  1. Hardly a comparison. 11 points is not bad but nothing to brag about. Allen Iverson scores lots of points, but how many championships has he won on his college and 2 pro teams so far? A 9th grader scoring 11 points in a losing effort is nothing like an NBA player scoring 50+ and losing.
  2. I was there and saw the official score book after the game. The next highest scorer to Watts in this game was #0, who had 11 points. The number of points an individual has is irrelevant when you lose by 29.
  3. How can you compare Euton and Watts? They play different positions. Chad Jackson is a guard like Watts.
  4. What's their total male enrollment? That often plays a significant factor. More boys to draw from in growing/large areas. I think lots of high school teams have players playing AAU in many places and times.
  5. I think Sam Brown (Sr.) will see a lot of time at forward. His brother Andrew (Jr.) will see time too. Also, Bogle (Sr.) will be used as a defensive stopper at guard. Spaulding (Jr.) will see some time in the guard rotation with Popp and Gabbard. I could see Boone running a 3 or 4 guard offense since they will be deep at that spot. Flannery (So.) will see time, especially as a three point shooter with Krohman. McFarland will need to rebound, though, because other than Earls and him, Boone will hurt for size.
  6. KY Patriots freshman AAU team are playing in the Pittsburgh Jamfest. They play Ft. Wayne SAC tonight a 10:00 p.m. and Boo Williams at 8:00 tomorrow in pool play.
  7. Patriots did not participate in this tournament. I saw on the Shining Stars web site that the 15U team lost by 4 to Butler County Tar Heels and lost by 20+ to Cincinnati AAU.
  8. It is where the sponsor is from. Tim Duncan's (Cleveland/Ohio Basketball Club) is sponsored by Adidas. In turn, he has sponsored the Patriots this year. There is currently one player from Ohio (Cleveland) on the roster, one from West Virginia, and the rest from Kentucky. This is more of a national traveling team now, no longer just a local or KY AAU team.
  9. Yes, it gives bigger, stronger bodies the advantage. Smaller guards can be fouled and bumped off the ball much more easily. Avery seems to be a good basketball player and a good kid.
  10. Flannery, Earls, Popp, Coleman, Avery Coleman had 17 in one game and was 5-7 from 3's. Earls played well, scoring about 8-12 points a game. He hurt his wrist a few games into the tournament diving after a loose ball. Awaiting x-ray results. Popp was also hurt early on, receiving a minor concussion from a blow to the eye. The play was very physical--6 fouls allowed per player per game, and no bonus until 10 team fouls.
  11. Congratulations to the OBC Adidas KY Patriots on winning the 32-team NCAA sanctioned Real Deal on the Hill Tournament 15U division in Arkansas this weekend. This was the first tournament of the season for the team. The Patriots have 5 boys from Northern Kentucky, 2 from Ashland, and 1 from Lousiville. Upcoming tournaments are Pittsburgh Jamfest and King James tournament in Akron.
  12. The grove because he would not get as many touches/shots because of the balance of better players. Plus, he would come out of the game earlier at Holmes when they built up large leads.
  13. Congratulations to him. I will say that it is easier to stand out at a small school team or on a weaker team than a larger school or better team with more overall talent and balance.
  14. Where are Hester and Jacobs going? Gtown and Thomas More? Is Crews going anywhere?
  15. Who does Holmes have coming in from Cincinnati. Didn't Nelson recently transfer? What about Ricardo? Anyone else?
  16. I think we will see another 9th region team or two go far in the Sweet Sixteen within the next 2-3 years. CCH- Grimes and Maile returning. Schover should start PG. Good JV class coming up. Should be good. Holmes- Good talent coming back. JV squad went to the NKY JV semifinals this year. Ryle- Good 2010 class coming up. Highlands- Simpson returning will be POY candidate, along with Henderson of Holmes. Good 2010 class coming up. Holy Cross- Giwa, Eifert, and Sorrell all 3 return so HC should be competitive. Agree. Boone Co- With good coaching and the right players playing, Boone should be better than their 18-12 record next year. Losing Bray will hurt some, but junior Krohman and sophomore Flannery are good 3 pt. shooters, sophomore Earls will be one of the more dominant big men, and junior McFarland will be one of the better players in the 9th. Boone also has a couple of the best point guards in the 2010 class. JV squad were NKY JV squad runners up to Simon Kenton this year. They will still be young, but won't be able to be taken lightly. I think CCH, Holmes, and Highlands will all have a shot. It will probably come down to Holmes and CCH for one more year. Boone or Holy Cross could sneak in there and surprise. Ryle is probably another year away.
  17. Please rank for each school in NKY. 1. Cov Cath
  18. At least she shows intensity during the game.
  19. But if you hear past and present players complaining about the coach and quitting, do you blame that on the parents too? How long of a chance should be given a coach? I know it was only his 3rd season at Boone, but he has been head coach for 10-15 years at 3 different schools and still has a career losing record. How long does it take to prove how well a person can coach? Boone has so much talent coming up, it can't help but contend in the next few years, regardless of coaching decisions, but good coaching in tough/close games will absolutely make the difference between regional championships and 18-12 adequate seasons with no titles and unfulfilled potential. Believe me, if I had the time and opportunity, I would. I also know of another good coach whom I believe would do at least as well, most likely better, and certainly no worse. If next year doesn't go well, I would expect there to be a change before Boone misses out on its upcoming opportunities.
  20. I can tell you that several parents this year, parents of seniors all the way down to parents of freshmen have not been happy. I know some players quit and chose not to come back this year because of the coach. Only those closest to the program really know their coaches. Hopefully, the team and coaches will improve next year. Boone is well positioned to take the next step. Everyone knows they have two very strong sophomore and freshman classes coming up. If it isn't next year, it will be the two years after. I don't see anything wrong with always expecting and striving for excellence and not being satisified with less.
  21. I agree, St. Henry took some questionable shots at the end. I don't believe Boone's coach has won district yet. I believe this was his 3rd season.
