  1. I think, combining your BBI handle with your Reds avatar, we've come up with the perfect nickname for the team of the 2000's: The Big BLUE Machine!! :thumb:
  2. I think there's a definite pecking order here, but that doesn't make Middleton any less easier to replace. You're talking about a four-year starter, who as a freshman, was the starting point guard of a state tournament team. He, and Downing, will be two difficult starters to replace. I don't want to put words into BBI's mouth, but I see his point too.
  3. Well, I'll give you this. Hatton is solid as a rock. Igneous, metamorphic, whatever else, to be literal. I don't know much about his off-court demeanor, but watching him play, he seems like the salt of the earth. :thumb:
  4. For selfish reasons, I hope he stays at Mason for as long as possible!:thumb:
  5. Also, I neglected to mention, besides the losses the Royals suffered from graduaton, what a way to overcome the adversity of the loss to start the year, the lady passing out at Scott County, the three free throws against Clark the first time around, and the way-laying by Elliott in Sandy Hook. Also, the adversity caused by injuries that saw four of their five starters miss games this year. Just a focused team that finally pulled it together tonight in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Congrats again!
  6. Hey, thanks for the shout-out PR! Yours is one I will actually give some credence to. I'm not here to gloat, since as most of you have said, preseason predictions mean nothing. Then again, those are probably the same people who blasted me for it in the first place, but I'm not in the business of saying "told you so." I will, however, say congratulations to the Royals. When everyone said Miller, Setty, King and Tolle were too much to replace, this team proved different. The young players stepped up as we hoped and thought they would, and as it turned out, adding assistant coach Kelly Carwile to an already talented support staff turned out to be one of the better "transfers" of the year. It's not often you see an assistant call out a play even before it's run by the opposing team, and I can tell you that Brossart, Montgomery and Clark saw it happen countless times over the last four days. It's been a great ride, and I hope it's far from over. And hey, you can say homecourt advantage this, traveling times that ... and I'd reply -- to quote something I believe I've seen on here before -- the best team won tonight!!
  7. Didn't have a computer statistician that I was aware of, but here's the individual scoring from last night's broadcast: MC (25-3) Webb 14, Jehlik 13, Garland 12, Lee 10, Prewitt 7, Thompson 3, Colliver 3 BC (13-10) Haight 11, C.Ahrens 7, Ware 5, Burden 4, Rogers 4, A.Ahrens 2, Mains 2, Jones 2 MC 17 23 14 10-64 BC 7 11 18 9-37
  8. I have a question, and don't read anymore into this than what it is. (It may not even be for this thread, but I thought Goldy or someone could provide an opinion). If this same Ballard team, and Mason County as well loses to Elliott by double digits, what sort of game would Clark County give the Lions? Then again, we may see this at Rupp! Anyway, for all accounts, a great game was to be seen in Louisville last night!
  9. Danny Weddle was on the high school report show on WLAP last night (well, it's on like 26 stations, but there's where I tuned in). He said those two were a combined 6-for-32 from the field.
  10. Just listened to Mo and Buttels on 1530 Homer. Awesome, just awesome. Mo came back from the break and had another entire segment on how greedy BOKC is to do this.
  11. Check out Danny's blog, MCpapa. Our worry now is that should Bracken/Augusta make it, we're right on the cusp of covering those games (they may be affected by this radius). Now, instead of covering the entire tournament like WFTM has for years (as have WMST and WCYN), we would only be able to broadcast Mason County and St. Patrick for sure. And obviously it shuts out any possibility of 37th district "home station" coverage, as well as any internet coverage whatsoever. So while having the no-broadcast ban lifted is a start, this still doesn't solve being able to have anyone outside of our listening area hear these games. I don't want to speak out of school, but I don't believe the 10th region radio conglomerate is yet anywhere near pleased.
  12. We were told back at a previous game broadcasted from the BOKC earlier this year that there were "5 or 6 outgoing lines," not to mention cell and wireless capabilities. At that event, they were very hospitable as well. It seems to me they have the availability and access for everyone that wants to broadcast, but have, for whatever reason, decided to allow none of it. I for one am very interested to see how today's meetings turn out. I imagine that a lot of people (some of which may not even be involved) had their inboxes and voice mailboxes flooded this morning. If there is such a thing, looks the trickle-up effect may be going on as we speak!
  13. Oh, and like BBI said, Keller Menke had 18 rebounds for Mason County. Karli Beasley had 11 boards for North Adams.
  14. Don't know why the other one closed? MC FG 42% 3 PT FG 30% FT 56% REB 36 TO 19 NA FG 40.4% 3 PT FG 16.7% FT 69% REB 41 TO 13 MC (3-11) K.Menke 23, Queen 10, Smith 9, Moore 6, Butler 4, B.Menke 4, Moran 3 NA (7-2) Beasley 28, McFarland 17, DeBord 7, Davis 6, Shupert 4, Sparks 3, Copas 2 MC 18 10 17 14-59 NA 21 16 15 15-67 JV: Mason County 31, North Adams 30 MC Allen 8, Morris 7, Gibbs 5, Cropper 5, Likins 4, Weddle 2 NA Pertuset 14, C.Wigginton 9, Downs 7

  17. After 13 games, Menke is at 17.2 per. The problem is, finding a consistent second and even third scorer. But their defensive intensity is, IMO, the best MC has had in years.
  18. Needless to say, I'm still as confused as I was on the air. But here's what I know. Pool A Bishop Brossart (3-0) - 1st St. Patrick (2-1) - 2nd Bracken County (1-2) - 3rd Russell (0-3) - 4th Pool B Lewis County (3-0) - 1st Augusta (1-2) Fleming County (1-2) Harrison County (1-2) Tomorrow's schedule 3:00 7th place game -- Russell vs. ?? 4:45 5th place game -- Bracken County vs. ?? 6:30 3rd place game -- St. Patrick vs. ?? 8:15 1st place game -- Bishop Brossart vs. Lewis County Unfortunately, Augusta beat Fleming, who beat Harrison, who beat Augusta. I heard that the tiebreaker involves quarters, but whether that's quarters won or quarters score, I do not know. Hopefully someone can take this ball and run with it, and clear things up.
  19. http://www.kentucky.com/802/story/639539.html Just a question ... since this is buried so deep on the Herald-Leader website and isn't listed at all on the new!! Kentuckysports.com, who's responsible for picking this? I'm no expert on high school football statewide, but I have a hard time believing that there are 22 seniors better this past year than Mason County running back Jeremy Thompson (1603 yards, 32 total touchdowns). Any thoughts?
  20. They play their first game Saturday at noon, and yes, Danny's on his way there as we speak. From there, it depends on wins and losses obviously, but here's a link to the schedule: http://www.sport-travel.com/DaytonaBeach/2008%20SunshineClassicDraw.doc
