  2. You do realize that this GT team went undefeated and won the state title in their class two years ago, right?
  3. The demise of Mason County has been greatly exaggerated. That is all.
  4. Yeah, it was Sumika's senior year. She's listed, but didn't score. Didn't see a Holli Free. MC (47) -- Jonnel Lofton 8, Tammy Brooks 14, Molly Barbour 11, Katie Wallingford 6, Courtney Chasteen 8 BC (57) -- Stephanie Brumley 19, Lauren Johnson 8, Krista Yelton 1, Lisa Tucker 16, Hannah Norris 6, Lesli Hamilton 4, Danielle Jefferson 3
  5. I'll let others give their opinions if they'd like, but I can give you Neal Pawsat's stats so far: 23-47 for 313 yards, 1 TD, 3 Int 86 yards rushing, 1 TD

  7. I am in no way disagreeing with you, if it was my kid, I want him/her to go to the best school for whatever skill they possess. If someone else has brought this up, disregard it, but it's hard to go through multiple threads to see a particular point. I think a fundamental flaw in this entire process, at least in Euton's case, is the bolded above. I'm assuming that it's true they moved to Lexington (i.e. Fayette County), yet have chosen to attend Scott County. I don't know the particulars, but isn't Lexington as a whole "zoned" so that where you live, you have to go to a particular school? I guess my question is, if the Eutons had enrolled Dakotah at the school in his neighborhood in Lexington, whichever one that may be, would any of this be controversial? (This of course is based on the assumption that Jackson is not part of the equation). Again, I don't disagree that you should be able to choose the best school for your talents, which in this case is obviously athletics. But I guess if the family had moved to the Georgetown/Scott County district, this could be sort of a moot point, past the automatically being ineligible when you transfer. Just a thought.
  8. Best part of the article is the origin of Shooty's nickname: I can immediately imagine Sean Stewart calling him Shooty McShooter. Hilarious!
  9. Very deserving honor for a great (and underrated) player. Good read too, from the Ledger and Chuck Hamilton: http://www.maysville-online.com/articles/2008/06/18/sports/048shooty.txt (For those of you in BGP-land who don't know, Shooty played for the Augusta Panthers)
  10. Danny Weddle has a video on his blog of a couple of highlights, and his recap at: http://courtsidewithdannyweddle.blogspot.com/
  11. I guess this would be considered third-hand, but Demling writes that Hoopsreports writes: http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/2008/05/few-nuggets_27.html My question is, is this a purely basketball transfer as with all the hoopla concerning Euton/Jackson, etc.? I'm not giving my opinion either way, just throwing it out there.
  12. I was searching through the final coaches' Top 25, looking for local teams, and I found this nugget: Others receiving votes: Clark County (1) 25 ... Meaning one person out of the 23 that voted ranked the Lady Cards number one. In the state. Yet no one else voted for them. This seem strange to anyone else? And before anyone gets on me, I think Clark County is a VERY good team, and deserving of top 25 status statewide. Just found it weird.
  13. Not to argue logistics, but I think coming to Maysville on Monday shows interest, whether it was for a scholarship offer or a walk-on offer.
  14. Lost to Conner on Friday night, 3-1; beat Highlands on Saturday morning, 5-2; and lost to Boyd County (9-3) and NewCath (13-1). I'll have some links up later to each game. Thanks for your interest!
  15. No doubt! Katelyn Meyer of Bracken gets the win: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 HBP, 12 K Karissa Greenhill of Mason picks up the tough-luck loss: 7 IP, 5 H, 4 R (2 earned), 2 BB, career-high 11 K
  16. 100 percent true: http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Unearned_run An earned run is a run that is ruled by the official scorer to have resulted exclusively from actions by the batting team and not because of errors by the defense. When the fielding team makes an error or passed ball, the scorer is supposed to "reconstruct" the inning assuming that the defensive miscue did not occur. Only runs that would have scored barring the miscue are considered earned; all others are considered to be unearned. Walks aren't unearned, unless they too occurred after what would've been the third out. The ball hit the fielder in the glove (no sign involved), so yes, it should be considered an error. It would've been the third out, AND Cox wouldn't have had the chance to hit the home run.
  17. Add this in with Mason's win over St. Pat Tuesday, and this means that the Thursday game in Maysville between Mason and Bracken will determine the district's number one seed. Whoever wins, no matter the score, gets it!

  19. It's good to see Lacey get some credit, though she didn't in any of the so-far all-star games, or in any of the all-state votes. Hate to see it, but she will hopefully be playing somewhere come fall.
