Pittman with another big game. I was told he had 4 dunks, and Holmes had 6 as a team.

Another superb win by the state's most dominant team :thumb: They are definately on a roll.

What a test Coach Henley and A.D. Madrick just put these kids through. Eight games in twelve days (without a loss I might add) with Bryan Station, Ballard, Senecca, Conner, Henderson Co., Tates Creek all very worthy opponets now a victim of a very top notch ball club. All of this coming on the heels of pehaps their biggest win of the year against Scott Co. This group has been put to the test of having to prepare for multiple opponets on consecutive nights for two weeks straight without days of practice to prepare. To Holmes credit they passed and will now settle into a tough rest of the regular season against a group of 9th teams who'll try and make their mark with an upset. Congrats to Coach Henley and the Dawgs, two tourney titles now maybe a day or two of rest before you prepare for the chance to dance in March in Rupp!

Pittman with another big game. I was told he had 4 dunks, and Holmes had 6 as a team.

Eta sent me texts and he had Pittman with 5 dunks, one an awesome alley opp, another a jam where he came under the basket driving baseline. JJ Johnson had 2 dunks and Housley also had 2.

This is just ridiculous. 9 Dunks.

Pittman had close to 20 he said. Holmes jumped out 24 to 11 at half and the 2nd half was even. He said HC is a scrappy team.

If Pittman doesnt start getting some offers from Major D-1's by mid season there is something wrong. He has like 30+ dunks on the year I think.

I know Coach Henley wants his teams getting better defensively and it looks as if they are right on schedule...the really locked teams up last year and this year should be no exception. Another big win for Coach Henley and his bulldog team.

How many DONKS does Pittman have this year!!!;)

Wow. I was told six but 9 is just crazy. This team will dunk you right out of the gym. I heard Pittman was trying to dunk every ball that came off the rim.

There is nothing wrong with an 8-0 stretch especially in twelve days, congrads. But some of the scores make me go mmmmmm?

Just got in from the game.

1st quarter:

Holmes was MUCH bigger than HC so, Henderson came out in a 2-3 zone which forced Holmes to be patient on offense. They hit three 3's in the quarter and led at the end of one 11-4.

2nd quarter:

Got a little more exciting, but overall a pretty boring first half. Holmes first two points came on a break away one handed dunk by Brandon Housely to put them ahead 13-6. Henderson would continue to play a tough man to man defense and really forced Holmes to work hard for every shot. At the half Holmes led 24-11 behind balanced scoring from Pittman (5), Arnold (5), D. Johnson (5), J. Johnson (4), and Housely (5).

3rd quarter:

Third and fourth quarters became a dunk fest and the Elijah Pittman show. JJ started the half off with a steal and two hand dunk and then several possessions later Pittman got a loose ball in traffic, rose up and threw it down hard with two hands over 3 defenders. VERY NEXT POSSESSION, Pittman got the ball on the wing, drove baseline, came under the rim to the other side and threw down a one handed tomahawk dunk. Pittman would go on to score 11 points in the quarter to pace Holmes as they pushed their lead out to 41-27 heading in to the fourth. Ricardo sat out all of the second quarter in foul trouble and picked up his third early in the third quarter and we wouldn't see him again until the 5 minute mark of the 4th.

Fourth quarter:

Henderson came out pressing hard in the 4th was able to go on a 8-2 run to start the quarter and close the gap to 43-35 with 5:47 to play, but that would be as close they got the rest of the game. Holmes would stop that run with a two handed Brandon Housely dunk off a baseline drive. Henderson never seemes to recover after that as Holmes pushed their lead out to 15 and left it there for a while. JJ got another break away dunk in the fourth quarter but the highlight was at the end with one minute to play when Holmes got a two on one break away and Riley threw an alley oop to Pittman who threw it down hard two handed.

Holmes was led by Pittman (20 points), Housely (10 points), and J. Johnson (8 points). I believe Riley finished with just 3 points and Ricardo Johnson was held to 0 points for the first time in his varsity career. He had a chance to score late in the game but missed both free throws. Just wasn't his night.

Henderson is a solid team and has some athletes. Stone and Brock are tough down low. I believe Stone had a dunk off a rebound in the third or fourth quarter. They are very scrappy and play tough m2m defense. Holmes size and athleticism was just too much for them to overcome. Holmes had atleast 10 blocks.

Pittman got MVP of the tournament, R. Johnson, Riley, and Housely also made all tournament team.

For Henderson, Hairlson, Stone, and Brock made all tournament team.

Actually after re counting, it was only 7 dunks. Pittman with 3, Housely with 2, and JJ with 2.

Still 7 isn't bad for a high school game. ;)

Every time I see a Holmes thread, I see a mention and often a count of the number of dunks that Holmes had. I thought I'd pop into this thread because I was just curious, have they revised the KHSAA rules somehow this season so that a dunk counts as more than 2 points?

Conner and Henderson Co both sat back in a 2-3 zone the whole game which was the reason for two low scoring games that were somewhat close. Holmes had a boatload of turnovers tonight. I bet they had ATLEAST 15. They are making way too many mental mistakes right now. Need to get back to the basics and start working on fundamentals. They threw the ball away a lot tonight.

BTW, Henderson came in to this game 11-1. They are a solid team.

Thats still crazy. It seems like they are doing this every game. Pittman dunks when he wants too.

Still counts for two points. Was just giving details from the game. Some folks who are Holmes fans like knowing things like that

It's not very often you see a HIGH SCHOOL TEAM getting 5+ dunks in every game.
