I'd say this is pretty well accurate. McPapa, can we get an updated 10th region review/preview, to go with the one from before?

I wish this was a KHSAA requirement, if not just for radio and/or newspaper preparation prior to games, moreso that the kids can get some publicity. When I worked with the Ledger, we tried (and Matt, who is still there, is STILL trying), to get weekly stat leaders. It's been hit or miss. It's a coverage area of 13 high schools in 7 counties, and rarely do even half of the coaches/stat people submit them. It was, and I think still is, a neat idea for the Ledger to do. I just wish they could get more of a weekly commitment. I understand that people are busy in-season, but it's just a matter of sending a fax or e-mail once a week. Sorry I'm soapboxing again. I just think this is great for the kids, and back to the original point, yes I think it should be a requirement.

First off, welcome to the site, rook. Second off, let's talk about your statement I bolded above. To quote my good friend Billy, "Whoa, whoa, whoa Miss Lippy." You're talking about an interim/acting head coach that has taken over and motivated his team to five straight wins. Maybe this "yelling" you speak of (whjch, by the way, I didn't notice being anywhere near out of hand) is just that: motivation. It seems to be working so far. I don't think anything Coach Kelsch did last night that takes away from his or his team's achievement, and that's defeating a team that was 2-0 against them in the regular season, and earning a berth in the regional tournament. I would think if you polled the Lady Bears themselves, they'd say the same thing. To me, a good coach does yell at his players ... of course, within reason. If things aren't going the way they're supposed to be, this is one of the fundamental parts of a timeout. Plus, Coach Kelsch has been an assistant there for five years, and I think he may know more than any poster on here what his players need to get them going. Back to the point: congratulations to the Lady Bears on a big win, and the Lady Saints for a great season. And good luck to Coach Kelsch and Bracken County tomorrow night in the championship.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, De'Sarae Chambers does not get enough credit state-wide. It may take a Sweet 16 appearance to get her on that scale, and unfortunately, this is her last chance to do it. I don't doubt Mr. Demling's credibility, I'd bet he has more statewide knowledge in his pinkie than I do in my whole body. It just doesn't seem right to me that De'Sarae is listed dead last on the "others close" part of his list. Even if it's not in any particular order, still being outside of the Top 10 is a travesty to me. Oh, and agreed.

Great game from my end, probably the best (most competitive) I've called yet. I don't have my sheets in front of me, but I believe that there were 21 lead changes and 7 ties. I was impressed by Anne Klee tonight for St. Pat, and I thought Hannah Haight had a great all-around game for Bracken. See everyone at the Igloo tomorrow!

She went there (maybe still goes?), but didn't play sports. His older brother Jordan played basketball at Georgetown, his next older brother Josh played baseball at UK.

Great post. And what D-1 coach wouldn't want a 6-7 shooter, let alone one that has the genes of his dad, who is a solid and bulky guy? Trevor could end up being a very tall AND thick kid.

Plus, I think we're missing the point here, people. It's not necessarily about whether Trevor is a D-1 talent (I think he is, but that's beside the point). If he wants to stick with his friend, walk-on at a top-flight program, and possibly get some playing time on top of all that, why not let him? Besides, walking on at UK is still only speculation. He could still choose one of the schools that have been quoted as showing interest in him, which include (but aren't limited to): Georgetown College, Northern Kentucky, Shawnee State, Cedarville, Eastern Kentucky, Air Force, VMI and Wright State.

What is all this "piece of the pie" stuff? I've seen this commented on more than once. If you're talking local businesses and things of that nature, then OK. But as far as schools in the region go, everyone gets a share when it's held at the Fieldhouse. Not even just the 8 that go to region, everyone, all 17 teams, because that's how much they can clear with it being the best-attended region tournament statewide. I'm not sure how many people realize that.

If Mason comes out like they did against Elliott, they'll win by more than 10. And yes, before anyone retorts, I realize Station is better than Elliott. I'm just saying that if the Royals play a four-quarter game like the one Saturday against the Lions, no one will touch them the rest of the season. That being said, I'm not sure they can replicate that performance against a better defensive team. I'm going to say final score Mason 72, Station 59.
