Who's leading in rushing?

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any early numbers on rushing yards for players or teams? Please post per carry averages if available. These numbers are always interesting early in the season.

Rockcastle has 738 yards rushing as a team, Casey Hayes 492 yards on 86 attempts, that is 5.7 yards a carry.

Boyle County has 795 yards rushing as a team. In 3 games they are averaging 265 yards per game. Rees MacShara is the leading rusher for Boyle County with a total of 482 yards in those 3 games with 7 td's. The interesting stat is that he's averaging 10.5 yards per carry!

That's a little old so it's hard to go by that. I believe 2 extra games have been played by teams since the last time that was edited. Plus, not every team in the state submits their stats report to KHSAA.

3 games played, 697 yards rushing on 108 attempts and 7 TD's

Harlan County had over 740 yards rushing.

I'd say our leading rushing Gilliam is close to leading the state in most yards per carry at over 7 ypc.

I bet Harlan County is also leading the state in most rushers that have carried the ball in a varisty game. I for one was amazed at how many have carried in a varsity game.

I'm pretty sure Ryan Williams of GRC is leading the state in rushing yards. He has over 750 yds already I believe.

I was checking the stats out as you were typing I guess. Ryan Williams 729 yds on 65 carries 243 yds per game with 8 tds.

Williams is averaging 11.2 yds per carry.

Williams is averaging 11.2 yds per carry.

I wasn't suggesting 7 ypc was the record just close. I'd say Williams is way out in the lead, but there may be a drop off from him to others that are close to 2nd, 3rd, etc.

11.2 per carry is awesome. I wonder how long he can keep that pace? Has the competition been that weak or does he have that good a line, or is he just that good?

Everyone I've talked to that was at the Mason/Boone game says this kid is pretty tough. A little early to compare him to another legendary Boone County RB I'm sure

The offensive line that I saw was very small as was he.

Their overall opponents record is 2-7. Those two wins 1 for Harrison County and 1 win for Tates Creek came against opponents who are currently 0-6 combined so their opposition hasn't been good at all.

What I did see of him was his quickness though, the next 4 out of 5 games will be a tell tell sign for him. They face Scott County, Danville, Madison Central and Henry Clay.
