6 errors by Campbell, three in the first inning, but gave up just one run.

HC committed five errors themselves, but the difference was Harrison Co. lefty Brandon Martin. He was dominant and able to overcome his teammates misplays. He pitched five innings and struck out 10. HC led 7-0 after 5 and Coach Whitaker lifted Martin for freshman Ryan Durbin to start the sixth. Martin is now eligible to pitch in the title game on Saturday evening since he went five innings or less. Had he pitched one more inning, he would have been ineligible to pitch on Saturday. Not sure how many coaches would have the kahunas to lift a starter in that situation...maybe a few. Durbin lasted two batters, giving up a walk and a hit. Seniior Cliffton Snider came on and surrendered a hit or two and eventually two runs, but that was as close as CC would get.

Snider hit a walk-off grand slam in the sixth for the final margin.

According to WCYN broadcaster Jim Swinford, Martin is now 12-0 on the year with a ERA of 0.33. WOW!!

What happened to the Camel's bats? I thought they would erupt tonight...afraid not. How did they manage the two runs?

Martin is a very good pitcher and is the reason the Camels bats were silent.

He should do very well at the next level.

 

The play at the plate in the second inning just took all the momentum out of Campbell County's sails. The Umpire at home is without a doubt either blind or disoriented. The Camel runner was safe by a mile and this is without a doubt the biggest turning point in this game. If he had not made such a bad call the score would have been tied 1-1 with a runner on 1st and 3rd with nobody out. This was a shame and the ump knew this. You know when the Karma comes rolling around you need to remember these things.

Sorry Mark Hinkle I guess I am just a little upset still from the game.

The play at the plate was bad, but I think what took the MO from Campbell was the 6 errors. I realize that a call can weigh heavily on the players, but you cannot make that many errors against HC and their number 1 and expect of be in the game.

I agree with you to a point but everyone plays different when they are tied or ahead. Harrison had just made 2 errors at that point and that play took them off the hook instead of being tied with a runner on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. I guarantee you that Martin the pitcher was breathing a little easier at that point. Look I am not saying that Campbell would have won, but I am saying that it would have been a better game. Martin is a phenomenol pitcher and his record and era prove that but he also does not need this kind of help.

There was another play in the 4th inning where they had a flyout to our left fielder who threw the kid out running from second but instead of the umpire who was in front of the bag making the call the second base umpire called him safe. The ump at second was in no position to make that call. All I am saying is Harrison County is hard enough to beat at home with a fair game being called.

If it was on TV then I find it hard to believe that everyone could not have seen how bad of a call it was.
