  1. Sweet Potato Fries or Cottage Cheese
  2. Im in the same boat. I have 3 20 page term papers this semester. One is a senior thesis, one is a honors thesis, and one is just a term paper. Im going to be spending my life in the library
  3. Let's not get personal. I just would like to see the comparisons of other coaches. Lincoln Co. is not a premier job in my opinion and not a premier program. French brought them back to respectability, and they need someone to take them over the top and i feel Buchanon is the best man for that.
  4. I dont mean to bad-mouth coaches, but each year i expect to see an article in the advocate messenger stating his release. I cant imagine that he would be considered especially with the quality of names being thrown around. If Lincoln could get David Buchanon, he would continue the progress made by French without a doubt.
  5. Why would Stonebreaker be a good hire? He took Casey and gave them a cupcake schedule, they won like 1 district game and he got them into the playoffs. Since then what has he done at Garrard?
  6. I usually tend to stay away from the public/private debate, but i was bored and i decided to read some threads. My stance seems to be not widely held by public school supporters. I went to Boyle County and like Highlands, we take great pride in our state championships and accomplishments. I feel that i take more pride knowing the fact that we beat anyone and everyone that had a claim to our class (whether it be AA or AAA) championship. That included many private schools including, Lexington Catholic and Covington Catholic. I would feel slighted if the only reason we won was because a private of comparable size was in another division. We didnt whine and complain about LCHS or CCHS's perceived advantages, because on the football field none of that mattered. If the KHSAA decided that we were of comparable size to X or T, then there would have been nothing but just lacing up the cleets (i know this doesnt matter but our freshman teams have been fairing well against the big 2s). Coach Smith believed that hard work and dedication could change anything, and i believe that also. X and T are like the Yankees and Red Soxs of baseball, sure their advantages make them the target of everyone's hatred, but instead of kicking them out, it should just force the publics in 6A to improve their programs. Honestly, IMO their isnt an outstanding program in 6A throughout the state (besides X, T, and Male) and maybe thats the reason why the Louisville privates have their way? Then again, im relatively young and i will be the first to admit i dont understand all the issues, but i thought that i might as well throw my opinion out there.
  7. Who? Where is he from and where did he win championships at? The name drew a total blank in my mind.
  8. Correct me if im wrong but i remember some very good linemen on those teams that protected the hefty lefty. Smith i think went to Tennessee, and i thought like two went to Purdue? Honestly i think that team would rank as one of the all-time best teams in KY football history
  9. I think he was mentioning the middle school and rec-league teams. I know the middle school team did not have a good year at all, but then again i hear complaints all the time from Lincoln fans that they dont have real coaches on the middle school team.
  10. Boyle and Danville made football a top priority and the administration put their money where their mouth was. Its encouraging to see all the improvements made at Lincoln and Mercer in the past years. Washington Co. and Marion Co. i believe are also making similar strides with the quality of coaching in those schools. Honestly i think that Garrard has to get better quality of coaching, whether that means bringing in a new staff or just more assistants i dont know. Garrard was most successful when they had great coaches in Jerry Perry (now DC and probably head coach in waiting at Danville), Jeff Hester (DC at Boyle), and others along with Tim Rogers (ex-LB coach at Boyle, Union College, and now at Carson Newman i believe). They also need to revamp their offensive scheme, because the triple option is old and outdated.
  11. I heard the same thing. I think he is happy with his DC job at Boyle and will not be looking elsewhere. Too bad though for Lincoln, Hester is a great coach.
  12. Awesome pickup for Boyle. I couldnt have thought of another more qualified coach than French
  13. Morris endorsed Washington County's coach. He said that he would be the perfect man for the job and there was even an article in the Advocate about it. Apparently, Washington County's coach was a Graduate Assistant at Baylor with Morris and played at UK. Thats the only word ive heard.
  14. Boyle has ran a 4-4 for years now. Its actually incredibly versatile because they can give 3-4, 3-5, 4-3, 4-5 looks out of it. It depends on how the offense lines up. Those defenses were excellent during the championship runs.
  15. Im sure thats just one more hassle Coach Harp doesnt have the deal with. You dont build that caliber of a program by pouting over a lost player.
  16. I think this situation mirrors another coaching hire. Back when Guy Morris left UK for Baylor, UK went after Bill Parcells, who was the sexy hire at the time. Yet, he was unproven at the college level and maybe never truley wanted to go to UK. They then regrouped and went out and hired a proven coach that knows how to rebuild programs in Brooks. Boyle went after the sexy hire this time in Guy. Even though he wanted too much money, and was unproven at the high school level. Hopefully Boyle's search turns out as good as UK's did
  17. Boyle needs to go outside the staff, there are tons of up and coming coaches who would jump on the chance to coach at Boyle. Only one assistant at Boyle is capable of taking over the program and he doesnt want the job. I believe that the Morris saga breathed new life into the program, believe it or not. Thats all anybody talked about for a week straight. Now the administration can go out and hire somebody. I know the people on the search committee are all excellent people and have the kids at heart.
  18. 1. Lincoln County has to be the most pleasant surprise after they graduated both Miller and Calhoun, which accounted for about 75% of their offense last year. 2. Biggest Disappointment has to be Mercer Co. The defending 2A state champs dont even make the playoffs in 5A. 3. Best Coaching job has to go to Paul Rains at LCA. Nobody would have predicted their excellent season. 4. Best game has to be Henry Clay- Boyle Co. Boyle made a huge 4th quarter comeback to take the lead with less than 3 minutes to go. Then Henry Clay marches down the field and makes the perfect throw to Boyd in the end zone. 5. Best offense has to be Henry Clay. Phillipe was a good thrower and Boyd is a special athlete. They had so much team speed and talented skill players. 6. Best Defense would be Lexington Catholic. They were incredibly tough this year and definitely showed they were leagues above any team in 4A. 7. Best special teams is Lafayette. They had an excellent kicker that made many big kicks in the season. 8. Best player is difficult i would go with Shane Israel the RB from LC 9. Best team is Lexington Catholic. Only State Champ in Central KY. 10. Hum??? That neither Boyle or Danville were in the 3rd round of the playoffs since like 1996 or something
  19. Coach Thomas is an excellent coach. He coached with Chuck Smith for awhile on his staff, so if thats any consideration, he must be a disciplinarian like Coach Smith. Excellent hire.
  20. One game doesnt really say much about a teams ability. Lone Oak had 14 great games and 1 game where they didnt match up well. I remember in 03 when Highlands lost to Boyle 44-10 in the Finals while in the regular season they only lost by 1 to Boyle. And, i dont agree with the Rockcastle statements. They always had to go through Northern Kentucky and Bell County to get to the finals.
  21. I know Boyle has had some down years, but i still think Jeff Hester deserves to be mentioned. He was head coach at Garrard Co. and is now the Defensive Coordinator at Boyle
  22. The Boyle v Henry Clay was pretty impressive. Amazing comeback in the 4th quarter for Boyle, just for Henry Clay to throw a perfect pass to Boyd to win the game
