Who are some of the best teams that may have been loaded but never could seem to get to Rupp Arena?

 

I'd like to know who was on that team and what happened.

In recent memory, the Covington Catholic '02 team is the 1st team that comes to my mind. Lewin, Bain, Finke, Hiltz & company. They were the top-ranked team in the 9th basically all season (Dixie was very good too, with the Bramlage brothers). CCH lost to Ryle in the region, who was led by Nick Faegan & Justin Doellman.

Holmes a few years ago lost to Dixie in region...Nobody should have been able compete with that team in NKY...Jefferson, Rice, Hill, Henderson...Braeon Avery backing up Jefferson, Terrance Clark banging and a young Pittman on the bench...I believe all this talent was still on that team at the same time, but chemistry and discipline led to Dixie beating them in the region

79 Holmes team was pretty good. Got taken out by Highlands in the regional finals.

You are right about HC losing to Scott after beating Holmes in the semi's, but HC wasn't the best team in the region that yr. Holmes was the best team all yr but they just played a bad game against HC in the regional tourny.
