  1. AllUsedUp, RebelRev and Coach B, Great statements. Things at BC are going to be fine if everyone will allow the coaches to coach. This Boyle team could go 4-6 and still win state. BE PATIENT. I do not think this will be the case (4-6), but show some faith in the players and the coaches. 3 years ago Chris Pardue was the only man for the job, and definitely the only one that would step in and take over such a dynasty. Coach Smith was a great coach and no one will ever doubt that. Chris Pardue is as well. And ever since he has taken over; the Boyle "Faithful" as they think of themselves; have criticized and complained. These kids are surrounded by great coaches, with great character, that want nothing but the best for the kids. To my knowledge all coaches on the Boyle staff either have state championship rings as coaches or players. So do you really think they are in it for their self? Come on. Being close to several of the coaches, I can tell you that these men put in more time than 99% of coaches in the state of KY, and all they have heard for the last 3 years is complaints. They have big shoulders, and they can take it. But when student athletes get on BGP and read posts, like almost all do at some point, do you not think that all of these negative comments effect them as well? Do us all a favor and try to stay positive with your comments, concerns, etc. By being negative you are only contributing to the Boyle program in one way, and it sure isn't positive. Good luck Rebs tonight against a solid Henry Clay team. Stay the course and overcome all obstacles.
  2. You are right hitstick, we don't know for sure. But, I am a former player, and I know in my four years as a Rebel, noone was ever mistreated and if a coach was even rough with a player in what they said, they hugged them on the way up to the lockerroom and made us know they cared about us. This is a great group of men and I have the utmost respect and admiration for them! And parents can get on here and badmouth them, but what you have to realize is it may be there "Lil Johnny" that just isn't as good as that younger player. Definetely makes for a skewed vision of who is or isn't being treated fairly!
  3. RebelK, What we must realize is that there were no kids in any grade "mistreated" or looked down upon. This years seniors at the beginning of the year thought that just putting on the black and gold made the team winners, and that was definitely proven otherwise. Once they figured out how to go back to work the hard way after the Southwestern game, they were a better football team. That is what this year’s group has to figure out. Black and Gold doesn’t make you a winner, the work and preparation that they do in the off-season, and in the summer makes the Black and Gold Winners. Lets face it, there was not as much talent in the upper-class (Junior's and Senior's) as there has been the past 6 or 7 years. There are several contributing factors; such as -several really good players from that group didn't stick it out and play four years. There are several walking the halls that if they had bought in to the system and played, could've helped this year's seniors compete for a championship. However, there are several that couldn't stick it out for four years. That is something that the graduating Rebs should be proud of. It isn't easy and they made it. With that being said, the overall talent level of the Freshman and Sophomore group was better (they just didn't have the size in the end). That is just a fact. That is why BC started 7 sophomores and a freshman. By the end of the year, some of the upperclassmen stood up and showed the young guys how to win. If our schedule had been reversed, BC would've easily been 8-2 or 9-1 going into the playoffs. It just took a while for them to figure out how to win the close ones. Coaches make the decisions that are best for the TEAM. I have never met a coach that didn’t try to put the best 11 players on the field for whatever reason, and if the ones on the field don’t get it done, then you simply replace them. That is coaching in any sport at any level. These men that are coaching our youngsters are proven winners. Let’s get behind them and our kids and take State. I will never bash a coach at any level. All parents, think they know what is best when our kids are on the field, but the bottom line is, the coaches are in that position for a reason, and we are not! With that being said, there doesn’t need to be anymore Old Talk about last season. The Rebels have a challenging schedule in front of them and those sophomores and freshman grew up a lot this year. So if this years Seniors and Juniors to be can lead them, I see absolutely no reason why the Rebels won’t be a contender at THE BIG SHOW in Louisville. All of the fans need to get behind them this year. I think there we had a lot of fans that jumped ship and were way too quick to criticize coaches and/or players. The bottom line is we don’t know what goes on up there everyday with kids and how they practice/lead/etc. I’m through with my rambling, but lets look forward to the future of BOYLE COUNTY FOOTBALL! Good luck in 07 Rebs!
