JCPS Cancels all athletics for week

On Fox 41... Jeff Co. Public Schools cancel athletic events for the rest of the week.

 

School has also been cancelled for the rest of the week.

So there are about 22 public programs in Jefferson County, does that mean that 22 games are cancelled? Does that include the private schools too?

I think if a public school had a game set with a private school or an out of state school they can still play.

No public school team from Jefferson County can practice or play a game this week. Period.

That leaves the following schools without games this week: Bullitt East, Henderson County, Anderson County, North Bullitt, Johnson Central, Shelby County and St. Xavier.

 

I don't think I've left a team off the list. Wonder if we'll see some hastily put-together matchups.

I know the Manual / Henderson game can't be made up because Henderson doesn't have an open week. Their off week was the second week.

Is Trinity and Cincy St. X still playing?

Are X and T open? If not have the football teams still been practicing. To me the big issue for JCPS is that they aren't allowed to have practice if the school is closed meaning none of the teams have had any practice.

Makes for a bad situation for the schools that don't have a game. But we must remember real like comes first.

If the teams can’t meet their commitments for what ever reason shouldn’t they have to forfeit? Can the teams that are allowed to play be allowed to schedule someone with a bye week ?

Over 22 schools in Jefferson Co still don't have power due to the wind storm last Sunday and the school district has elected not to stay closed for the rest of the week. When school has been canceled teams may not practice or have competitions.

The teams aren't making the decisions, the school district is.

Wow, I didn't realize the wind damage was that bad up north. Although the cancellation of football is minor compared to other concerns, it sure does throw a monkey wrench into this week's schedules.
