To the best of my knowledge when the offense is punting the center usually has his head down in h.s. football therefore, there is a rule that keeps his/her safety in mind and it is where you are not allowed to touch the center until the ball has been punted I believe. I could be a little off in some of the info but that is the jist of it.

You are right it also applies to field goals i believe, when i played way back when the umpire would always yell stay off the snapper, he gets special protection just like punters, kickers, QBs after the throw, to protect their safety in vulnerable positions.

I suppose I have just never seen it called enough or if I had, I wasn't aware of what the call was. I totally agree with the call. The center is in a vulnerable position and should be protected, as is the punter. Now for the QB. I have a hard time understanding why the QB isn't part of the play and should take his knocks just like anyone else. I'm not talking about any illegal hits, that's totally uncalled for, but sometimes I think roughing the passer is called way too much. I also suppose if I had a QB out there on the field, I would totally disagree with me and you have every right to.

From what I heard in the stands, some of the cheerleaders were on vacation and couldn't make the game. I will be quite on what I think about that becaues what I heard might not be the true reason they weren't there.

I will agree with DaddyPete "a little"...it was a semi-ugly win but a win is a win and we'll take one of those anytime.

Marion County has a solid football team. They put a team on that field that any school would be proud to have. I think they are a well coached group of kids and no one should question how good they are by the score of last nights game.

Now on to RebelK's take on this game.

Our defense rocked tonight. This defense is as solid as solid can be. Our defensive line is as good as I've seen all year long.

Special Team

We decided last night that we would love to give Ben Carter the MVP of this game. What punts!!!!! If I counted correctly, and perhaps I didn't, this kid laid down 3 to 4 punts right inside the 5 yard line. I believe that most of them were on the 1 yd line[/color].

I couldn't agree with you more RebelK but I wish you agree with me in total that anytime the refs put the hanky on the ground 14 times, that makes it ugly. What more can anybody say about the special teams and the defence other than OUTSTANDING. You probally notice I left out some of your quote like the offence. I stated way back that I wished coach Pardue haad been calling the offence, and I'm still trying not to say too much other than that. As far as the fans go. A lot of us are very spoiled and I will agree that is not very fair to this team but that is just the way it goes. When everything is going well there is a full bandwagon, but when the road gets bumpy it seems a lot of us will fall off and not try to get back on until the road smoothes out. Fair? No, but is the way it goes. Just keep on keeping on with what you do and keep on loving those that don't want back on until the road gets a little better, because it most definately will and then we will just have to make room for them. Love you lady. Go Rebs. ;)

Great job Rebels....the score reminds me of some wins in the 90`s when the DEFENSE would dominate the game.:thumb:

Oh we always have room for more. There are some of us who wouldn't leave those stands even if we were getting the fire beat out of us but then that's just us old rebel fans:D

I know that being a head coach, in any program, has to be a headache but I can't figure out why Pardue doesn't call the offensive calls himself. He, and maybe I'm bias, has such a brilliant talent for calling the offense, as we all saw when he was coaching under Smith.

Anyone can say whatever they want about this team, and they have;) but one thing they can't say is that these kids don't give it their all. Just watching them come out on that field and start their warm-ups is a true joy. Some of these kids are young but there is so much talent there that will just be so much fun to watch in the next few years!!!

I think our seniors have stepped up and are being true leaders. Knowing that this is their last year hurts my heart. I would have wished a better season, but in life we don't always get what we want, and perhaps this is a lesson that will guide them through out the rest of their lives. And who knows what will happen in the coming games. I will have to say this - no matter whether we lost to you or if we beat you - you got a game out of some pretty terrific kids who have all shown us all that their love for this game is more important than the questioning of us fans. And for that I say to each of them - thanks for teaching ME that lesson.:thumb:
