Dixie looks very good on paper this year. If they can keep everyone healthy, they will make some noise in the ninth....

Keys for Dixie:

1. Trammel stays healthy.

2. Hatton becomes a lock down defender.

3. Pike matures and becomes a complete player on both ends. Needs to play with the poise of a senior.

Agree.... Pike can be a force when he's focused.

I'm looking forward to the Trammel / Hatton combo in action.

This year's team will have the ability to run the floor and will be strong with the 3-ball.

If Pike can stay on the floor and not give into his temptation to hammer others Dixie can be there in the end.

He will probably have a rough December. Hopefully he adjusts after that.

December is "get in basketball shape" for football players. I put no stock in December basketball.

I don't see Hatton becoming a lock down defender. I see him being a big time scorer that requires you to put your best defender on him- and he still scores at will.

I agree with you. He has no interest in defending and never has over the past 4 yrs. Why would you when you shoot 30 times a game and make 17 of them? If Chavalier is smart he will focus on having Trammel deal to both Hatton and Pike and allow those two the opportunity to put up 50+ a game combined. Let Stansbury be your lockdown defender or maybe some other kid off the bench.

If Hatton wants to play at the major level he will definitely need to defend better and he likely will but until they make him he will continue to pour in 20+ a game.

I really can't see that scenario working for Dixie. You have Trammel, who is a senior and very capable of taking over games himself. Why would you want him to defer points to two younger players? Hatton will get his and so will Pike, but I see production from Hatton going down from last with the addition of Trammel. Not a bad thing because points will come easier for the team, but more diversified.

I agree with your diversification analysis. I honestly think any of the 3 mentioned can have big nights plus Stansberry who has a deadly three point shot.

I like Dixie as one of the top 2-3 teams in the 9th. Trammel, Hatton, Pike and Stansberry are as good or better than anybody elses 4 in the region. Not sure who is going to step up and be that 5th starter or what kind of depth they might have this year. If everybody stays healthy they have as good a shot as anyone but you can probably say that about 8 teams this year in the region

I think you will see the Muntis kid contribute. Probably not scoring but will big "big."

strong kid...he'll be out on the floor the minute Pike runs over a couple of people.

Hatton is a great scorer and if he defends one of the weaker offensive players from the other team, and someone else on Dixie can lock down the the other team's scorer, I'm sure Hatton's points and the point differential compared to the person he guards will be much more meaningful for Dixie.
