It is way too early to tell how good either Mason or Clark is going to be in 2009-2010. Each team has major components to replace in their starting five. Can Mason find consistent replacements for the defensive skill and length of Middleton and Downing? Can Clark find scoring and ball handling replacements for Hatton and Williams? AAU and off season training will enable some of the younger kids to grow and develop for both squads. I think if Setty and Zollo continue to get stronger, then both of these teams will be evenly balanced over the next two years. Should be a lot of fun to watch for both fan bases. The 10th Region could possible have another State Champion out of either of these squads.

I think the thing to worry about if your Mason Co. is you had a really big team this year. And next year Mason will be big up front. But who will step in at guards for Downing and Middleton? Mason will get much smaller with, I am guessing, Gilbert and someone else. Thats just an outsiders opinion. What is Mason's guard situation looking like next year?

Setty - stud

Pawsat - stud

Barner - athlete

Gilbert - solid

Lang? They also have a frosh who is very good but he's more inside than out.

Middleton will be tough to replace, but so was Lofton, and Darius, etc...... They will be very good again.

I would think comparing Middleton with Lofton and Miller, now that is funny!

Middleton was a good player but I agree not in the same class as D and C LO.

I think there's a definite pecking order here, but that doesn't make Middleton any less easier to replace. You're talking about a four-year starter, who as a freshman, was the starting point guard of a state tournament team. He, and Downing, will be two difficult starters to replace. I don't want to put words into BBI's mouth, but I see his point too.

I thought Middleton was the hub of the wheel for the Mason Co team this year. His ability to score and to dish made everyone else on the team better. I think he was a very good high school ball player and will be missed. I'm not comparing him to anyone who has played there before but I know he was an important part of this years team.