  4. I for one am wishing Mercer County good luck. I think that everything about the merge that happened in Mercer County was crooked and dirty, but that all goes to the higher ups (Superintendant and School board). How do you merge teams, but not schools, that is a joke. But, I think the coaching staff and the players/fans deserve a congratulations on doing what was expected of them. I know that anything less than a state championship appearance would've been a dissappointment, and that is a shame, but that is the way it is around this area. Mercer, you did it, congratulations and good luck on the carpet. The boys and the coaches deserve all the glory, they did what was expected of them and never looked back. Way to pull it together. Good luck Friday!
  5. Three real quick points: 1 They were stronger than our Sophomores and Freshman was not an excuse, it was a fact, and it showed Friday night. 2 The ball that was thrown to a freshman on the 4th and 1 play, was the same Freshman that had already caught around 4 or 5 passes, broken tackles and made some plays. And he also had an Interception inside our red zone where SWP was driving about to score, so I'd say he was as capable as anyone of making a play. This kid can play! And gives as much heart as anyone on the field. 3. The front got physically whipped as well. PSW dominated us up front on Defense and b/c they did that our LB's weren't able to make plays either. Overall, PSW has a very physical team and they just whipped us. Congrats to them and good luck next week, they have the Senior Leadership that it takes. Thanks to our seniors for battling back and for the past four years. Younger Rebs, get in the weight room and don't get beat by a more physical team again. That is in your control, attack the weightroom and work to be as good as you want. You control your destiny! We are expecting Big Things from you all!
  6. I think that you are correct about two things. Boyle got their hats handed to them I agree. And yes, we will all be in different classes next year. Coach Smith put an excellent system in place, and Coach Pardue uses that same system. What you forget is that there were 7 Sophomores and a freshman on that Starting Defense tonight, that is not an excuse at all. A decision was made for the Boyle County Program, that they were as good if not better than some of the upperclassmen, and so they played, and played pretty well I might add. Competing, and Should have beat, 2 possible state champion teams (Danville, Mercer). The thing that stuck out to me tonight, was a Senior dominated SWP team that was physically stronger than our 15 and 16 year olds. But we still played hard. The bad news, our Youth that played all year this year, are no longer Freshman and Sophomores. Playing in the atmospheres they did this year, and the type games-they have very valuable experience that made them grow up a little quicker. The 10th, 9th, 8th grade group could make noise for YEARS to come. This is in no way a knock at SWP, they handled their business and I wish them luck with Central. Just making a point that the dynasty isn't over, just on hold. And for those that think otherwise, watch out the next few years. Get back to work REBS.
  7. Congratulations to a very deserving SWP team. You all physically whipped up on us tonight! Outstanding effort by Smart, Gibson and QB. They stepped up huge for their team tonight. Jumper dad, referring to an earlier post, there is no end in titletown, maybe on hold last year and this year, but I think you will eat crow next year. Great programs don't fall b/c of a bad year or two, the system works, period! Talent levels will be back next year in full effect. The Rebels make a bigtime run in 07 in 4A. MARK MY WORDS!
  8. Evidently that is what they do, and evidently it worked. Reeling off 5 straight wins. Way to stick to your guns! These boys figured out that they must put out or get out. They have looked like a different team since the 1st meeting with Pulaski SW. I think it will be a shootout down at the Warrior nation. This is for the District Title and a shot at the Regional Championship. Good luck rebs!!!
  9. Southwestern wins this one handily. 42-21. They will roll to the second round of the playoffs where it will be a battle with my beloved Rebs!
  10. It should be a sloppy game according to the weather channel? Good luck Rebels and start tuning up for the playoffs! Get your minds right and start looking at the big picture. We've taken some hits early in the season, but everyone is back and you have to believe in what you are trying to accomplish! I'll be cheering from the stands Fri. night!
