Boyle Co. 2007

Featured Replies

Here is the schedule:

Week One- Bowling Green @WKU

Week Two- Henry Clay

Week Three- Danville

Week Four- Lafayette

Week Five- Lexington Catholic

Week Six- Bye

Week Seven- Mercer Co.

Week Eight- West Jessamine

Week Nine- East Jessamine

Week Ten- Pulaski Southwestern

Week Eleven- Dunbar

Should be a very challenging schedule for the Rebels. The young rebs from last year should be battle tested. Can Coach Pardue get the rebels back in the hunt?

Seems like a great schedule that Pardue put together. If they survive in one piece, they should have the big game experience needed for the playoffs

It's great to see Southwestern and Boyle Co. continue playing each other. Going to be fun seeing The Rebels and Warriors hook up!!!!

That's a great schedule and a hard one. Should be a challenge for Boyle to see if they can rebound next year. A lot has been made about this season and finishing 6-6 but there were some games against good competition that could have turned on one play and given Boyle a better record. Both Danville and Lafayette were contests that could have just as easily been Boyle victories. I'm anxious to see if the issues of this past year will be resolved from top to bottom or will it be ignored and blame just passed along.

I truly hope that some lessons were learned this past year of how to treat kids. If the lessons weren't learned, then I don't see next year being any better than last year was.

Without trying to bring old "talk" back, I just want to say that I was so proud of all the seniors. They showed me, and I hope a lot of other people, what they are truly made of. They took an unpleasant situation and, as a complete "senior" unit, they stayed together and showed what they were made of. They are great kids!!! They worked as hard as anyone could have ever asked kids to work. They played the game to the best of their abilities and they made "most" of us very proud.

So who is Boyle returning? Who are the leaders going to be? What are the prospects for next year on offense and defense? I know that the defense started a lot of underclassmen that will return but then again they did get shredded in their last outing last year. Underclassmen or not they will need to get better with this schedule next year.

Someone in the know share with us.

RebelK,

What we must realize is that there were no kids in any grade "mistreated" or looked down upon. This years seniors at the beginning of the year thought that just putting on the black and gold made the team winners, and that was definitely proven otherwise. Once they figured out how to go back to work the hard way after the Southwestern game, they were a better football team. That is what this year’s group has to figure out. Black and Gold doesn’t make you a winner, the work and preparation that they do in the off-season, and in the summer makes the Black and Gold Winners.

Lets face it, there was not as much talent in the upper-class (Junior's and Senior's) as there has been the past 6 or 7 years. There are several contributing factors; such as -several really good players from that group didn't stick it out and play four years. There are several walking the halls that if they had bought in to the system and played, could've helped this year's seniors compete for a championship. However, there are several that couldn't stick it out for four years. That is something that the graduating Rebs should be proud of. It isn't easy and they made it. With that being said, the overall talent level of the Freshman and Sophomore group was better (they just didn't have the size in the end). That is just a fact. That is why BC started 7 sophomores and a freshman. By the end of the year, some of the upperclassmen stood up and showed the young guys how to win. If our schedule had been reversed, BC would've easily been 8-2 or 9-1 going into the playoffs. It just took a while for them to figure out how to win the close ones.

Coaches make the decisions that are best for the TEAM. I have never met a coach that didn’t try to put the best 11 players on the field for whatever reason, and if the ones on the field don’t get it done, then you simply replace them. That is coaching in any sport at any level. These men that are coaching our youngsters are proven winners. Let’s get behind them and our kids and take State. I will never bash a coach at any level. All parents, think they know what is best when our kids are on the field, but the bottom line is, the coaches are in that position for a reason, and we are not!

With that being said, there doesn’t need to be anymore Old Talk about last season. The Rebels have a challenging schedule in front of them and those sophomores and freshman grew up a lot this year. So if this years Seniors and Juniors to be can lead them, I see absolutely no reason why the Rebels won’t be a contender at THE BIG SHOW in Louisville. All of the fans need to get behind them this year. I think there we had a lot of fans that jumped ship and were way too quick to criticize coaches and/or players. The bottom line is we don’t know what goes on up there everyday with kids and how they practice/lead/etc. I’m through with my rambling, but lets look forward to the future of BOYLE COUNTY FOOTBALL! Good luck in 07 Rebs!

