Final from Florence. Earls and Brown couldnt be stopped. Good win on Senior Night and Homecoming for the Rebs. This game was no where near as close as the score shows. I dont think Dixie held a lead at all throughout the entire game. IMHO without Hatton in the lineup Dixie has NO shot at winning another game this season. Every time he touches the ball he does something with it. Hatton owned Gabbard tonight. I believe Hatton ended up with about 25 points. The next high scorer after that was Pike with I believe about 10 or 12. Dixie had no body that could even come close to stopping Earls or Brown. Both of them had to shoot about 75% from the field today. Overall Boone looked good. Dixie looked sluggish other than Hatton.

Nice rebound W for the Rebels.

 

Sounds like Earls continued his hot streak after a big night against the Dogs on Wednesday.

Shack I appreciate the summary and exuberance but saying Gabbard got owned on SR night might be a little harsh. I'm sure he's happy with the result. I also think you are going to see a lot of this from Dixie over the next few years. Hatton will get his 25 but not so sure he gets the support he needs to get the big victories.

Wow, nice game out of the Hatton boy against a Boone team (that I think has a very good chance to reach Rupp).

I agree. Hatton played well (shot well) on offense. Gabbard still was in double figures and had several assists. Would like to see Hatton play better/tighter defense, but he has 4 years to learn and should have a good career.

I agree. I don't think Gabbard "got owned" by Hatton. I thought Gabbard had a great night running the offense as usual and getting the ball to his open teammates with several assists. He also was scoring when he needed to. It was nice to see him taking some outside shots. I think he also shot 100% from the FT stripe if I'm not mistaken.

Gabbard did what was needed to help his team win, and yes to say he was "owned" is a bit much. It was not only Gabbard that was scored on last night, Boone played some pretty bad defense ALL night in all 5 positions. We do have to give Hatton credit though, because he was big for Dixie on the offensive end. Even though he is an older than usual 8th grader, he handles himself and the game more maturely as the years go by. He will definitely be one of the dominant guards in the years to come ahead of him. Question is, will he stay at Dixie?

Yes he will be at Dixie. Ive talked to him on several occasions and he wont give a definite yes or no but he says he plans on playing baseball throughout his high school career and he plans on playing football. His best sport IMO is baseball. He also said he likes baseball better. Why would he switch to Holmes when the sports team might succeed in 1 out of the 3 sports he might play. The future looks great for Dixie sports. If he plays all 3 of his sports at Dixie, Dixie will have a legitimate shot to go deep in the playoffs in each sport each of his years at Dixie. At least a more legitimate shot at Dixie than he would have at Holmes playing those sports. Also theres a good chance he will be playing some Varsity time this year in baseball for Dixie so we'll see. :sssh:

I only say this because it looked like the Dixie guards beat him physically and mentally. He was frustrated the entire game with the Colonel guards. Do you not remember when he got a foul called on him while trying to guard Hatton about midway through the 3rd and he slammed the ball on the ground and started mouthing off? Colonels were in his head all night. Also I think the success Hatton had off him was getting him frustrated too. He's a very fine player but his emotions got the best of him this game.
