  1. PG Jessica Jones. Also key reserve Switzert was out.
  2. Boone was missing a point guard and another key sub. McAuley is ranked 5th in Cincinnati. Moss was still the best player on the floor. Just did not have a lot of help other than Shrout. Browning had plenty of open looks but was not hitting last night. Boone's JV team won by 3.
  3. Is He a point guard? Downs plays that. He was in most of the game. I can't really see him not playing. After all, his dad is also one of the coaches. Both coaches' sons started. I thought both did pretty well in this game.
  4. Burgess got in a couple times but had a couple turnovers/bad passes/shots and came out quickly each time. Appears he is on a shorter leash.
  5. I like Stanley. Smart player. I think he should see more time. Was surprised Pitts did not play at all. I was also impressed with the sophomore Mays from Ryle. He is going to have a good high school career. Good shooter.
  6. Not one of his better games. He struggled shooting from outside and with ball handling/turnovers and missed a dunk, but I'm sure he will bounce back. I think he had about 8 points, with maybe half coming on free throws near the end?
  7. Brown had about 24 and McQueary 25. Stauffer had a good game for Ryle. He and Mays had the best games for Ryle. Brown was a rebounding beast inside. All of his shots were layups and stickbacks. McQueary was a dead-eye shooter. They left him open, and he caught and shot. I don't think he put the ball on the floor to score the whole game. Boone was up 19, and Ryle had it down to 7 with 2 minutes, but Boone was in the double bonus most of the second half, while Ryle did not make bonus until the 4th quarter. Boone had several turnovers. They had a big size advantage on Ryle and sat in a zone the entire game.
  8. Correction, he coached at Caldwell Co., and Bardstown Independent before that: At Caldwell: 03/04: 7-19 record, Lost 1st district game 02/03: 8-17, 1 and out in district 01/02 11-16, 1 and out 00/01 14-14, dist runner up, lost first round regional tourney 99/00 12-14, 1 and out 98/99 15-13, dist runner up, loast first regiional game 97/98 8-18, 1 and out Prior to that was Bardstown, where I believe there was similar or less success. I'm surprised Boone co., one of the largest schools in the state, would hire a coach who had only one about 40% of games over a 10-15 year period before that.
  9. I believe he had a losing record in about 10 years before coming to Boone. May have been at McCreary Central? and possibly one other school? No regional championships. Maybe a couple district championships. I think 2004 was his first season at Boone.
  10. I'm think he will play a good part on Scott Co. team this year.
  11. Where was Barber? You think Hayes will be better than Hatton this year? I hear the guard transfer from Holmes is looking good at Boone and could end up starting.
  12. Is Botang the senior a transfer? What position does he play?
  13. I don't believe he was there in the WKU/Campbellsville scrimmage.
  14. I played semi-pro with them for several years. Roller was a better football player, IMO.
  15. Played with both of them. Roller was the toughest player I've ever seen.
  16. I played several years with Roller. One of the meanest linebackers I've ever seen. The other team's running backs absolutely were terrified of running against him. He reminded me of Jack Lambert. Often had the blood over the bridge of the nose. I remember having to turn him around to face the other team on a goalline stand because he hit the running back so hard on the play before, he didn't know where he was. The running back just crumpled and left the game. Roller stayed in. He was tough!
  17. Well. Boone Co. won the NKY regular season poll in 2009, was one of the only teams to beat Holmes during their state championship that same year, and lost on a missed layup in the regional championship rematch. Holmes was only the second NKY team to win state ever, so I think this Boone team deserves some mention.
  18. Abysmal year for Boone. I don't see a lot of hope for the next few years either.
  19. Don't think you can say one team is clearly better after a 2 point victory, especially since Highlands likely would have made both extra point kicks if the coach had not chosen to go for two. If this game were played again tomorrow on Highlands field, Highlands would win by a larger margin IMO. Regardless, Highlands will have the better chance of winning a state championship than Ryle. For Highlands to have accomplished what they have being a smaller school than Ryle speaks for itself. You can't say one team is better than the other over the whole year unless they were to play a third game this season. How about strength of schedule and quality wins and point differentials against other teams. I would be curious to know all of those things. High school BCS standings anyone Seriously, they have played head to head twice and split. Who is the better team is subjective, unless you want to try to figure out a BCS type formula based on their other games.
  20. I could care less if his father held him back for athletic advantage. I'm merely stating that you would expect him to be mature since he is as old as most seniors. If he keeps his composure, he will have a good year.
  21. Agree about #3 above (Pike maturing), especially since he is the age of a typical senior anyway.
  22. Hatton is a great scorer and if he defends one of the weaker offensive players from the other team, and someone else on Dixie can lock down the the other team's scorer, I'm sure Hatton's points and the point differential compared to the person he guards will be much more meaningful for Dixie.
  23. Maybe one of the better scorers, but his shooting percentages were not the best in NKY last year, according to the online NKY stats.
