First of all, nothing can be taken away from Coach Fite's Polar Bears. They played extremely hard tonight... Fought from the first tip off til the end. I am very proud of Coach Fite and his team.

 

Congrats to Coach Kelsch and his Panthers... 3rd straight trip to the regional for the Panthers is unprecedented..

Congrats to Augusta. Both teams fought hard and it was one of the best games I have ever seen between the two.

Augusta was led by Chris Mofford with 15 points along with Shawn White who added 14 points Both hit some big free throws down the stretch.

 

Dustin"Shooty" Staggs had 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Congrats to the Panthers and Coach Kelsch who along with his little Brother Coached their respective teams into the regions.

Great night for the Panthers, it's beginning to become a habit and that's what we want to see. Bracken County gave an all out effort tonight as expected. We anticipated a war and that's what we got. It was a great atmosphere with the fans and bands. It's what high school basketball is all about.

 

Also, what a night for the Kelsch family as both Robin and Patrick advance their teams to the region. I know that their dad Bill is looking down and smiling with pride. Does anyone know if anything like this has happened before? Seems unlikely.

According to the radio, there was 9 ties with the last coming at 47-47 before Shawn White scored 6 straight and Mofford connected on 3 out of 4 free throws in the final 2 minutes. Valiant effort for the Polar Bears, but in the end I think the experience prevailed and congrats go out to Robin and the guys from A-Town on making it 3 straight for only the second time in school history. I went on record before and I will go again that Robin Kelsch is as fine of a coach and person as you will fine in high school athletics. Its a win win situation for the town of Augusta, basketball is good for the town and Robin is good for the game of basketball. Congrats and enjoy the ride once more!
