Is this the same Newman family that works for the Enquirer? I have been seeing quite a few pics in the paper lately taken by a Newman. I agree with you that he was a force on JV. It just hasn't panned out for him on the Varsity level because of injuries. Hopefully he gets healthy and can compete this year. It will take a healthy one at that, because HHS has a ton of qaulity players lickin their chops to play.

And for what it's worth, the one Jones hit against HHS at Bellevue, landed on 2nd base on other field. If you know Bellevue, that would be about 375 also. So not many fields holding those balls in for the doubters!

Yes you would, but with some very nice hitting and fielding for Bellevue and some very untimely errors by Highlands, Highlands won't win too many like this one. If you make routine plays, then these games are in the win column!

That's right! He played football 3 seasons ago for Scott's freshman team. I think he was the QB.

Are you kidding me. With all the talent they have down there, someone can step in and play one of those two positions. VanSant used to play some second and he's a pretty good former "kid". You know what is sooo funny is that all the rules violations that they are alleged of didn't even work for them. What have they won on the football field. Not a State Championship!!! I guess if you are going to do it, then do it right.

I along with many more wish he(they) missed it as much also. I don't know about forcing, but encouraging may be the right word. Highlands isn't in the position to have top qaulity athletes not playing multiple sports because they want to concentrate on one because they feel they will be left behind on the field if they don't participate in other sports. HHS just doesn't have the numbers. It's just not true for the boys I'm talking about. It doesn't matter if they are in an extra 10 spring practices for them to progress to the next level. They are just that gifted and good for them. You may not agree with me but that's my opinion. I've been told before over and over that HHS wished there wasn't spring ball, because it does just that, takes away from spring sports, but they are not going to not participate if it's available either. I guess in time, parents and kids will figure it out.
