Does your school kick the PAT or go for 2?

Featured Replies

Just curious what others schools do. I know in the mountains a lot schools don't have anyone that can kick a field goal so lots of the schools just line up and go for 2 every time. This has also been known to force the few teams that do kick to be forced to line up and go for 2 when they do score. Just curious which schools do what?

Raceland normally kicks the extra point, but going for two is not unheard of.

Haven't seen many teams kicking extra points or FG's around here besides Bell County with Merrick.

Boyle County always has a decent kicker so they usually always kick the extra point.

CovCath's kickers have been excellent weapons for a few years now

Belfry always kicks the XP unless the situation calls for something different.

The Polar Bears usually try a XP on the 1st TD... how that goes dictates going for 1 or 2 the rest of the way- when there is another TD scored that is.

I would guess that this is the case for most squads.

Lawrence County has had a history of going for 2 instead of kicking. Luckily that trend has turned around lately, but as we found out with an early injury this year we only have one dependable kicker. This created a situation where we were a 2 point conversion only team until the kicker healed up.

If I remember correctly in 1991 or 92 LC lost the state semi-finals when we failed on 2 or 3 consecutive field goal attempts (re-try due to penalty). We just hadn't really practiced kicking much?

Prestonsburg kicks the field goals.

Fairdale started a soccer program this year and they were able to find a kicker, Martin Gonzalez. Now they are actually successfully kicking PAT's and Field Goals. It's very strange to see the Bulldogs kicking the ball... and doing it so well. As long as I can remember they've struggled in the kicking game.

vs. Male

1-2 PAT

missed 46 yard Field Goal

vs. Southern

3-4 PAT

missed 23 yard FG

made 39 yard FG

vs. Atherton

10-10 PAT

14-16 PAT

1-3 FG 39 yard long

I've seen this kid kick 50+ long field goals in pre-game so he has a very strong leg. Every miss can be credited to bad snaps or holds. He's just a junior and he's never kicked a football prior to this season. He can only get better. He's got a few touchbacks on kick-offs, too.

Bell County, with the help of Monte Merrick quicks the extra point very succesfully.

Woodford Co. kicks. It seems like the Lexington and Louisville area schools would all have a decent placekicker with all the youth soccer in those cities! Those soccer moms should be telling their kids to play pup football anyway!
