I thought Conner was the supposed #1 team in the 9th Region? Just goes to show you the pollsters are usually wrong.

Conner did not show me anything. Guards not quick enough to penetrate or shoot Boone out of their zone. Brown thoroughly outplayed the Conner big men. Conner missed a lot of free throws. Brown has my vote for player of the year in the 9th so far. He was a beast again for which Conner had no answer. Boone looks to be the number 1 team in the 9th this year.

Conner didn't impress me when they played Cooper but I just figured they had an off night.

Did Conner play that poorly or did Boone Co shut em down?

First half score was 28 to 26 in favor of Boone. At this point it was a pretty good game. I am not sure what adjustments Conner made at half time, but they must have been all wrong. Boone sat back in a zone and allowed a disorganized Conner to self destruct offensively. Conner actually played pretty good defense in the third quarter holding Boone to only 6 points. The fourth quarter you could see the Conner heads drop and the drive left. This game was over at the start of the fourth. Trevan is a beast, but I give the credit for this win to Coach Mcqueery. He had a plan that worked and he stuck to it and flat out beat the Cougars. Conner is a much better team than the score reflects and they will bounce back. There is no doubt that Boone is the team to beat in the 9th.

Conner was shut out in the 3rd quarter.

They scored their first point on a FT with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

They varsity did not score a basket in the 2nd half.

Drew Barker scored Conner's first basket of the with less than 2 minutes left.

I didn't think either team looked very good. Boone's offense was only a little better than Conner's and that was really the result of one kid.

A team with good perimeter play will be a challenge for Boone. They do not match up well man-to-man and they will give up looks in the 1-3-1.

Dreadful game by both teams.

Conner only had one kid that could hit from the outside. #10 hit 2 or 3 three is the first half, but did not play until about a minute left in the fourth.

He was in earlier than that in the fourth. I remember one miss he had on the Boone side that barely touched the rim.

Conner's guard play was poor. Maybe it was just one really bad game.

I've seen better play out of them, but I agree it was pretty poor play. At this level, you need to be able to handle a zone defense.

A big game like that, you would hope a team would come to play. No excuses about poor play, Boone just outplayed Conner in the second half. Give credit where credit is due. Good job Rebels.

That's a low bar to hurdle for the Rebels.

Big picture is their offense needs work if they want to contend.

Boone is the team to beat right now in the 9th but there are several teams that will have a shot at winning the region. They do play a lot of zone (1-3-1) but their size will give most teams a lot of problems. They are well drilled in applying pressure with good position defense and getting a hand in the shooters face. If they get beat off the dribble, they have the size to challenge shots in the paint. They also do not allow a lot of second chance opportunities.

As ugly as the action on the floor was sadly it wasn't as ugly as the student sections .

Cheers heard tonight in a non-offensive summary:

A player on the floor was called a feminine hygiene product while shooting FTs by the entire student section.

One student section pointed at their crotches and instructed the other student section as to what they could do.

One girl came out to halfcourt during halftime to make fun of the girls from the other school. She carried a baby on her hip and had a pillow in her shirt to characterize the other school's girls as tramps.

One student section chanted that they had been successful in having sex.

Sadly, the administration/faculty from neither school acted. The only one to address one of the above was Sheriff Helmig.

Neither school came across well tonight. Great to have student support by each school needs to have an adult in front making sure that they do not cross the line as they did tonight.
