  1. Does not mater how many actually played college ball. We are talking about talent. I know for a fact all of those players had bona fide offers. Some of them chose not to play or go to school for various reasons. Playing at any level beyond high school takes a lot of talent. McFarland, Earls, and others on that team were capable scorers. Boone was one of the highest scoring teams in the state that year, and Krohman averaged about 15 per game.
  2. Earls, Gabbard, Popp, and Cotton all got college offers off last year's team. Flannery was also on that team until his sophomore year and transferred. He is playing on a full ride at an NAIA school I believe. McFarland the year before that. Spaulding from that team played football in college. Krohman the year before that. Story got offers too. D. McFarland and Travis Rasso in 2004. Also, Joel Fox got an offer from that team. Cory Farris was also on the team until his senior year but did not play his senior year because he did not care for Coach M. From this year's team, Montgomery and Brown would have the opportunity to play at the next level. Also possibly Crabtree, especially because of his height. I think Holmes had 3 from their last year's team (maybe 4?), and a couple the year before that, and Henderson the year before that, and a couple (Rice and Avery?) the year before that. There were a couple seasons where Boone would beat Conner three times handily in the regular season and then get upset in the district tournament. Or have a great record early on and a mediocre to losing record the last half/third of the season. They choked in several games that counted.
  3. I believe He actually had a career losing record in the 10 or 15 years before Boone County. Boone has had a lot of talent the last 4-5 years. Next year will be a drop-off. Sounds like differences of opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
  4. I'm sure McQueary's five 3s didn't hurt any! If he was not on, they may have lost.
  5. Getting 10 from Crabtree certainly helps. Boone will need that every game in Montgomery's absence, especially if teams decide to guard McQueary's three point shots.
  6. Boone County may be a little so far. I think they were picked #2 or #3 in the 9th and are currently ranked 5th with a 9-5 record. Still plenty of time, however.
  7. Yes, that is Boone JV's only loss. Boone's JV has been overachieving this year, IMO. Did not expect them to win this many. I believe the title of thread is about the game, not the Campbell County coaching situation.
  8. They may continue to struggle without Montgomery's athleticism and extra rebounding. Without him, I think they may be the 5th best team in the 9th region at best. Brown will not be able to do it all by himself. Someone else will need to step up.
  9. Boone did not play to their strength the last couple of years either. They had some good guards, and the offense was more half-court motion than dribble drive or pushing the tempo.
  10. Yeah, last couple of years, the offense was told to pound it inside to Earls, Brown,, Lay, or whoever, and they got chastized or removed when they missed threes. Before too long, several of Boone's players were very hesitant to take threes, and it subsequently showed in their confidence and shooting. This is the year that Boone should pound the ball in the most with Brown on the post and 6'9" Crabtree inside to get rebounds.
  11. I'm hearing the nickname for their defense this year is the Zane zone? I guess matching up man to man is not a strength of McQueary? Usually a great shooter on offense when he has an open catch and shot, however.
  12. Moss came out for awhile earlier for a time or two, however, too. If Moss is double teamed, Boone has some three-point shooters that can burn you. Moss was on a mission and not to be denied.
  13. The J.V. game was played, however, with Boone winning. Their J.V. team is 8-1 now, with their only loss to Notre Dame. This bodes well for Boone's varsity next year.
  14. Everyone on the bench got in for a lot of minutes. Moss only played about 3 quarters. Two reserves scored in double figures.
  15. Very sorry to hear this. Travis is a great kid and player. I believe he will still have the opportunity to play at the next level regardless of whether he makes it back this season. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Boone Co. is going to miss him if he can't return this year.
  16. Good point. Same situation with Boone's 2010 class last few years. They did well but had even more success on the AAU circuit. High school coaches are sometimes pretty rigid with their systems.
  17. Doellman used to bring the ball up the court regularly.
  18. I will be interested in the matchups with Pike and Thelen. Brown won the first matchup with Stauffer IMO. He just put up 31 against the #1 team in KY, scored half of his team's points in doing so, and did it against 4 committed D1 players. I think his lowest game has been about 17 points. Lots of boards to go along with that too..
  19. Brown has my vote for player of the year so far in the 9th region. Definitely a first teamer.
  20. I don't think Boone will see a class come through like the 2010 class for quite sometime. Several of them played 3 to 4 years. That said I think Boone has a great shot to win the 9th region this year.
  21. Conner did not show me anything. Guards not quick enough to penetrate or shoot Boone out of their zone. Brown thoroughly outplayed the Conner big men. Conner missed a lot of free throws. Brown has my vote for player of the year in the 9th so far. He was a beast again for which Conner had no answer. Boone looks to be the number 1 team in the 9th this year.
  22. Who comes out, however? Downs? Boone has been using a one guard offense a lot. Montgomery, Brown, and McQuery are all also going to start and be in there a lot, and Crabtree gives them a lot more height at the 5. If he comes out, they lose a lot of their size advantage.
  23. Was not at the game, but by the score, it looks like WV got it handed to them.
