GRC vs Agusta Region 10

Featured Replies

I have not seen Augusta play this year. Dose anyone have a roster? What are your thoughts on this game? I plan on giving updates on Thursday night at 8:30

# Name Ht. Position Year

11 Stephen Cummins 5-9 Guard 12

13 Matt Groves 6-2 Forward 12

31 Jeremy Hardymon 6-2 Guard 12

33 Josh White 5-11 Guard 12

24 Joey Crouch 5-9 Guard 11

3 Brayde Hamilton 6-1 Forward 11

25 Shooty Staggs 6-2 Forward 11

2 Jo Jo Gray 6-0 Forward 10

44 Justin Hargett 5-11 Forward 10

15 Ryan Kelsch 6-0 Guard 10

52 Ty Krebs 6-1 Forward 10

35 Chris Mofford 6-5 Center 10

21 Shawn White 5-10 Guard 10

45 Hunter Kiskaden 5-11 Forward 9

Groves, Hardymon, Josh White, Staggs and Shawn White start. Cummins, Hamilton and Mofford are the first off the bench.

This one may get ugly real early. While it may not be politically correct to say so, Augusta simply does not have the horses to play with the powerhouses in the 10th this year. The score of the Mason County game last week was 90-36; with the Royals' starters playing 15 minutes or less and the entire third string seeing significant action. The Royals have been criticized for the final score, but Augusta didn't do themselves any favors by missing 16 free throws during the game.

My prediction - Clark County plays lots of folks in order to rest up for the next game, and still wins something like 80-44.

Wow - three responses at exactly 4:47. Kind of like The Perfect Storm.

This is a pretty accurate statment, If you only go by what Augusta showed against Mason Co. They will play tough you have to belive that. If they protect the ball and go strong to the basket they can keep this closer then many think. They also need to take the open shots outside. I not saying they will pull a major upset but I dont see them playing poorly in this one.

I for one did not criticize Mason for the final score in the District game. You are right Augusta did little to help their cause in that game. Lets go A-Town Seniors and show why you belong in the Regions.

A good post from a Panther fan. Augusta played hard; just didn't help their own cause where they had the best opportunity to do so (at the free-throw line).

Maybe they will be a litttle less shell-shocked in this one; I certainly look for them to play hard all the way through - Coach Kelsch will have them prepared for sure, but Clark is a VERY physical and athletic team; with plenty of help on the bench.

Clark Co. 84-47.

I don't know if Clark will beat them as badly as the Royals did, but wouldn't surprise me if the game is over by halftime or sooner.

Augusta has had a nice year and these kids get to play two top ranked state teams back to back. A lot to ask of anyone, let alone a team that is a notch below them right now.

This will not be a pretty outcome! Augusta will play w/a lot of heart but in the end, they just can't and don't match up w/GRC!

Honestly I do not think the game will be over at half time or sooner. Augusta needs to show why they deserve to be in the region.

These two teams haven't met since the '03 and '04 seasons, and those games were closer than what some may expect, both games in Winchester. GRC won 59-56 in '03, and 90-72 in '04. But that was 3 years ago, new blood on each squad now.

If Augusta plays the way they did last week in the District Finals then this game will be just as ugly as that. This is the most athletic team the Panthers have faced all season. To keep this game close or respectable, Augusta must not just play hard, everyone is playing hard its the regionals. They must execute their game plan to perfection. They must shoot a near perfect percentage from the free throw line, hit open shots, make crisp passes, hit solid screens and stay very patient in the half court. And thats just on offense. The real key to compete in this game though is going to be getting back on defense and getting in position quickly on both ends. If the Panthers allow themselves to be overwhelmed in the Full court then this will get ugly as quickly as Preston Knowles gets from foul line to foul line. Tough task eh?

I will go as far as saying that I believe this game will be a little more competitive as most think, or at least not as bad as their last game. This team is far more focused and ready to prove that they are not 50 points worse then someone.

With it being tourney time I believe that this game will be very physical for several minutes of the first quarter with the score being pretty close. However after that A- town will begin to loose steam and the cards will begin to go up in a big way.

Augusta has a nice team for such a small school and Coach Kelsch does a good job with them.:thumb:

Augusta needs to go to Stall Ball if they want to keep it close but I cant see that happening. Knowles will get some nasty dunks in I am sure just to let Mr. DArius Miller know that they are to be reckoned with. However, I think Mason Co wins the region outright and possibly wins state this year. You heard it first from this 9th region fan.
