Henry Clay 12 Cov Cath 4

Featured Replies

Is Henry Clay that good or is Cov. Cath. just looking weak?

Heard CCH committed a lot of errors (infield) down in Lex this past weekend.

IMO they have a weak link at Short Stop. Could hurt them later in the year when they need a big play in the region tournament.

I heard this player had seven errors down in Lexington last weekend and went without hit.

You are correct. There may have even been a few more. IMO Cov Cath has some work to do with their ss and 2nd base. No one is stepping up defensively or offensively at these positions. They really appear to miss Shover.

One would sure think as much. Makes you wonder about some of these other posters that were just raving about the talents of the current SS and how Shover wasn't really needed.

It also makes it tough when you hear this and you have some kids at other schools in the near vicinity who have to sit because there is a lot of talent at those positions at their school.

Many of the Cov Cath faithful were talking about how they would be just fine without Shover, and now you hear about the numerous errors by there middle infield. It makes you think, do they really know what they are talking about. I have said for years that Shover is a better player than Holocher and he should start over him, but due to politics and other things, Holocher has been given numerous oppurtunities and is still given them time and time again. I just wish Shover would have came out for the team this year, he would of had a big impact.

Agreed. Its tough for cov cath to have a set infield line up now with such short notice. They have already had 4 different people at 2nd base in 4 games. It started with Eggemeier, then to Shlagbaum (soph.), a couple innings for Seimer (soph.) and now it's Lafever. Once their infield is set and stone I'm sure there will be much improvement.

Are you kidding me. With all the talent they have down there, someone can step in and play one of those two positions. VanSant used to play some second and he's a pretty good former "kid". BTW, don't play the blame game with those in the know. Seeing right through that one. It's all working out anyway!

What about Pat Eggemeier? I know he has a lot of experience at second. Grew up playing that position. VanSant could play that position for sure. But then again, not many center fielders make that play last night against Dixie when he tracked down the deep fly in the gap. That boy has lots of speed.
