Boyle Co. 14 Marion Co. 6

This is a final: A defensive battle won by Boyle Co.

Nice job Boyle. Keep rolling.

This game was really ugly but a W.

8 point win over a team that lost to Bullitt Central???? I know its a win, but it still has to leave you scratching your head a little.

Marion seems to have a little better team then most would expect. They played SW pretty good too if I remember correctly.

They sure did!! They are a much improved team over the last couple of years. They will play you tough everytime you line up. Good win for Boyle Co.

Go rebs! First off let me say congrats to the Defense that put up a goose egg, the only points coming on punt return late late in the game. Second off I made the 30 minute trip to Marion County tonight, and I must say I was very very disappointed in the showing by the so called BC Faithful. There might have been 200 fans there TOPS! And that would be a stretch, and boy, we definitely were not loud. Realize this is not the 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, or even 04 team. They are not going to beat every opponent 50-0. They need fan support to help them through, and they need to be picked up and cheered on even if they win 14-6. It was a very solid win tonight, and yes Marion County has gotten a ton better and they are a good football team. They can slip up on anyone the next few weeks. I thought MC played a very tough physical ballgame and gave all their heart, and the MC fans were very loud and vocal. That is good! Our fans, for whatever reason, Higher expectations, personal agendas, skewed vision? Were not vocal at all! I was thoroughly disappointed in the BC Faithful. The defense shut out the Marion County Offense and I didn’t hear a lot of cheers every time they came off the field, or after BC’s Punt team did the unthinkable in high school football, pinning MC inside their own 5 at least four times, maybe 5-6. Most DI college teams don’t do that in a season, let alone one game! Get on your feet and cheer these kids on. Whether you don’t like the situation, the coaches, the kids that are making or not making the plays, when the TEAM does something to cheer about, stand up and make some noise. I am Truly Disappointed in what I thought was a very Faithful, Loyal community following of a good group of kids! If you want these Rebels to make it deep into the playoffs, which I believe they can make it at least into the State Semi’s, They need all your support, not half, but all! Come out and support these boys and let them know you are behind them. A win is a win, is a win!

I agree with you that this team isnt as good as those state championship teams were. But since coach Pardue has been there he hasnt been running the offense like he was during that span in which they were putting up 45+ points a game. I believe that if he were still calling the plays, as well as being head coach then they could put up those points and wouldnt have any problems winning several of the close games this year and last year......but im guessing it was his decision to hire Coach Davis back for a second tenure.

Anybody know why the cheerleaders took the game off? That may have been part of the reason it was so quiet.

From what I heard in the stands, some of the cheerleaders were on vacation and couldn't make the game. I will be quite on what I think about that becaues what I heard might not be the true reason they weren't there.

I will agree with DaddyPete "a little"...it was a semi-ugly win but a win is a win and we'll take one of those anytime.

Marion County has a solid football team. They put a team on that field that any school would be proud to have. I think they are a well coached group of kids and no one should question how good they are by the score of last nights game.

Now on to RebelK's take on this game.

Our defense rocked tonight. This defense is as solid as solid can be. Our defensive line is as good as I've seen all year long.

Offense

No quarterback could ask for any more time to throw the ball than this line gives this QB. I will leave my thoughts there.

It wouldn't take a very smart coach, on the other team, to figure out that at least 2 or the 4 calls from BC is going to be a certain kid right up the middle. Now before I say anything else on this subject, let me say that Stevens is a fine football player. He plays with as much heart as anyone could ask of a kid. He never stops running until he is covered up with half of the other team. He will run anywhere he is asked to run and he is so much fun to watch. Now that being said, it doesn't take a coach, from the other team, too awfully long to figure out what he is going to tell his defense to do - target the middle. Perhaps we need to come up with a few more plays for this offense.

Special Team

We decided last night that we would love to give Ben Carter the MVP of this game. What punts!!!!! If I counted correctly, and perhaps I didn't, this kid laid down 3 to 4 punts right inside the 5 yard line. I believe that most of them were on the 1 yd line. :ylsuper:

Fans

Oh what can you say about the fans? I'm not sure what poster it was that said there were about 200 fans there, but he was just being kind. It's kinda like watching rats jump off a sinking ship. Now if these kids put together a run this late in the season, the jumpers will all crowd back in there and yack their heads off about how great this team is. I really don't call those people fans. A true fan is someone who is there whether they are winning or losing and loves these kids no matter what!!! Cheering????? What are you talking about - I think some people think it's against the law to jump up and scream. I think it's kinda funny to stand there and scream and yell your heads off and just have plain old fun and watch the faces on the people who wouldn't stand up if their life depended on it. They will turn around and give you such a look, such as to say, "please be quite and sit down, you are disturbing me". Well I've never been known to be quite and I sure won't start now.

Sorry that I went on so long but obviously I just now got warmed up from last nights game and my mouth thawed out:D I am as proud of this team as I can possibly be. They have gone throught a lot this year. No home games for the first month of the season. Problems inside the locker room, that hopefully is worked out now. Rats jumping off the sinking ship. But they have to know that the faithful will be there for them and we will be as proud of you this year as the years when this team brought home the rings.:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa

Great post RebelK, I agree 100%, shane on the fans who quit on the team.:thumb:

I think Boyle is still diving it up the middle.... any district win is a good win despite how it was achieved. The play calling needs help, it reminds me of "the Waterboy" when they are using plays from "A Complete Idiots guide to Football" and the opposing coach is reading the book on the opposite sidelines. He dives it up the middle all first half and then the second half he comes out a runs a TE reverse three times in one drive, and never goes back to it. 3rd and 16 and we run a WR screen, that about sums it up.

Marion has a decent team and they will likely play again in the first round of the playoffs so maybe we wanted to show them nothing offensively. Boyle's defense was outstanding tonight and they fly around the ball. Hester has got that unit motivated, Marion was 1 for 16 passing with 2 INTs. Also Boyle was penalized for 100 more yards than Marion, that had alot to do with the offense because if you dive it 3 plays in a row you cant have mental mistakes and negative yardage. Boyle will get them at Boyle in the playoffs, so i think more fans will show up, plus "fair weather fans" applies here literally because it was cold.

Could someone please explain the penalty that Boyle received when they called roughing the center, when Marion was punting the ball. Has this always been a rule or is this something new that I've never heard of?

To the best of my knowledge when the offense is punting the center usually has his head down in h.s. football therefore, there is a rule that keeps his/her safety in mind and it is where you are not allowed to touch the center until the ball has been punted I believe. I could be a little off in some of the info but that is the jist of it.
