Just a question ... since this is buried so deep on the Herald-Leader website and isn't listed at all on the new!! Kentuckysports.com, who's responsible for picking this? I'm no expert on high school football statewide, but I have a hard time believing that there are 22 seniors better this past year than Mason County running back Jeremy Thompson (1603 yards, 32 total touchdowns). Any thoughts?

Rees MacShara, over 1700 yards rushing and 32 total td's for Boyle County, was left off of the team, but no worries, he'll be the class of the commonwealth next year.

Who EXACTLY would you take off the team to put him on? From what I understand Mike Fields pretty much pick it himself.

I believe it is an honor for seniors only...

A BIG CONGRATS to TONY GUIDUGLI, of the 5A State Champs Highlands, for FINALLY getting some of the props he deserves. TG came through big time for the Birds in the big games when it counted!!

Senior only team.

For what it is worth, Mike Fields of the Lexington Herald-Leader does an outstanding job covering high school sports. Although I haven't always agree with his choices, you can bet he has worked hard on being very fair in selecting this team.

That makes sense then if it is senior only. I have no beefs with the picks then.

Congrats to Neico Teipel of Beechwood! He played half the season on one foot and still rushed for over 2,400 yards, played both ways as much as his injury allowed and was Beechwood's punter (1st team punter in N. Ky. Enquirer).

I'm dissapointed that Monte Merrick wasn't picked, but all the guys on the list were deserving.

I agree, but everyone in the list was well deserving.

I'll have to disagree with you on this. Guidugli has been widely recognized as either the best or 2nd best QB in NKY all season. I don't see how he hasn't been getting props. #7, the LB, now he has a gripe. He seemed to be over looked all season, and from what I saw, he was very good.

Labor has been overlooked all season which is a shame because this kid played hard all year long and had the game of his life during the State Championship!!!:fire::irked:

I completely agree with you on this!
