Russell hosts Lawrence Co. this week. What are your thoughts on this game?

Thanks for starting this thread Graybeard. LC seems to be the most "snake bit" team we have in our area. That team just can’t seem to get a win but I admire the players for keeping focus and giving it their best (at least that's what I surmise form the various posts)

 

If the Dawgs keep working hard, the tide will eventually turn in their favor. We both know Russell doesn’t like to be pushed around and this may be a blow that LC can deliver. Even though Russell rebounded from a sound defeat by beating up on East Carter, I don’t know if the Red Devils are ready to play smash mouth again this soon.

I keep reading that Russell is not as physical as they have been in previous years. I think they can win this one but they better come ready to play, Lawrence County is hungry for a win and they WILL be physical.

My only question in predicting the outcome of this game would be whether or not Lawrence County will suffer the effects of losing as many close games as they already have. It must be difficult for a team to take heartbreak after heartbreak and still come back ready to fight week after week. They have shown great character so far, though, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they come to Russell ready to play this Friday night.

 

That being said, it will be very interesting to see how Russell responds to having the fight taken to them again. I say Russell will win by a score of 24-17 just for the fact that it generally takes a pretty good team to beat Russell at Russell and I don't think Lawrence is at that level. We'll come away from this game feeling bad for Lawrence County for another good effort gone unrewarded and still being unsure of which way Russell's season is going to go.

I look for a physical game, but Russell is too much for Lawrence County. Russell will end up wearing Lawrence down and winning by three scores.

I think this is where Lawrence County breaks the winless streak. The Dawgs are a solid team with young talented players and young talented players eventually get hungry enough to take bite out of someone. I think this is the week LC's talent and hunger overcome inexperience. Go dawgs.

Lawrence County, for whatever reason(s). can't seem to get over the hump, and Russell at Russell isn't usually the place for a winless squad to break the schneid.

This one is hard for me to call because I've not seen LC play since we are not in the same district anymore. Several good points have been made

LC teams have a tradition of being physical - and that is the kind of team that Russell has trouble with.

I agree that Russell is a hard place to win. But if LC plays physical football I think they will pull it off.

 

LC's tougher schedule pays dividends this week, IMO.
