  1. All this talk about how good Scott and Campbell will be in the 37th but no one seems to mention anything about Bishop Brossart. Brossart returns everyone of their starters other than 3 guys. Their pitching will be just as good if not betetr than last year. They return their #2 guy from last year, which is Travis Norton. This kid was a freshmen last year and boy can he play. He started for the Mustangs all last season and can only get better. I cant wait to see how he progresses, he will be one of the top players in NKY by his Junior year. They also gain a pitcher who could not throw last year due to injury but from what his summer coach has said he is a very very good pitcher. They also lose their 2nd baseman/shortstop and their right fielder so they do not lose hardly anything. Their offense will also be just as good and better. The one thing about Brossart that is consistent every year is they always put up a tough fight and this year will not be any different. I would have to say they are probably the favorite to win the 37th District this year. Scott has no pitching except for EJ Murray and he can't win every game for them and once you get passed him their is no one who can beat Brossart. I heard a rumor that Estes of Campbell hurt his arm in summer ball last year and wont be able to throw this season but like i said it could be just a rumor. If however that is the case the Camels are down to no pitching. Ben Franzen is not that good. All im saying is that Brossart does not get anything close to the respect they should get. But then again they never do at the beginning of the season and by the end of the year everyone always says how tough of a team they are to beat. I wish people would just realize and understand that they are a very good baseball school and will be competitive every year. I would think after how Brossart performs each year that people would start talking about them and give them the respect they are due. They always have been and always will be a dangerous team. Im calling it now the Brossart Mustangs WILL win the 37th district this year and will be top 5 in NKY!
  2. I know exactly why. When you play teams with as good of defense as Brossart has it is tough to score. Some people just dont truly understand how good of a defensive team Brosssart really is. Coach Code is known as a defensive mastermind and it shows year in and year out.
  3. The game was 10-6 at half. Brossart won the tip and controlled the ball for the first 2 minutes of the game without even taking a shot. I dont think anyone scored until about 4 minutes left in 1st quarter. Safe to say it was a boring first half of basketball. However Brossart did show some real discipline and heart tonight. Great win for the Mustangs and great to see them come away with a 35-22 win after being tied at I believe 20-20 after the 3rd quarter. Great defense to only allow 2 points the whole 4th quarter. Defense wins Championships and thats one thing Brossart also has is good defense. Congrats Mustangs, keep it going!
  4. I'm not... That's what happens when a very good defensive team comes to play against a not so good team. Brossart looks to be going to Richmond again to represent the 10th region in the All A. They always represent well... Good luck Mustangs in the rest of this tournament as well as in All A play coming up.
  5. Just for the record... Im pretty sure Ryan Eten started in this game and had started a couple times before in his career at the varsity level. As did Andy Franzen. So for you to make this statemtent is completely wrong.
  6. I know Brossart played Lloyd at 2 but thats all i know.
  7. Bishop Brossart is better than number 6 in the region. They are definitely going to make a run. After only losing 1 starter last year I think they are a top 3 team. And I have to agree with striker. Rieger is by far top 5 in the region.
  8. I would say low 40s high 30s should be a great score for girls and should get them a scholarship. If that doesnt I dont know what will.
  9. Yea medalist in All A region in which he played with 3 guys who couldnt even keep their own score. How do you expect them to keep his score and it be correct? Something smells a little fishy about that score. Russel Rigg is not very good and it shows when he plays with people who know the game and know how to keep score. What did he shoot in the All A State last year. Like 88? There you go my point is proven.
  10. Harrison County is going to be the toughest team in the Region next year as they return everyone but Martin. It is going to be wide open other than that. As for Campbell County I do not think they will do hardly anything at all. They lost every starter due to graduation and now from what I hear they lost their Ace, Estes. That has rebuilding year written all over it. I do not think they are going to have what it takes to make it to the regional tournament again. Sorry but young and inexperience has a bigger impact on most teams than young talent does and in this case they wont have much of either one of those. As for Scott being very good again, I'm not so sure. They will be good but I do not think as good as last year. They will no longer have that 1-2 pnch in the pitching rotation that they had last year. Yes, Murray is a very good ballplayer and will be a great leader but last time i checked you need three pitchers to win the regionals and having one pitcher in the season won't help you much either. However I do believe they will make it out of their district but I do not think they will come out as Champions. The 37th District Championship will be back with the Brossart Mustangs this year. Their new coach Matt Grosser will follow right where Coach Rowe left off and will be a great head coach for this team. They did not lose much at all and are going to be very experienced. They will have great defense just like always and have a great pitching staff. Brossart almost beat Scott last year in the District in the 15-14 loss where there were 8 homeruns on what had to be the windiest night of the year. Brossart lost their number 1 pitcher, their second basemen/shortstop, and their right fielder. They also return a pitcher who was hurt all last year but is a very good pitcher. The pitching staff will be anchored by sophomore Travis Norton who was the number 2 or 3 pithcer last year as a freshmen. He also hit around .300 as a freshmen and plays center field. Look for him to develop into a fantastic player. Returning catcher Tony Woeste was the teams biggest power hitter last year who also hit for average. Brossart defeated Clark County and Harrison County last year within 3 days of each other. This shows the potential talent that this team has and I honestly believe Brossart has the best chance of any team to give Harrison a run at the regional title. Remember Brossart always comes ready to play when they have to in any sport. Thats just how they are. They will be a very dominant team in not only the 10th Region but also in all of Northen Kentucky.
