  1. I might have to agrue against Mercer unless they find a passing game in the off season. I dont think throwing the ball 1-5 times a game will win you any state championships against 5A opponents.
  2. Yeah.... and Highlands and Cov Cath wouldnt?
  3. I think Bowling Green opens up at BG versus Boyle County but i could be wrong
  4. I think that Mercer plays Corbin in it next year with Danville playing George Rogers Clark. Im pretty sure about the Danville game, but not so much about the Mercer game besides the fact that Mercer plays in the BAC to open up next year Plus Lex Cath has their own bowl where Mercer played LCA this year
  5. How much of that was JC stepping it up and Ashland collasping as they had tended to do this year? I'd like to know cuz i wasnt at the game.
  6. i heard next years bowl is with Danville, GRC, Mercer and another school
  7. I have seen both teams play and the question is, is when Rock puts 9 in the box can JC throw it? I think they cant, Rock is 2 dimensional and can run it and throw it. I like Rock because they have played 3 tougher opponents then anyone on JC's schedule in Bell x2 and Lincoln. Also Rock has experience in these types of games. This should be mountain football at its finest. Rock 31 JC 24
  8. You say its not an excuse and then you use an excuse to say they arent as strong. I agree they are better than some seniors but it was evident that SW was attacking some of our players, ie one cornerback and the middle linebackers, who were both sophmores. Then you throw the ball to a freshman on 4th and 1 with your season on the line and he drops the ball. They sure are more talented but that doesnt mean they play with more heart and desire then others. As far as the system goes, is it really chuck smith's system anymore? Did the system leave with Chuck Smith 2 years ago? These are honest questions that i dont know the answer to so maybe someone else does because our "down" years have been the 2 years since Smith's departure. Is it just that the talent has been so low that even Smith couldnt have won with this team? All i know next year is that we will bounce back, we will do better, but we still need to congratulate the seniors for what they have contributed to the program.
  9. I think to beat Mercer you have to have a physical downhill running game, but you also have to be able to pass the ball. Mercer's defense is good enough to take away what you want to do if you are one dimensional. You have to play clock management and keep their offense on the sideline, and capitalize on turnovers. Its a hefty load to do all this, but bringing down Titans arent supposed to be easy unless there is a Tennessee in from of Titans. The gameplan IMO has to be alot like the Boyle Co. gameplans against superfast Paducah Tilghman and Hopkinsville teams. That being said, Newport wont be able to do all of this. Newport- 14 Mercer Co. 28
  10. i think the big factor this rematch will be Boyle's ability to control the clock. I feel that if they can win the time of possession they will win this game. SW has a great running game and they need to keep that on the sideline. If they can run it against a stellar defense then they can tire out the SW defenders. The same goes for SW against Boyle's defense. If Boyle's starters play 4 quarters BC- 24 SW- 21 If Boyle's starter play 2 quarters BC -7 SW-35 Go Rebels
  11. QB- Tim Couch QB- Brian Brohm RB- Michael Bush RB- Shaun Alexander WR- Jacob Tamme WR- Montrell Jones TE- Derek Smith K- Taylor Begley D- 99 Boyle County
  12. Marion will be riding in "high" after this season's close loss. Boyle's defense will be stellar and if special teams are as good as last time, i look for Marion to be flattened. But, if Boyle doesnt match and overcome Marion's intensity it will be alot closer. And if Boyle tries to dive it up the middle of Marion's defense like they did last game then it might be too close for comfort. I personally think Boyle will come out firing and take care of business. Im sure Boyle is wanting to make some serious noise in the playoffs, considering they will be underdogs the rest of the playoffs, if they can get past Marion. Boyle Co.- 35 Marion Co.- 7
  13. If he lost his quaterback job, then it must be a family trait because his dad is about to lose his coaching job at Eastern :creepy: :creepy:
  14. Danville is better all around. They have better skilled, better line, and two of the best coaches in the state in Sam Harp and Jerry Perry. Danville wins big.
  15. No way Boyle loses this game. The defense is too good, and the offense really doesnt matter for this game. Taylor lost to PC, and Boyle should roll easy. 56-0
  16. I remember the Boyle-Rockcastle state championships to be very hard hitting affairs. One hit by Boyle's LB was so late after the whistle but it was quite possibly one of the hardest hits ive seen on Rock's WR.
  17. I didnt say they would keep it within 2 touchdowns. Their best effort would.
  18. They need to keep Dunn but make sure that there is not a no-trade clause in his contract. The Reds need to keep him and then deal him to someone that is contending and need hitters at the trade deadline. There were plenty of teams that will want to add a 60 HR bat to their line up, especially a AL team that can stick him at his natural defensive position....the bench.
  19. Habits on the practice field usually find their way on the game field. From posts, these players play hard and with some heart, but maybe they are lacking focus or intensity in practice. If you arent focused then the little things arent being improved and corrected. They can be going full speed but not have a goal or purpose. That could be some causes of penalties and the lack of cohesion in the offense. Good luck Royals
  20. I have enjoyed central kentucky football this year. In past years their has been three possible contenders for state titles in Central Kentucky, (Danville, Boyle Co, Lex Cath) but this year has seen the emergence of Mercer as a legitimate threat combined with the rising of the Lincoln Co team. Add in Henry Clay in 4A, there seems to be alot of chances for teams to go far in the playoffs and have a real shot. I look for 2 out of the 4 titles to come in just the Danville Area, with Danville in 1A and Mercer in 2A. One last thought, in the Danville area i feel like all four of the top teams in this area would have played each other very very tough. Couldnt say that in forever.
  21. Athletically they seem to be very similar, but Frankfort does take plays off. Danville seems to be mentally tougher at this point in the season, combined with acouple weeks of easy action to rest starter, and injuries, i look for the Ads to roll. Frankfort will need an ultimate effort to win this, but most likely will keep it within 2 touchdowns. Danville- 45 Frankfort-21
  22. Hesley runs the veer option and it needs poor defenses to work against. Problem is that Lexington football has gotten better, and those inept teams are no where to be found. For his philosophy, he wants to spread the defense wide and dive it, but people arent respecting the pass, Dunbar might as well get in one power formation and actually get good at it Si es verdad
  23. Lafayette will get rolled and that is because Henry Clay is just really good this year. Plus district title is on the line so it should be pretty heated. Henry Clay-52 Lafayette-35
  24. You are right it also applies to field goals i believe, when i played way back when the umpire would always yell stay off the snapper, he gets special protection just like punters, kickers, QBs after the throw, to protect their safety in vulnerable positions.
  25. LOL! Would everyone be as mad if a parent brought a megaphone or a bull-horn and yelled pass or run or QB or whatever?
