IMO Boone needs to realize which players provide the productive\energetic spark, keep them on the court, and finish teams when they are ahead and not go into their method of not attacking the basket and letting teams back into the game once they get big leads. Other than that, not much to improve on compared to last year that visible yet.

This team will be led by Brown and Montgomery.

Should be interesting to see how some of the younger guys step up with the big senior class gone.

Didn't the JV team go undefeated last year?

Who are the projected starters this year?

Yes - JV went undefeated last year and won the JV tourney the past 2 years.

Starters most likely will be Montgomery,Brown, Crabtree, Downs and McQueary with Stanley starting at times. The have some big boys off the bench.

That is a pretty big lineup. Montgomery 6'5, Brown 6'3, Crabtree 6'8, McQueary 6'5 and Downs 5'10 ??.

Like always, it comes down to guard play and this is where Boone will be exploited imo. They have no varsity experience at guard and will miss Gabbard tremendously. They don't know how well they had it with Gabbard running the show the past three seasons. Big shoes to fill and while Downs and Stanley are capable, neither is in the Gabbard zip code. If I coach against Boone, I press, press, press.

That's not a very quick bunch.

Downs may have the toughest job in the 9th this year.

Maybe not a VERY quick bunch, but it is a big, strong and athletic line up.

No offense to the big boys but "athletic" doesn't describe them. Big, tough, good players. Not "athletic." They're not using those 3 to press.

I've learned that you have your own negative opinion on most of the Boone athletes, so I won't bother to dispute anything you say. But, if you think Brown, Montgomery, Downs, Stanley and a few others aren't athletic, then what is your "opinion" of athletic.

Some people are so sensitive. My reference was to the 3 big projected starters - not Montgomery or Downs or Stanley.

I like Boone's team and their coach unlike many of the Boone fans. I don't ever recall making any negative comments about Boone athletes. Since you have publicly accused me I challenge you to find any negative statements I've made .

P.S. Stating that someone is not "athletic" is not a negative statement. Larry Bird was not "athletic."

T. Brown not considered athletic to you....that's a joke in itself. I guess everyone has their own definition of what athletic is and it's all good, no hard feelings or sensitivity here.

IMO Downs came on strong last year when Boone had two seniors suddenly quit the team. I'm sure he has been working on his strength and basketball game since then and will be able to handle his own. He may not be a Mike Gabbard (that's why his name Cooper Downs), and if he just plays his game and can be himself, he'll be fine.
