Boone County 54 Holy Cross 44

Featured Replies

Final.

I believe "this guy" predicted Boone by 10 in the prediction thread. :D

Boone Co. 54 Covington Holy Cross 44 \

Boone Co. 23 12 7 12 54

Holy Cross 9 11 16 8 44

Boone Co. (3-0) -- Stanley 5, Downs 8, Burgess 3, Montgomery 11, McQueary 7, Crabtree 10, Brown 10.

Covington Holy Cross (0-1) -- Allen 3, Broering 1, Avery 7, Beal 2, Walker 3, Arlinghaus 10, Knochelman 6, McClendon 12.

How did Christian McClendon look in his debut for Holy Cross?

Boone County is coming out of the chute firing on all cylinders. They seem to have a very balanced attack that should make them very tough to defend.

Did Burger play for Holy Cross? I didn't see his name in the box score.

Burger did not play. He, Fortner & Thompson sat out this game for playing in an unauthorized league game this summer.

Scary to think about how good this HC team is going to be next year and in two years when those three are older. Future looks bright for HC.

Boone and Dixie both have a really good starting 5 but both have a really , really short bench. They had better hope they do not get into foul trouble.

I said the same thing over the summer when talking about these two teams.

I think Boone has a little more depth though...McQueary just isn't using them. Not sure if he played or not, but Pitts needs to be out on the floor atleast 8-10 mins a game.

I would not necessarily jump to that conclusion 2 games into the season...there's a whole season to see how things shake out for both teams.

I agree. I was not at the game but I heard Pitts did not play at all. I heard he had almost a triple double in JV ( 21 points, 13 assists, and 6 rebounds) and sees no time at all on Varsity. He is averaging double digits as a point guard on JV. As I said before, I think the JV level is not competitive enough for him. His speed and quickness is a weapon and I don't know why it is not being utilized. I'm sure McQueary has his reasons though.

Sounds like JV is doing great for him. Valuable experience, build confidence and when they need him on varsity he should be ready. It doesn't sound like they have needed him on varsity yet.

What was the reason for Pitts leaving Holmes? He would've fit in very nicely in Booher's system and possibly been the starting Pg or atleast seeing 15+ minutes on a regular basis.

Who comes out, however? Downs? Boone has been using a one guard offense a lot. Montgomery, Brown, and McQuery are all also going to start and be in there a lot, and Crabtree gives them a lot more height at the 5. If he comes out, they lose a lot of their size advantage.

Not impressed with Boone County wonder what the score would have been if Holy Cross had all of their players?

Several reasons that I won't get into on here. He would have fit into Coach Booher's system better though because his quickness and court vision would have been an asset to that style of play. But, he is very happy at Boone and just loves that he has the opportunity to play basketball.
