I sincerely apologize. I read over your post too quickly, and saw the bolded part about the award winner. For those who don't know, Trevor Setty won a similar award on Saturday.

I respect your opinion. Who's your top five?

I surely hope you're not talking about Trevor Setty, for two reasons. One, this is the reason countless threads on the subject have already gotten closed. And two, because you can't pigeonhole a kid for one moment. He is a great kid, and a very good teammate. He leapt off the bench on the hardest foul I've seen while covering sports. Ethan King literally bounced after hitting the ground because he had a kid draped around his neck while at the highest point of his leap towards the basket. For reference, I have never bashed your players, and I just wanted to defend one of mine. It was a lack of better judgment, and he wasn't leaving the bench to fight. If this is not who you're talking about, consider this whole post moot.

Lady Royals win their first two with some timely hitting and good defense, not to mention starting pitcher Karissa Greenhill's line through two games (14 IP, 11 H, 2 R, 0 earned runs, 17 K's). In the first game on Monday, Lacey Cline's two-out triple broke a 1-1 tie. In Tuesday's second matchup, Cline was 3-for-3, and it took back-to-back RBI singles from Chelsie Porter and Kristian Bellamy to pull Mason ahead. Two good wins, keep it up! I agree with this, with only one exception: change that above-bolded word to "reloading." To me, this is still a top 10th region contender next year!!!

It CAN happen, there is a period in which you can turn in your vote as a coach, and it lasts before and after state. It's up to each coach.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a coaches' vote. Reporters vote on AP Player of the Year.

I'm not going to continue arguing on this topic. My opinion (OPINION) is that I would take Setty, then Middleton, then Ferguson. And keep your "learn the ins and outs" comments to yourself. Either that, or back up your opinions with something other than an insult!

Good post. Another player I like is Westin Stahl, he seems to score in bunches when he comes in late this season. He could be a good scoring threat off the bench next season, IMO. Though if everyone's back from this year, they'll have 5 seniors (Middleton, Downing, Hamm, Rice, Stahl).

First off, the person I'm arguing with said Ferguson was the best player on the floor, which of course will include Miller. That's ludicrous. I stated before that Ferguson would be Mason's fourth or fifth option. I still fully believe that. I'd choose Miller first, Setty second, and Middleton third. Let's compare shooting stats of Mason's "other two" players with Ferguson. Setty 188-407 FG (46.2%) 73-204 3pt (35.8%) 507 pt (14.9 ppg) Middleton 184-377 FG (48.8%) 60-165 3pt (36.4%) 512 pt (15.1 ppg) Ferguson 253-550 FG (46.0%) 94-244 3pt (38.5%) 723 pt (24.9 ppg) If Setty and/or Middleton were the focal point of the Mason County offense like Ferguson is for Elliott, and therefore took as many shots a game as Ferguson did, their stats would be even more close to equal. Ferguson probably could edge out Ethan King for fourth, there's no way to know how much that Mason would have to rely on him to score if it weren't for the other three. They've had to do that with Middleton and/or Setty in the past if Miller was off on a given night or in foul trouble. I would pick a 6-7 Setty AND a 6-3 1/2 Middleton over Ferguson every day of the week and twice on Sundays (especially if the region final is that day ). Just my opinion, no loyalty involved.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the bolded. I just figured you'd have a lot of uproar in here about Setty being rated over Ferguson. Like I said, I agree that he should be.
