  1. 9. They're tied all time with Montgomery: Clark (1975, 81, 82, 88, 89, 90, 91, 95, 2010) Montgomery (1996, 97, 98, 99, 2005, 06, 07, 08, 09)
  2. It's a $5 minimum donation, and there are items both for a silent auction and a live auction (added just today because of the amount of items that have been donated, it starts at 5:15). All of the proceeds go to help a Mason County student and his medical bills. They are also having t-shirt sales for him and each school in the district prepared a fight song to see who will "supports" him the most. The official time it's over is "?". If there is still anyone that is worried about getting food or the high school concession stand, you can come to the MCHS cafeteria tonight, have chili for $5, and support an awesome cause.
  3. We can go back and forth on this all day. I never said that your post was ridiculous, but the assumption that Coach Butcher (or any coach, for that matter) really wants an opposing player to be/get injured is. And that is why the quote is taken out of context. We can agree to disagree, but you were not there for the interview, and the fact is that he said, aside from the player getting hurt outside, that there was very little chance to stop her from what she wanted to do on the court. And sorry for the confusion. Whether it was Mary Jehlik, Sydney Moss, DeAsia Beal, Kaylyn Emmons, Anne Klee, Hannah Haight, etc., etc, etc. -- any of the great players Mason played against this season -- it was not said before "more than one game," and there was no malice behind it. Next thing you're going to tell me, it was blasphemous to say that it would take "prayers, prayers and more prayers" to stop Lauren Tibbs before their regional tournament game.
  4. Huckleberry Inn is a sweet idea. And I'm not sure that this has been brought up or not, but it's not as if Mason County and Mason County only decided on their own to make ticket prices what they are. These prices are determined by ALL of the 10th region AD's and principals. It's as if the majority of BGP'ers just lump this in with whatever else is wrong with the region being held at the Fieldhouse. If you feel like this is a problem, take it up with your school as well, they had a say in it.
  5. This is ridiculous and taken out of context. When asked (by me) how to stop Mary Jehlik of Montgomery County, Coach Butcher answered that since she didn't turn her ankle on the ice outside ... and then proceeded to explain how the Lady Royals would try to defend against her. He was not serious and to say that he was is pretty insulting to him. There is a big difference between attacking a coach's gameplans, scouting, game results, etc., and saying that he legitimately wanted a player to get hurt. I'm pretty sure that if anyone in the MC administration believed Coach Butcher was serious, this wouldn't have been the first time this quote (again, taken out of context) would've been mentioned on BGP.
  6. You also have to be nominated, by your own coach, to be voted on. In the past, this has resulted in some very deserving players get left out.
  7. Danny Weddle has a blog that highlights the 50th season of Mason County basketball. On this post, he talks about how the Fieldhouse came about.
  8. If it's confusing at all: First round games are $7 per night. Two games, one $7 cost on Thursday, and on Friday. Saturday Semis are $5 per session, clear the gyms in between. Championship is $5.
  9. Curious ... Fields said that the last time the boys didn't make region was '86. When's the last time neither the LexCath boys OR girls didn't make the region tourney?
  10. Too many to name. A lot of boys with equal talent will not be named. Just throwing names out that hadn't been said. Of course I will forget some. Sorry about Mullins.
  11. Like Fawns and those others from above, Burtner wouldn't be this century either...
  12. I COMPLETELY agree with the starting five from above. Some other names to consider for this team: Justin Seiter, Bishop Brossart Kevin Reinhardt, Campbell County Jordan Owens, St. Patrick Akeem Scott, Montgomery County Jess Poe, St. Patrick Wes Jones, Mason County Jordan Massey, Deming Travis Massey, Deming Mikah Turner, Mason County Tristen Jones, Clark County Trevor Setty, Mason County Shooty Staggs, Augusta Brandon Rash, Montgomery County A handful of current players that if they're not already on the list, will be eventually in my opinion (besides the obvious Stenzels, Zollos, Settys, etc.): The King twins from Deming Stephen Mason, St. Patrick Kyle Campbell, Nicholas County
  13. McKayla has been starting about game 3 of the season, and deservedly so.
  14. Danny has a blog to highlight this special season. Visit http://www.royals50thseason.blogspot.com/ to check it out.
  15. Allana Ahrens was out, and Felicia Mains was also not participating in warmups. I'll agree with Haight being out for stretches hurt Bracken, but foul trouble was definitely not limited to one team Monday. For nearly all of the third quarter, four of the five Mason County starters had three or four fouls. Keller Menke was playing with four reserves for that stretch. In all, there were 46 fouls called, and 7 Lady Royals and 4 Lady Bears had at least three.
  16. Not to nitpick, but he had 4 touchdowns and 6 is the school record, held by Grutza and Thompson. Colt's first sneak was a fumble into the end zone that was recovered by offensive lineman Austin Berry.
  17. Scratch the previous post. When it would get to the semis, it would be the numbers of regions, not districts. Mason is in Region 4, so if either #1 seed from the above bracket (Somerset clinched, and Breathitt as of now) faces off against them, it would be at that venue.
