  1. I think JV records are misleading since young players will often play varsity instead of JV if they are good enough. Boone County's JV was 10-2 in summer ball against Cincinnati (including Roger Bacon) and NKY teams and are 5-0 so far now. 3-4 freshmen start JV or get significant playing time, and 4 have seen varsity action. One starts varsity. They have a lot of good young talent coming up. These freshmen placed third at the KBA 8th-grade middle school tournament last year. Their freshman team is 9-0 this year. They have played freshmen, JV, and varsity at various times.
  2. They play Jan. 17 at Boone, unless Highlands is also in the Holy Cross Holiday Tournament. Remains to be seen how many of their best freshman players will play. Not all of them have been playing in each game. Big Earls is strictly varsity. Gabbard, Popp, and Flannery have also logged varsity minutes already and all start or are key players on the undefeated J.V. squad. Cotton is also playing J.V. now.
  3. Boone also plays 15 away games and only 8 home games this year because of their gym/parking situation. I think they will surprise some and contend well with all of the teams. They are young but deep. They will definitely finish in at least the top 5-10 this year, although they weren't picked to even finish in the top 10 by most before the season started.
  4. Agreed. Boone also has a solid freshman class. One starts varsity, and a couple others start JV and have seen varsity minutes in both games. Two others also play JV. Boone has the top 2 players from RA Jones team last year. Boone's freshmen from Ockerman had a very similar record to Ryle over the three years. Mullins is a good guy. Both schools should have good teams the next few years and have some good games. Ryle losing 6'6" freshman Griffin McKenzie to Moeller hurts that class some, though.
