straight forward. I would say that 90% + of the posters on here would openly give their name if asked? With that being said the real beauty of the site is that it's your choice! You can if you want, but you do not have to. Therefore the coaches that want to post and read and not worry about everyone micro-analyzing every comment can do that with a slight level of anonymity. I only personally know one coach and he is a frequent poster and reader. His comments (that i have read) have NEVER been directed negatively at any player or other coach for that matter. Remember that Ram's numbers for coaches are probably (??) taken from the coaches that have FREE accounts and names he knows are coaches, but for all you know I could be a coach? Although my wife assures me I'm not and never will be, I could be? So i'd put the number somewhere around 40% of all coaches at least look at the site?

Unfortunately when Lawrence County was coached by an individual that I will leave unmentioned this did occur a few times. He may have had his reasons but I couldn't understand it at the time.

11.2 per carry is awesome. I wonder how long he can keep that pace? Has the competition been that weak or does he have that good a line, or is he just that good?

Lawrence County has had a history of going for 2 instead of kicking. Luckily that trend has turned around lately, but as we found out with an early injury this year we only have one dependable kicker. This created a situation where we were a 2 point conversion only team until the kicker healed up. If I remember correctly in 1991 or 92 LC lost the state semi-finals when we failed on 2 or 3 consecutive field goal attempts (re-try due to penalty). We just hadn't really practiced kicking much?

Lawrence County has 5 Sr's on the roster, and only 3 starting.:eek: Does anyone in the state have less than that?

Does anyone have any early numbers on rushing yards for players or teams? Please post per carry averages if available. These numbers are always interesting early in the season.

FORFEIT? No offense but this isn't the FLU. These families and school districts are dealing with a natural disaster that the rest of us don't even think about during our daily life. If high school sports don't teach us gamesmanship and compassion then let's just quit playing all together. The schools that are scheduled to play these county schools should QUICKLY send word that a forfeit is not required and that the game will simply be cancelled and our prayers and thoughts are with them as they try to clean up the mess that mother nature has left them. Forfeit? I hope you were joking!

Is Bell really that much better than Johnson Central? I don't know much about Bell?

I really wonder how much of this was done by this staff and how much was already in place from the previous staff? I assume that these players and these coaches feel that Lawrence shouldn't back down from anyone, but I agree that this tough of a schedule may have some ill effects on moral. We all know that an 8 point loss to Belfry should show the fans that we are close to turning it around, but to most people a loss still looks the same on paper. I really hope these players and coaches realize that the VAST majority of the fans are still behind them and really appreciate the effort they are giving! Probably need to drop this or start another thread?

I look at this and I feel a little better about Lawrence County's record. They've played Sheldon Clark and Belfry and they will play Prestonsburg and Letcher County? That's 4 of the Mountain top 10. Five of the top ten if they run into Bell in the playoffs which is likely. Throw in Russell and Breathitt as the other two non-district games remaining and it looks like this team will be battle tested if nothing else.
