Hogtown Pride
Just how good is this defensive team?
midee1
All I can say for sure is the fact that no one has put up over 19 points on them. Sounds like a solid defense to me.
coldweatherfan
They are fast, strong, and athletic. They have had 3 shutouts and have allowed a total of 128 points in 14 games. Of that 128, only 48 points have been scored on the varsity defense. I don't know the exact stats. But if memory serves correctly. There were 5 games this year that the opposing team had fewer than 20 rushing yards when the varsity D left the game, and in 2 of those games they were in negative rushing yards. They have 27 interceptions and have 3 defensive touchdowns. They're very good.

That would go down in the record books. :thumb:

True blue (and gold)
Actually the record is 34 by OCath last year. Check out the records at http://www.khsaa.org/football I never said that it would be the record - just that it would go in the record books. I, too, got my information from KHSAA. They require a minimum of 27 interceptions on the season to be included in the record book.

J/K, sorry Titan fans couldn't resist, I am sure you guys are tired of hearing that crap as am I. Good luck on Friday Mercer Co. :thumb:
JumperPride
Well they are good right now in 2A. It will be good to see how good that defense is next year.
Hogtown Pride
Well they are good right now in 2A. It will be good to see how good that defense is next year. That defense will be losing 8 starters. The other starters are 1 junior and 2 sophomores. The defense will have big shoes to fill next year. mexitucky
I know that you can only play in the classification you are put into, but Mercer Co's numbers seem somewhat hollow to me. What they have done this year is like having Beechwood and CovCath or NewCath and Highlands combine and then keeping them in AAA. Of course you are going to wax your opponents. They are doing great for the position they are in, it just doesn't impress me as much as it would have had Harrodsburg or Mercer Co. done this on their own.
