The timing of this is terrible, IMO...coinciding with Miller and Setty's senior years, should Mason make it to the finals. I would hate to think that prospective coaches, scouts, etc., would be among those turned away.

His list is actually six -- UK, Uof L, Ill., Mia., Tex., Tenn. He has decided to concentrate only on basketball this season.

There are a TON of talented players coming back on the girls' side in the 10th region for next season (as opposed to the boys, who lose an inordinate amount of talented graduated seniors). In the interest of fairness, I'm doing these alphabetically: Shelbi Benzinger (Scott), Hollee Bretz (Nicholas), Kiki Brown (Scott), Erin Carmack (Deming), De'Sarae Chambers (Mason), Lacey Cline (Mason), Charley Hatfield (Harrison), Emily Hinkson (Paris), Nakita Jones (Paris), Laura Kendall (Harrison), Natalie Kelsch (Pendleton), Katie Kitchen (Campbell), Mackenzie Lee (Montgomery), Kasey Litzinger (Mason), Ivy Livengood (Bourbon), Whitney Montgomery (Clark), Molly Norton (Bourbon), Maggie Prewitt (Montgomery), Jewel Rogers (Clark), Lauren Tibbs (Scott), Lindsey Watson (Brossart), Chelsie Weber (St. Pat) and Lauren Whiteman (Augusta). And I'm not saying that's all, either. Hard to pick a top 10 from that list!

Hicks wasn't nominated, therefore he couldn't get any votes. Don't shoot the messenger -- when I went in to vote, I pulled down the coaches box to select Hicks, and he wasn't there. Ridiculous, in my opinion.

Agreed ... I went up this weekend, and as an innocent third party (i.e. no teams to root for, no teams to cover), the Bulldog Bash to me is ran as professionally as any other fastpitch tournament I've been to. Kudos to both Coach Hughes as well as his to under-credited assistant, Andy Petridis, for the weekend. Holmes parents also play a huge role in the entire process too.

^ Agreed, Coach Ormes is one of the classiest coaches I've had the pleasure to deal with since I started my job here. Win or lose, it didn't matter, Coach Ormes always was there after the game, ready to answer questions in a positive manner. He always gave credit to his players as well as to the other team, if it was a one-point win, 20-point win, or 20-point loss. I can truly say I too was shocked to hear this today. One of my cohorts here, Chuck, had point-blank asked Coach Ormes if he was retiring after this past season (an annual rumor for at least the last two seasons, as the Lady Saints had graduated multiple seniors each year), and, straight from the horse's mouth, it was a firm no! Coach was excited about the future of Lady Saints basketball, and was looking forward to finishing out a few more classes. In my "fact-based" job, I can't ever feel free enough to express my opinion, but I'll say it on here without hesitation -- this was not, in any way, the right way to do this to Coach Ormes. I felt terrible having to call him tonight (and for that matter, Lex Turner also), given the situation. Good luck in whatever you choose to do Coach! Allen is obviously, 100 percent, without question, the only possible answer for this thread. Scouts say she could start for OU now. It's unfortunate that another good NKY pitcher, Amanda Jump of Holmes, is overshadowed by Allen (unfortunate for Jump, that is). Latest stats have Jump at 5-1 with a 0.70 ERA, and 72 K's in 40 innings.
