  1. IMHO, he is not the best senior in the state of Kentucky. Nice player, but not even close.
  2. I agree! His family moving to Scott County for work was the best thing that could have happened to him from at least from a basketball standpoint. Otherwise, I don't think he would have had near the same opportunities as a Boone County player: Scott won the district and region. He is having a great year and has been a big part of their success as a starter. Scott Co. is in the state tournament. Flannery has a scholarship offer to play at the next level.

  4. I think the 2010 class did pretty well overall at Boone, with players starting since their freshman year. Boone's record while they were there and with players starting was 84-34, including a conference championship, district championship, and regional runner up. I still expect a few of these players to have a chance to play college sports if they so desire. I think Boone will have a pretty good team again next year too. Montgomery and Brown especially will have a good year. Burgess could also be a scorer for them, and he has good length. Crabtree's height will help too. Several teams from NKY are losing a LOT of good seniors this year. The 2010 class was loaded overall. McFarland had a great senior year, and he was hard for Boone to replace because of his length, ball handling, rebounding, smart play, interior passing, etc. I always thought that Boone's best shot at going far with the 2010 class was going to be their junior year. I do believe that Boone's 2010 class struggled with that system but still did well despite it not entirely suiting their abilities and style of play. Never did see this class get out and run much while there. Saw a limited amount of pressing this year too.
  5. Forgot NCC. Here is my revised list. I think Stewart could make Highlands a middle of the pack team if he gets any help. Middle of the pack (5 through 8) is more interchangeable. 1. Conner 2. Dixie 3. Boone 4. Holmes 5. NCC 6. Highlands 7. Holy Cross 8. CCH 9. Ryle 10. Beechwood
  6. 1. Conner 2. Dixie 3. Boone 4. Holmes 5. Highlands 6. Holy Cross 7. CCH 8. Ryle 9. Beechwood
  7. Nice game by Earls and Gabbard clutch at the end.
  8. Agree. Boone needs scorers and needs to be able to stop the three-point shot to win this one. They have struggled to get out of the 50s this year, but they have been saved in several games by defense. Brown is probably Boone's best scorer. Brown and Gabbard and Earls must have good games. I also agree with Walter that it will be a 5-point game. Hope Boone can win.
  9. There is no confirmation of Popp turning his uniform in like Schulze supposedly did so I would not speculate one way or the other.
  10. I don't think there is any official word one way or the other, so it probably should not be discussed yet.
  11. It wasn't attempted "mutiny" by 2010 class. It was the 2009 class leading it.
  12. Up to this point, Sewell is the most deserving of the award. If Sewell's team gets knocked out early in the post season and/or he play poorly, then that may leave the door open for another player to sneak in if their team makes a deep run and they play well.
  13. I know Schulze turned his uniform in last week, and Popp did not show up at practice yesterday. Why do you think Popp quit over playing time issues? He was playing a lot the last couple of games again after slowly coming back from being out a few games from sickness. I know he was struggling to regain his playing form coming off the bench after his return and had good moments and bad in those games. Its no secret that he and his coach have had interpersonal issues over the last year and a half. Blame/fault does not always lie entirely with the players in situations like this, and I would not rush to condemn the kids. This type of thing has happened before at Boone each of the last few years with seniors quitting during or before the season and players transferring. Plus, they are teenagers. I'm sure they make some mistakes and need to learn and mature. That being said, if players aren't having fun for whatever reason or happy with their situation, than why stay and be miserable? Plenty of people move on to other jobs in the working world or transfer to other teams in college because they aren't happy in a particular situation. I know that Popp and Schulze have been good players and loved basketball for many years and not had problems like this before, so it is sad it has come to this.
  14. OK, so runner up in 2007, champs in 2009 and 2010. Where did they finish in 2008?
  15. Scratch that. It WAS 3 years in a row and a runner up the season before that. Also won the freshman championship last year and the year before that.
  16. I think it was just two years in a row and a runner up before that, but still good.
  17. I agree. Hatton played well (shot well) on offense. Gabbard still was in double figures and had several assists. Would like to see Hatton play better/tighter defense, but he has 4 years to learn and should have a good career.
  18. I think Boone should win by 20 to 25 on their home floor. They have enough depth to absorb one or two guys being out. Their top 7-8 have all started multiple games this season, and there is very little drop off. They are a very balanced team. Nobody averages more than 9 points a game, and their top 7 all average about 6 to 9 points a game.
