It was very exciting game at Campbell County. Lots and Lots of homeruns in this contest.

Did Scott go for 2 after their first touchdown or their second touchdown? All joking aside I bet this game was full of emotional and momentum swings. Congrats to the Eagles on the win.

Scott homeruns by Smith (2) Murray(1), and Hankinson (1). Hankinson hit his in the bottom of the 6th inning which gave the Eagles a 3 run lead and the Eagles hold on to win by 1 run. Total of 8 homeruns in this game 4 by each team. 2 grand slams 1 by each team and Brossart hits back to back homeruns in the 7th inning and fall just a little short.

Without a doubt one of the best games ever. Good pitching was getting brutalized tonight. I guess we are going to have to move the fences back or change the name of the field to The Launching Pad. Congrats to Scott on the win.

Scott threw at least 12 walks, there pitching wasn't very good today, any other day this game is over in 5, but both teams crushed the ball, good game by both it was back in fourth. Brossart Showed a lot of heart they were down 14 6 in the top of the six with 2 outs and ended up scoring 6 more runs in the the sixth. They are a well coached team, and should be good next year, I don't believe they lose much.

I think the wind helped some of the homeruns. The wind was blowing hard during the game and then completely died in the CCHS vs. Silver Grove game.

I've never seen a HS game like it. The wind was strong on ground level all afternoon, but obviously stronger given more altitude. Anything hit semi-hard with enough altitude had a chance to find the fence. Two or three of the HRs were crushed, but if not for the wind, some would have been long outs or just extra base hits. From my perspective down the first base line, Adams fouled a pitch off extremely high over the first base dugout that looked to be 2-4 foot out of play and THE WIND blew it back into fair territory where it was caught (a great play by the Brossart first baseman to hang with it).

 

The home plate umpire definitely influenced the situation with an extremely small strike-zone. The pitchers were having to groove everything to get a strike, consequently resulting in a lot of walks and a low number of strikeouts.

I think this game clearly showed how Adams seems to be a shell of his former self from a pitching stand point because only a year ago, he a hd a very very bright future ahead of him on the mound as he was throwing straight up heat leading up to his junior season in scrimmages, etc. and after his injury last year to his arm in the 2nd game of the season he just has never seemed to recover.

 

To my knowledge he has only thrown some heat and consistently done it only two times this year and he just seems to not have what he had before. I can only hope I am wrong about what I've witnessed. Before his junior year over the winter he was throwing mid to high 80s and topped out at around 90, now I'd be suprised if he touching 80 as of yesterday.

District finals?

Nope this was the first round game of the 37th. Adkins got the start for the Eagles and wasn't able to hold the lead for long so they brought Adams in (which is logical as the loser in this game is done for the season) followed by Fite and Sowders

Yes, the wind was a factor in this game.If there was no wind there might have been at the most two home runs in this game. Most of the home runs were carried by the wind. I would have to say Murray's blast needed no wind to get out, that was a shot.

I'm not sure what you mean by saying any other day this game would be over in 5. Both teams pitchers did an exceptional job and it was very hard to pitch with the wind. Overall it was a great game played by both teams and it was a battle until the end. Both teams were down at one point or another and battled back. 8 homeruns in a high school district game is just unbelieveable. Most of the balls hit last night would have normally been routine fly balls but witht he wind, they became homeruns. This was an outstanding hitting game even if the wind was blowing. I think without the homeruns Brossart wins 6-4. That's baseball. Each team showed a lot of heart and it's a shame that one team had to win.

 

How about this Bishop Brossart team? The progress that they made throughout the year is amazing. This is a team who graduated 8 seniors from last years team and 7 of those 8 seniors started every game. This team returned 3 guys from the Varsity squad last year and those 3 were the only players who had an experience on the Varsity level. At the beginning of this year nobody expected this team to even have anywhere close to 20 wins with the schedule being just as hard as it was last year. They had to replace the whole pitching staff and the whole lineup and when that happens it is very hard for a team to compete. Most people said this team is too young, and won't be any good, they lost too much from last year, but these guys never used any of that as an excuse. They worked hard all year and absolutely got to the point where they were competing in every game they played in. Of course they had some bad games early on but look at their games late in the season and you will see how much better they got. Especially in the month of May.

May 6 - Covington Catholic L 10-0 (They were down 2-0 in the 5th before a couple of errors killed them)

May 7 - Mason County W 10-0

May 10 - Clark County W 10-4

May 12 - Boone County L 9-4 (Farris had 2 HR and 5 RBI)

May 13 - Harrison County W 9-4

May 17 - Beechwood L 7-5 (Game was tied 5-5 in the 7th)

May 22 - Scott (District Tourn.) L 15-14

 

Like I said this team just never gave up. If there was an award to most improved team in Northen Ky this year i would say Bishop Brossart has to be the winner. The things that this team did with such little experience is simply amazing. Throughout the whole year they never got any recognition and they absolutely deserved some. Coach Rowe also has to be one of the best coaches in the State of Kentucky. The way he develops his teams year after year and with the few kids he has because of Brossart being such a small school is outstanding. Congrats to the Scott Eagles but most of all congratulations to the Brossart Mustangs. Yoou boys have nothing to hang your heads about. You all had a great season. To the underclassmen, learn from this year and take it into next year and give it all you got. To the seniors you all had great careers and don't let anyone tell you any different.
