  1. Mason County - Setty. Scott County Bryan Station - Mack (has to be one of the better seniors in the state this year).
  2. He plays for the OBC Adidas Kentucky Patriots since 2004.
  3. That still ranks them pretty high in KY in terms of male enrollment. Henry Clay, St. X, and Trinity all have great sports programs too. Henry Clay in both basketball and football, and St. X and Trinity in football. The more male students, the better the chances for good boys teams year in and year out.
  4. Scott Co. is going to continue to have good football and basketball teams with the influx of population and transfers and only one county school in a quickly growing area with Toyota. How many male students do they have? I've heard they want to put in a technology school to minimize the impact on sports in Scott Co. of adding another high school. Hopefully, that's not true. Boone Co. is quickly growing but will have 4 public high schools after the new one is added in the next year.
  5. They also had trouble against Scott Co. pressure late. Good team, but Boone is no slouch of a team either.
  6. Take away their poor second quarter with sub-par shooting, and Boone outscored Scott Co. in the rest of the game. Nonetheless, a team has to be able to consistently put together 4 good quarters against good teams. Boone still fared well in this tournament for being young (4 sophs who play significant time), and they will continue get better. One of their 3-point shooters, a senior, was sick and unable to play today. He had been playing well in this tournament. Otherwise, it might have been a closer game. Boone could use one more good 6'4 post player.
  7. They play Pineville at 6:00, and if they win, they play Scott Co. in the quarterfinals at 9:00.
  8. In that case, I'll take Scott Co. over Montgomery Co. in the final. Looks like more of the stronger teams are in Scott's Co. half of the bracket.
  9. Play-in game: East Jessamine vs. Knox Central Scott Co. vs. Play-in Boone Co. vs. Pineville June Buchanan vs. Cawood Fern Creek vs. Elliot Co. Play-in game: Lexington Christian vs. Wayne Co. Montgomery Co. vs. play-in Middlesboro vs. Clay Co. Hazard vs. Franklin Simpson Cumberland vs. Tates Creek PREDICTIONS: Round of 8: Scott Co. vs. Boone Co. (Scott by 8) June Buchanan vs. Elliot Co. Montgomery Co. vs. Clay Co. Hazard vs. Tates Creek Semifinals: Scott Co. vs. Elliot Co. Montgomery Co. vs. Tates Creek Finals: Scott Co. over Tates Creek Scoot Co. looks like the team to beat again. Elliot, Boone, Tates Creek, and Montgomery have all played pretty equally well.
  10. Heard Euton shot about 70% from 3 for the camp.
  11. Chris Richards, Clay Coleman (Ryle), G'lawn Guyn.
  12. Couple boys from Central Crossing, Ohio. I think one of them used to be at Rose Hill. I think one is a Junior and the other a freshman. Name might be Barnes? I think their Dad used to coach them at Central Crossing. Both are supposed to be good. One is a point guard. They are also picking up a senior transfer who is supposed to be pretty good.
  13. Elliot won its first two games. Tates Creek beat South Laurel by 20 Boone beat Boyle Co. by 29 and Cordia by 32. They play Knott Central tonight, who beat Boyle by 14 and Cordia by 22. Scott Co. beat St. Patrick 82-29. June Buchanon won their games yesterday.
  14. I hope for the best for Dakotah and Chad, but I think Elliot County will give them all they can handle and have to be the favorites in the 16th for the next couple of years unless Rose Hill's incoming transferees provide those two boys a good enough supporting cast. IMO, a good squad has to have a strong starting 5 and at least 2 strong bench players.
  15. How many/which of the teams in the tournament were in the Sweet sixteen this past season? I know Scott Co., Elliot Co, and June Buchanon.
  16. Pools: Pool 1 Scott County, Middlesboro, St. Patrick, Rockcastle County Pool 2 June Buchanan, Montgomery County, Owen County, Lynn Camp Pool 3 Tates Creek , Southwestern, Russell, South Laurel Pool 4 Elliott County, Jackson County, Sayre, Cumberland Pool 5 Somerset, Hazard, KY Homeschoolers, Cawood Pool 6 Breathitt County, Franklin Simpson, East Jessamine, Red Bird Pool 7 Clay County, LCA, Buckhorn, Monticello Pool 8 Pineville, Butler, Wayne County, Oneida Baptist Pool 9 Boone County, Knox Central , Cordia, Boyle County I think the top teams are Scott County, June Buchanon, Elliot County and Boone County. Scott County is the clear favorite. Boone would have to play Scott County either in the round of 16 or 8 because of their seeding, and I can't see Boone winning that one.
  17. Boone is very deep in the 2009 and 2010 classes. 4 2010 and 3 2009 players will start and/or play a lot of varsity. The J.V. consists of about 10 from 2010 and a couple from 2009. They are in need of one more 6'4" or better player to complement Earls (6'6") and McFarland (6'5"). Beyond those two, there isn't a lot of size at Boone. They will be good anyway, but with one more decent big man, they could be almost unbeatable in the 9th before too long. Flannery is about 6'2" and could grow to 6'4", so that should help.
  18. Miller was not there, but Middleton and their other good player played well. Their team was physical in rebounding. Lots of over the back in the game, but not many fouls or 3 second violations are called in summer games. Not sure how they did in their other games.
  19. Agree. Most teams I see have been rotating all of their players generously.
  20. Against SK, Boone lost the first half by 4 and won the second half by 2. Boone had the ball with 20 seconds left in the game, but since the score was being kept by half, they didn't try to score. Boone won both halves against Scott by a lot. Boone played in Lexington Catholic's team camp yesterday, defeating Lexington Lafayette by 7, Lexington Catholic by 2 (although an error by the clock keeper showed a tie at the end of regulation, and Lex Cath hit a free frow in sudden death), and lost to Mason County by 14 (this game was a 4-5 point game until a few minutes to go). Boone plays in the NKU camp this weekend. They play Fairfield and Springsboro Friday and Oak Hills and Buckeye and a team from down in KY Saturday. Next week, Boone plays Ryle and Ludlow. The following weekend, they are in the state AAU tournament in a pool with Cordia, Boyle County, and Knox Central. I agree it is better to play teams you don't normally see in the preseason.
  21. Sounds like 2 good young teams. Boone had 2 freshman and a soph start varsity last year and 2 other frosh see varsity action, as well as a good set of sophs coming back. They will also have 4 seniors, 3 of which could see significant action. The JV team finished 2nd in NKY last year, with 3 freshmen starting/playing a lot of minutes. Boone's McFarland will be one of the top players in the 9th this season, and Earls will be one of the better big men. Popp/Gabbard are the top guards in the 2010 class in NKY class and should do well at the varsity level this year. Boone also has some young lights out three-point shooters coming up, such as Flannery.
  22. Boone finished 18-12 last year. They will be better this year and even better the two following years with their great frosh and solid soph classes moving up. How many does Gallatin have coming back? I know they lost Edmunson. IMHO, I did not think they have many strong J.V. players last year when I saw them play.
  23. Talking about #0 having 11 (not 24 as you stated earlier). Watts played and shot well.
  24. The Shining Stars gave the Patriots a good game. That team consists of players from Northern KY.
