  1. They ever gonna start interviews for a coach?
  2. The ratings for these districts are accurate.
  3. Russell beat Boyd. Lewis is way too low. Menifee has beaten Bath and Rowan.
  4. Yet another hit to the Morgan Co. girls team this season, as Freshman starter Brittany Stamper has been lost for up to 4 weeks after an emergency appendectomy was performed on Friday to remove her appendix. Brittany was averaging 10.3ppg and 5.5 rpg for the Lady Cougars. Morgan Co. lost Lara Hembree for the season to an ACL tear, they lost starter Faith Slone for two weeks for an ankle injury, and now another starter lost for some time in Brittany Stamper. Brittany is a wonderful player and person and our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Brittany. Hang in there Cougars! Tough season of injury and illness.
  5. Morgan County has been very proud of WALKER CRASE for making this team. For those who didn't know...Morgan County's Middle School football team finished 16-1 this past season and lost to eventual state champion Bluegrass Middle 22-14 in the state semi-finals. Walker is not the only player as he has perhaps the most talented, very deep, and athletic group of 7th and 8th graders to come through Morgan Co. in a long time. Possibly....and hopefully....Morgan Co. could very well go from WORST in Class AA to way up the AA ranks in the upcoming years. Congrats to the Morgan Co. representation in San Antonio, Texas:ylsuper:
  6. The young Royals are getting better. Have they beaten any teams with a winning record?
  7. Anyone have any scores?
  8. Two interesting notes: Russell ranks 10th in enrollment and how is Bath still an All A participant at 591 students?
  9. Morgan Co. moving to the 62nd obviously hasn't worked out well for the Cougars, however, it is HOW the Cougars were moved to the 62nd that is still drawing the ire of many in Morgan Co. Morgan has excellent relationships with its current 62nd district foes, but they do miss the Rowan Co. rivalry more than anything.
  10. Morgan County DONNIE MCKENZIE Player: BILL ALLEN
  11. They have two months to get better. The biggest games come in March.
  12. Yep...scheduling causes teams to win or lose games in March............unreal. I still can't believe I am reading those statements.
  13. This is the first LIT ratings of the season, BTW Elliott was #1 in the state. REGION 16 1.Elliott County 103.9 2.East Carter 68.7 3.West Carter 68.7 4.Ashland Blazer 67.2 5.Bath County 67.0 6.Fairview 64.0 7.Greenup County 59.5 8.Morgan County 58.5 9.Lewis County 56.7 10.Menifee County 55.3 11.Rowan County 54.6 12.Rose Hill 54.4 13.Fleming County 53.9 14.Raceland 49.7 15.Russell 48.4 16.Boyd County 43.7
  14. 5 donks in a game, your team gets 2 bonus points...new KHSAA rule.
  15. Boy's and Girl's programs must commit, you can't have one program in (Boy's) and then the girl's out...or at least that was an issue a handful of years ago. Teams have opted out. (Fairview) I believe is not in EKC but was at one point.
  16. Teams would come if Elliott would reinstate the old Sandy Hook Invitational Tournament from back in the day!!! Gotta love those old trophies!!
  17. Coach Humphrey doesn't need another injury, he lost the Purvis kid to a torn ACL before the year started...he would have been a huge difference maker in this GRC team.
  18. Conferences like the EKC recognize top perfomers with 1st and 2nd team selections, have post season banquets, and provides some awards, they administer all sports as well, such as volleyball, tennis, and golf to name a few. There has been some debate to the benefits, but it's really set up to benefit the kids with recognition and teams that achieve successful seasons by winning the reguar season title, etc. All H.S. conferences have their + and - and I am fairly neutral. For our conference the EKC is more tradition than anything with loyalty, but of course the debate about locking up schedules is a valid point as well.
  19. How many DONKS does Pittman have this year!!!
  20. I know Coach Henley wants his teams getting better defensively and it looks as if they are right on schedule...the really locked teams up last year and this year should be no exception. Another big win for Coach Henley and his bulldog team.
  21. Morgan County Mark "Yachy" Hopkins in 1988 and Mikie Day in 1995
  22. Easy button.... They must play their district opponents twice, so there is 6 games. The belong to the EKC conference which takes up about 10 games. There is 16 of the 23 dates locked up for them....some things are beyond Elliott Co's control in terms of scheduling...it's probably not because they are afraid to play anybody, they will play them anytime and anywhere...evidence is by them playing a South Charleston team in Ky. Bank Shootout and also travelling to play in Myrtle Beach... Morgan Co. tried to beef their schedule up from 2002-2006 and remember playing Lexington Catholic, Covington Catholic twice (one game of which was a Saturday afternoon tilt at Clark Co., the day after playing OJ Mayo and Rose Hill...and even going to play George Washington H.S. from WVA, but the tough schedule is great for exposure but WILL NOT DETERMINE the tournament fate of teams. Elliott plays full throttle vs. anybody...they had the state champs down 7 with 2:39 or somehwere around there in the state tournament, they are more than capable of beating anybody in Kentucky, and in the game of basketball, we all know schedule means little when it boils down to that 1st round district tournament in which one special night, somebody can and somewhere around kentucky WILL shock the world....those wins and losses will not be because of the schedule a team has just completed in the regular season however. Each game is different with a different set of circumstances...I do agree that a sturdy schedule is beneficial and helps teams progress, however, it doesn't make a team win or lose when it counts during March Madness.
  23. Hampton gettin' it done in Vanceburg. His players play very hard for him.
  24. Brandon Baker and his staff are outstanding coaches.
