Updating stats

Featured Replies

I realize that it is optional for coaches to update stats or even submit them to the KHSAA. However as a fan, would you or would you not like to see this as required? It gives some light to the fans of each sport and it gets the names out to some who may even deserve it IMO. What do you think?

It would sure help us radio guys as well, wouldn't it?

It is like pulling teeth sometimes. I heard, as I am sure you have, that giving out too much infor may/can draw attention to some injustices from parents. It is not like it is a big secret. Some coaches just consider it inside information that they would really rather not share.

I wish this was a KHSAA requirement, if not just for radio and/or newspaper preparation prior to games, moreso that the kids can get some publicity.

When I worked with the Ledger, we tried (and Matt, who is still there, is STILL trying), to get weekly stat leaders. It's been hit or miss. It's a coverage area of 13 high schools in 7 counties, and rarely do even half of the coaches/stat people submit them.

It was, and I think still is, a neat idea for the Ledger to do. I just wish they could get more of a weekly commitment. I understand that people are busy in-season, but it's just a matter of sending a fax or e-mail once a week.

Sorry I'm soapboxing again. I just think this is great for the kids, and back to the original point, yes I think it should be a requirement.

Well you see what limited luck you are, and or Matt, is having. I would like to think that any coach that has a few players that are doing as well or better than the ones that are listed on the KHSAA site would want to put the kid(s) name out there if nothing more than spot light to some degree the hard work put in.