Someone in the know share with us.

On offense they return Bryce Perry at QB, but i wouldnt be surprised if Philip Mason makes a push for the job, or Connor Givhan.

The leading rusher, Cole Stevens, returns as a senior, and the backup last year returns as well

The WRs, the leading reciever Josh Miller left, but they return the next two, Reese MacShara (Sophmore) and Jacob Enlow (Senior) Both TEs are gone, so that is definetely a glaring hole to be filled.

The O-Line returns one tackle, one guard, and its center, so their is a returning core.

Overall, the Rebels look to have alot back on offense. The O-line has to be able to overcome the graduation of Hilton and Waters, because at times they were the only ones playing good. They were definetely the leaders on the O-line, so somebody is going to have to step up. The running game was bad last year, but the passing game should be pretty good this year with returning QB and WRs. The only thing i will say on coaches is that the play calling has got to get better. I will pay money to see Pardue make the calls again. We did win 5 with him at the helm of the offense........

Defense

DL, Both DEs return as juniors in Cameron Finchum (sp?) and Jordan Walker. They will need to be stronger this year, at times they were blown off the ball acouple yards down the field. The DTs both graduated, so it looks to be another glaring problem. The strength of Boyle's D has always been the front 4 whipping the front 5. The DL's responsibility is to hold up blockers and clog up holes for the LBs to fill.

LB, The LBs mostly return with Ben Sloane leading them. Sloane stepped it up big time last year as an undersized sophmore. The only loss is Josh Miller, and the other returners are Coffey and Crutchfield.

DBs, the CBs both return with Jacob Enlow and Ryan Marshall. Marshall got burnt acouple time in the Southwest game so he should be hungry in the offseason. Enlow is the only senior as of now on the Defensive side of the ball, so he has to be a leader this year. He played good last year, and they also return Bardin who started the beginning of the season. The FS is Jordan Aumiller, who should be a good player with great size and speed.

Overall the Defense should be pretty good next year. They return alot and the only glaring hole should be the DTs. They should be ready to make a run come playoffs with Jeff Hester coordinating them.

The team itself has the parts. (I think last years did too) They just need people to start stepping it up. Thanks last years' seniors they toughed it out. But, the sophmores last year are now juniors and upperclassmen, they cant use any excuses now. Its only whether or not you get the job done.

It should be a good rebound season, the 6-6 record should leave a bad taste in their mouths the entire offseason. This team looks alot like the 2003 state champs. They have a small senior group, with alot of junior contributors. Let's see if they have the heart.

Good luck Rebs

How do you know that anyone wasnt mistreated or that the seniors werent discriminated against? like you said later in your post you arent there everyday, you dont see everything. Im just pointing out your flawed logic, not taking any sides. Just playing the Devil's Advocate

I will pay money to see Pardue make the calls again. We did win 5 with him at the helm of the offense........

First of all, thanks for the info. :thumb:

Secondly, what you said above is what I've been hearing from a lot of people and hope it is solved next year.

You are right hitstick, we don't know for sure. But, I am a former player, and I know in my four years as a Rebel, noone was ever mistreated and if a coach was even rough with a player in what they said, they hugged them on the way up to the lockerroom and made us know they cared about us. This is a great group of men and I have the utmost respect and admiration for them! And parents can get on here and badmouth them, but what you have to realize is it may be there "Lil Johnny" that just isn't as good as that younger player. Definetely makes for a skewed vision of who is or isn't being treated fairly!

True. But the same vision can be skewed towards the other direction as well. :thumb:

BTW, I'm a former player too. Just different decade.

Way, different decade. :D

Boyle County's schedule is tough! It looks like Coach Pardue has no backdown in him.....

or, did he inherit this schedule from Coach Smith? Those first five games will make Boyle County tough for later in the year if they can get through them and stay healthy. I wouldn't expect a lot of wins out of those first five, but that is just my guess.

Former player here also. :thumb:

I just wished that the Lex Cath game was more towards the end of the season. Week 5 and 7 will be circled on my calendar.

Boyle should be battle tested come playoff time with this schedule. It is awesome to see LexCath and Boyle play again. They have played some of the best games I have ever seen.