  11. Boyle County dropped a close and hard fought Freshman game to Lex Catholic tonight 27-23. BC had a great chance to win this ballgame late in the game but didn't. BC won the first matchup between the two, and split on the season in Freshman games. Is this a sign of great games to come in the near future *the next few years* with district play alligning the two head to head? I want to say thanks to the LexCath fans and coaches for being so hospitable and generous in welcoming The Rebs up to their stadium on a last minute deal. Hope we see you the next few years in some more nailbiters! As the Rebels go Rolling Along!
  12. Go rebs! First off let me say congrats to the Defense that put up a goose egg, the only points coming on punt return late late in the game. Second off I made the 30 minute trip to Marion County tonight, and I must say I was very very disappointed in the showing by the so called BC Faithful. There might have been 200 fans there TOPS! And that would be a stretch, and boy, we definitely were not loud. Realize this is not the 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, or even 04 team. They are not going to beat every opponent 50-0. They need fan support to help them through, and they need to be picked up and cheered on even if they win 14-6. It was a very solid win tonight, and yes Marion County has gotten a ton better and they are a good football team. They can slip up on anyone the next few weeks. I thought MC played a very tough physical ballgame and gave all their heart, and the MC fans were very loud and vocal. That is good! Our fans, for whatever reason, Higher expectations, personal agendas, skewed vision? Were not vocal at all! I was thoroughly disappointed in the BC Faithful. The defense shut out the Marion County Offense and I didn’t hear a lot of cheers every time they came off the field, or after BC’s Punt team did the unthinkable in high school football, pinning MC inside their own 5 at least four times, maybe 5-6. Most DI college teams don’t do that in a season, let alone one game! Get on your feet and cheer these kids on. Whether you don’t like the situation, the coaches, the kids that are making or not making the plays, when the TEAM does something to cheer about, stand up and make some noise. I am Truly Disappointed in what I thought was a very Faithful, Loyal community following of a good group of kids! If you want these Rebels to make it deep into the playoffs, which I believe they can make it at least into the State Semi’s, They need all your support, not half, but all! Come out and support these boys and let them know you are behind them. A win is a win, is a win!
  13. Pulaski had just called a timeout when Boyle was going to Punt the football, if they don't call a timeout Boyle more than likely doesn't run the fake. Any football team, at any level coming out of a timeout for a special team not expecting a fake or a hard count deserves to either be scored on or jump offsides IMO. The difference. Three weeks ago, Boyle ran the same play and the runner was tackle by a safety/returner, this week, the player ran over three players determinded to get in the endzone. Coincedence it was the same play, I think not. I think the upperclassmen realized it might mean a little more to them than just to go out and play. They played with a purpose this week. Players(that should be leaders) made PLAYs instead of just being on the field b/c they were upperclassmen, and that is what makes a difference. Good job coaches sticking to your guns and getting everyone on board. Great job to the O-line which dominated and the Defense, it doesn't matter who you are playing a goose egg is still a goose egg! And that is something to be very proud of! Good luck rebs with Marion County this week. And hit stick you are right, I'm sure they were trying to get to 45 and shorten the game for the young bucks.
  14. Just making a point that they were 2-2 in the last week, didn't mean to make excuses. But yes, they were 2-2, and I think the JV plays the X today and tomorrow.
  15. ONCE again someone commenting on something they don't know that much about. The JV team that Boyle is playing is a freshman team, with four "starters out due to injury/sickness," and practically all of the sophomores play varsity. Lex Cath was a soph. junior dominated team. (20 some soph., 10-12 juniors). The middle school had four to five kids that are "starters" sitting due to breaking team rules. Learn what is going on before trying to make statements that aren't entirely correct. And the 7th grade team beat Bate on Tuesday, and the freshman team beat Rockcastle on Saturday. I believe that puts them at 2-2. Get the facts straight please. And the varsity rolls tonight against Pulaski County. Go Rebs!