  11. Coach Grosser should do a very fine job and I think he will pick up right where Coach Rowe left off.
  12. Wow! I don't understand how Cory Farris did not get any awards. He is every bit as good as Maile. He is absolutely faster and he has a much better arm as well. I think there is something wrong with this.
  13. I heard the reason he was selected later is because he was asking for an awful lot of money. I heard somewhere in the range of 1.8 Million so teams did not want to draft him. But maybe Im wrong. I hope I am because that would be a shame for someone with his talent to be drafted later because of his attitude about the money already.
  14. Sources say that West Jessamine still has two other very good pitchers available including their ace and either their number 2 or 3. Its shaping up to be a very good 3 game series.
  15. Or everyone could have seen how good of a play it was by the catcher. it could go both ways. I think it just depends on whether or not your team won or lost.
  16. What good is it to beat them 4-1 earlier in the season when they didn't throw anybody or even play a few of their starters. I'm pretty sure Harrison is a completely different team in the regionals. Just because you beat a team in the season means nothing once the post-season starts. Although I would say it is almost impossible to beat a team like Harrison twice in one season, especially at their home field. It just doesn't happen. I'm sorry but I do not think one call at the plate lead to you losing by 12. I'm sorry I just do not see any way Campbell could have won that game last night. I think I speak for a lot of people in saying that who ever won the first round game of Harrison vs Clark was going to be the regional champion. I still think it is going to happen. Best of luck to Scott and Harrison both. You both had great seasons but I just think it is too tough to beat Harrison at home in the regional finals. I'll take Harrion in this one.
  17. I completely agree. Coach Rowe did a great job with the talent he was given. Wins against Clark, Harrison, Lloyd, Bellevue, and almost a win against Beechwood and CovCath definitely deserves a coach of the year award. I would give my vote for coach of the year in not only NKY but probably all of Kentucky as well. Coach Rowe is a class act and just an amazing coach and an even better guy.
  18. I'm not sure what you mean by saying any other day this game would be over in 5. Both teams pitchers did an exceptional job and it was very hard to pitch with the wind. Overall it was a great game played by both teams and it was a battle until the end. Both teams were down at one point or another and battled back. 8 homeruns in a high school district game is just unbelieveable. Most of the balls hit last night would have normally been routine fly balls but witht he wind, they became homeruns. This was an outstanding hitting game even if the wind was blowing. I think without the homeruns Brossart wins 6-4. That's baseball. Each team showed a lot of heart and it's a shame that one team had to win. How about this Bishop Brossart team? The progress that they made throughout the year is amazing. This is a team who graduated 8 seniors from last years team and 7 of those 8 seniors started every game. This team returned 3 guys from the Varsity squad last year and those 3 were the only players who had an experience on the Varsity level. At the beginning of this year nobody expected this team to even have anywhere close to 20 wins with the schedule being just as hard as it was last year. They had to replace the whole pitching staff and the whole lineup and when that happens it is very hard for a team to compete. Most people said this team is too young, and won't be any good, they lost too much from last year, but these guys never used any of that as an excuse. They worked hard all year and absolutely got to the point where they were competing in every game they played in. Of course they had some bad games early on but look at their games late in the season and you will see how much better they got. Especially in the month of May. April 21 - Newport Central Catholic L 5-3 April 22 - Bellevue W 4-2 May 6 - Covington Catholic L 10-0 (They were down 2-0 in the 5th before a couple of errors killed them) May 7 - Mason County W 10-0 May 10 - Clark County W 10-4 May 12 - Boone County L 9-4 (Farris had 2 HR and 5 RBI) May 13 - Harrison County W 9-4 May 17 - Beechwood L 7-5 (Game was tied 5-5 in the 7th) May 22 - Scott (District Tourn.) L 15-14 Like I said this team just never gave up. If there was an award to most improved team in Northen Ky this year i would say Bishop Brossart has to be the winner. The things that this team did with such little experience is simply amazing. Throughout the whole year they never got any recognition and they absolutely deserved some. Coach Rowe also has to be one of the best coaches in the State of Kentucky. The way he develops his teams year after year and with the few kids he has because of Brossart being such a small school is outstanding. Congrats to the Scott Eagles but most of all congratulations to the Brossart Mustangs. Yoou boys have nothing to hang your heads about. You all had a great season. To the underclassmen, learn from this year and take it into next year and give it all you got. To the seniors you all had great careers and don't let anyone tell you any different.
  19. Thank you for clearing that up, I was just wondering. And yes Congratulations to Jordan and I wish him the best of luck.
  20. How do you sign when you are not given a scholorship? Thomas More is all walk-ons and I thought you couldn't sign with a D-III school since they are not allowed to offer athletic scholorships.
  21. Travis Norton from Bishop Brossart. This kid can play. He is a great left handed pitcher who also starts in Center field for the Mustangs and he can also hit. He is a stud.
