Moss was off in the first half. Whether or not that had anything to do with the booing, that is when it was most prevalent.. -

I played and never saw or experienced booing a player like that. -

Booing a top player is something I would expect in an NBA game, not at kids' games. That showed a total lack of class by the Ryle student body. Some players may thrive on it, but I thibnk it is very distracting. -

That's what I thought about Cheesman. Why not overplay/sit on her right hand? Her left-hand dribble looked shakey to me. There was a Ryle guard in the JV game that did the same thing. -

If that is the case, then it may have changed back to the way it used to be again. -

I believe only one game used to count for seeding but now both games do. -

9th Region JV Championship Game

Boone only had 3 losses - two to NDA, and the one-pointer to Conner in the JV semifinal, which, frankly, they could have won if they did not try to shoot the ball with the lead and 20 seconds to go. All good teams, however. I think NDA especially was very good this year. NCC also had a good team. Kiernan was most impressive for them. All 4 of these teams have some good players who will help their varsity teams next year. Looks like Ryle also has a decent JV team. -

Nice game by Stanley. Smart player too. -

9th region overall talent level is down this year and the 9th is wide open this year. -

If I'm another coach, I let Brown and Crabtree get their points and contest all of McQueary's threes. He is too good a shooter to leave open, and he doesn't usually create his own shot. The other Boone guards will hit a 3 or two but not enough to burn a team. Seems like when Boone beats good teams, McQueary usually has a good shooting game and makes several threes. Teams are able to focus on him more now without Montgomery playing. -
Allows less athletic defenders to guard quicker/stronger guards. I think if it were called consistently again, players would adjust. Watch a college game from 30 years ago and note that defenders moved their feet and stayed in front of their man and did not hand check like they do today.

Transfer Foster made all the difference in the world last year for Newport. They had some decent players, but he pushed Newport over the top last year.

Tough loss for Boone. I think it was noted at the start of the season that although Boone was very big, they would not have a lot of depth as in the past. Montgomery getting hurt did not help things. Looks like Brown and Crabtree did their parts offensively. Did Scott's guards do most of the damage then? -

It is fine for you to express your opinion. Why bash others who disagree with your opinion? Coach M seems like a good guy. Again, not questioning his character. This year, he is starting to make adjustments that he has not made in the past, and he seems to be adapting his game plan to the strengths of his players as a coach should. I truly hope he keeps it up. Boone will lose a lot after this year. If Boone has another good season next year and are one of the top teams in the 9th again, that will be impressive. Getting back to the game, the win over New Cath was a good win, considering the loss of Montgomery. -

I don't think Boone had more talent than Holmes, but they could have beaten them a couple of the times. They did once, and they had two other close games in the last couple of years. I do think Boone was better than Conner and Ryle who upset them in the districts 3 of the last 4 years. -

Thanks. I see Boone's out there now. Good to see kids get individual recognition too. -

Thanks, I haven't noticed the stats being posted for any teams in the paper this year either. -

I do think this is another thing that should be focused on more. The girls coach at Boone appears to take a more active interest in the feeder schools, freshman team, etc. I think this can only help. -

I also note that curiously enough, Boone does not report any individual statistics this year like they have in the past and like most other teams do. What is the reasoning for that? -

Pitts, Downs, and Stanley are all good guards. Popp, Gabbard, and Schultze were good guards on the previous team. I don't think Boone has had enough talent to win a state championship. District and regional championships would be the first goal. They have one district championship in the last 5-6 years. -

Not just anyone can play D3 either. Both McFarlands and Gabbard played above D3. I think Listerman, Steiner, Booher, Hicks, Carr, and Faust are all better coaches in NKY and/or generally get more from less talent. -

The point was about talent level to play college ball--not non-basketball skills. I am not questioning Coach M's character. I have talked to several ex-players and heard comments from others, and they did not like playing for Coach M or did not share your opinion. -

Earls averaged 14 points a game, McFarland 11-12, and Flannery about 9-10 that same year... -
